Took the installers three times to get it right. Obvious they were inexperienced. The manager should have been on-site while they were working and he was not. It is still not perfect. Dings in the metal. Some areas are crooked. The Installation was terrible. The crew claimed they were finished but there were nails sticking out and boards hanging down. We were appalled that the installers thought that was a competent job.

Throughout the project we could not ask questions or communicate with the workers due to a language barrier. We are still waiting to have issues resolved. No one is getting back to us.

The product is good however the installer needs more english speaking staff so when issues arise they can be dealt with. Have someone with their installation crews that speaks and understands english at times. Not at this time.

They could have notified me a couple of days before they were coming instead of calling me the morning that they were on the way and given me a completion date so we would have known when to have the check.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salisbury

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salisbury, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salisbury.

How does a metal roof handle the 148 cm of snow Salisbury gets each winter?

Aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, interlocked surface prevents water from pooling and refreezing into dams. Salisbury averages about 148 cm of snow annually with roughly 100 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions that crack asphalt and cause ice backup. The four-way interlocking design and optional snow guards work together to manage load strategically. Aluminum's light weight (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in heavy snow years.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in New Hampshire damage aluminum roofing?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it resists the cracking and splitting that plague asphalt and wood in regions with 100 freeze-thaw days per year like Salisbury. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for this cycling. Unlike slate or clay tile, which fracture under repeated freezing, aluminum remains ductile. The self-healing oxide layer protects the metal even as temperature swings from below zero to above freezing across the year's roughly 3,000 sunshine hours.

Can aluminum roofing rust in New England's damp climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal and repairs itself if scratched. In Salisbury's wet climate—941 mm of rain annually—this passive protection is far superior to steel, which requires paint or galvanizing to survive moisture. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides, adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). This dual protection is why Interlock panels perform from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica.

How well does metal roofing perform in Salisbury's windstorms?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Salisbury's typical gusts around 110 km/h. Each panel locks on all four sides, preventing lift or separation during storms. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms installation compliance with IBC/IRC wind standards. Light weight—0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile—reduces wind load stress on fasteners and structure. This design has proven reliable across decades of New England nor'easters and Atlantic coastal weather.

Does a metal roof protect against hail damage in New Hampshire?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing is rated UL 2218 Class 4 impact—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In Salisbury, where hail is a seasonal risk, this non-prorated coverage gives you peace of mind that asphalt cannot match. The impact resistance remains effective for the life of the roof. Many insurance companies recognize this durability and may offer premium discounts; ask your agent about UL 2218 Class 4 recognition. This rating has made metal roofing the choice for high-risk hail regions nationwide.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Salisbury's 3,017 annual sunshine hours mean roof temperature matters year-round. Interlock's energy-efficient finishes achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured in Aged Copper Penny). Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms these reflectance values. Reducing heat absorption lowers cooling demand in summer and extends asphalt lifespan by comparison. Over 25–30 years, energy savings compound significantly, especially on south- and west-facing roofs that face Salisbury's strong sun exposure.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood shingles?

Metal roofs require virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles curl, crack, and degrade within 15–20 years, especially under Salisbury's 100 freeze-thaw cycles annually. Wood shingles rot, split, and attract insects. A metal roof with CALGreen-verified low-maintenance properties simply sheds debris and weathers in place. The Alunar coating resists staining and chalking for 30 years. Rain—941 mm annually—cleans the smooth panels naturally. No sealing, no re-nailing, no seasonal inspections. One last roof means one last labor and cost cycle.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?

Yes. Metal roofing costs more upfront but eliminates the asphalt replacement cycle. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in Salisbury's harsh climate; you buy it twice or three times over 50 years. A metal roof, backed by a lifetime limited non-prorated warranty (50-year transferable term for the next owner), outlasts 2–3 asphalt roofs and requires no tear-off disposal costs or labor. When you factor 941 mm of annual rain and 148 cm of snow, the durability advantage grows. Current financing—no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off—reduces the initial gap. Your last roof is your most economical roof.

Are metal roofs better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and Interlock's panels can be recycled indefinitely without losing properties. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the million tons each year. Salisbury's 941 mm of annual rainfall accelerates asphalt degradation, meaning more frequent tear-offs and disposal. Metal roofing breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. The lightweight design (0.41 lb/sq ft for Slate) installs directly over existing roofs, eliminating old-roof removal in most cases. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, the panels reduce transportation emissions and support circular material economy principles.

Can a new metal roof be installed over my existing asphalt shingles?

Usually yes. Interlock's exceptional light weight—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Tile at ~96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—means most homes' existing framing supports a new metal roof without reinforcement. Installation over the old shingles is faster and cheaper than a full tear-off; your old roof becomes extra insulation and underlayment. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., serving this region since 1999, evaluates your roof deck and determines the best approach. A solid deck and proper fastening ensure performance during Salisbury's 110 km/h gusts and 148 cm seasonal snow. Most installations take days, not weeks.
