What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: August 15, 2019Completion: July 8, 2019

The communication between salesman and the installers. We agreed that the installers would run the TV cable along the side of the house under the awning but it is still laying on the roof. I will contact comcast to try and get this addressed. I am also unsure if the vent for the roof got taken care of. There is a dryer/restroom vent on the roof that was stuck shut and trapping humidity in the attic under the roof. I am going to try and see if I can go up and check this myself. Ivan noticed the condensation residue from the vent holes on the side of the house. He said that would also be taken care of.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Argay Terrace

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Argay Terrace, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Argay Terrace.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Argay Terrace winters?

Aluminum's smooth surface sheds wet snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt or wood shake, which means fewer ice dams blocking gutters during Argay Terrace's typical 36 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow load doesn't create weak points—the panels distribute weight evenly across your structure. At roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile, metal is light enough that you won't need structural reinforcement even with seasonal snow accumulation, yet the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating means hail and falling ice won't dent or puncture the panels. We can install snow guards if you want controlled shedding onto a porch or garden bed.

Will a metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest's wet climate?

No—Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust, period. When aluminum oxidizes, it forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath; if you scratch it, the layer reforms within days. On top of that, every panel gets Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards. With Argay Terrace averaging about 1468 mm of rain yearly and high humidity, that dual-layer protection means your roof will outlast the house—not the other way around. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum does not.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you look at total cost over the roof's life. An asphalt roof in Argay Terrace's rainy climate typically needs replacement every 15–20 years because UV, moisture, and freeze-thaw cycles (36 days per year here) degrade asphalt faster. Metal lasts 50+ years with the Guardian lifetime limited warranty transferable to the next owner for another 50 years. That means you buy it once; your house gets one roof for the foreseeable future. Material cost is higher upfront, but labor, permits, and disposal happen only once instead of three or four times. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—either option sweetens the math. Calculate your true annual cost and aluminum wins.

Can my house's frame support a metal roof, or do I need expensive structural work?

Your existing frame almost certainly can support it—that's the beauty of aluminum. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which visually rivals concrete or clay tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is a fraction of what traditional tile demands. Most homes can accept metal roof installation directly over existing asphalt, shingles, or shake without any structural reinforcement whatsoever. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms this across building codes. You save thousands on framing upgrades that competitors might try to sell you—money you can put toward finishing the project faster or applying the current financing offer.

Do reflective metal roof colors actually lower cooling costs?

Yes, measurably. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (on Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce back heat that asphalt shingles absorb and trap in your attic. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms the difference: when Argay Terrace gets about 2957 sunshine hours per year, reflective finishes reduce cooling demand and lower peak attic temperatures significantly compared to dark or standard asphalt. You won't eliminate AC costs in Oregon's temperate climate, but you'll trim them—especially on south and west-facing roofs. energy-efficiency certification means you've got third-party proof, not just marketing hype. Lower energy use also qualifies you for some utility rebates; check with your local provider.

Is a metal roof safe in Argay Terrace wind storms?

Absolutely. Argay Terrace experiences typical daily-max winds around 15 km/h, but gusts can reach 116 km/h—metal roofs are engineered exactly for that. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind cannot peel them apart like it does with loose asphalt shingles or split wood shake. Interlock is warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and the UL 2218 Class 4 rating confirms impact durability. Your neighbors' shingles may lift or tear; your metal roof sits tight. Installation matters—our crew at Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving since 1997, knows exactly how to secure panels to handle Pacific Northwest weather.

How often do I need to maintain or repair a metal roof?

Far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. Metal doesn't rot, split, curl, or degrade like organic materials do over Argay Terrace's wet winters and 36 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Asphalt requires regular inspection, sealing, and replacement of damaged shingles; wood shake requires treatment and periodic repair; tile cracks and leaks. Interlock panels need no sealing, no staining, and no seasonal inspections for damage. Rinse debris off gutters and, if you want, hose down the roof every couple of years—that's it. The Guardian lifetime warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. No hidden maintenance costs. CALGreen certification confirms reduced maintenance burden.

Is a metal roof fire-safe for my Argay Terrace home?

Yes—aluminum is non-combustible. Interlock offers Class A fire rating (the highest available) because aluminum cannot ignite or spread flame. Wood shake is combustible and often fails fire inspection in high-risk zones; asphalt can melt and spread embers. Aluminum simply won't. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 documents code compliance, confirming that Interlock meets or exceeds IBC and IRC fire safety requirements. Non-combustibility also appeals to insurers; some offer premium discounts on homes with Class A roofs. While Argay Terrace isn't a wildfire zone like eastern Oregon, fire ratings matter for resale appraisal and peace of mind. You get safety and potential insurance savings in one material.

How long does installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity, with our crew at Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. handling the entire process. Yes, we install directly over your existing asphalt, shingles, or wood shake—no tear-off required. That saves time, labor costs, and eliminates the landfill waste from hauling old material away. Because aluminum is so light (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile), your structure handles the new roof without reinforcement. We secure panels to the existing deck, ensuring proper drainage and ventilation underneath. The job is cleaner and faster than traditional roofing. With current financing available (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027), you can start sooner and spread costs over time.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Substantially better. Interlock aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end-of-life, meaning it returns to the material supply chain rather than a landfill. Asphalt roofing tears off every 15–20 years and goes straight to waste—in Argay Terrace's rainy climate, that cycle repeats three or four times over a century. Metal breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle completely: you install it once and it lasts 50+ years. No mining new materials every two decades, no disposal trucks, no methane from decomposing asphalt. Aluminum's light weight also eliminates the structural reinforcement and extra lumber that heavier traditional tile requires—less forest impact. Interlock's manufacturing in Delta, BC, and CALGreen verification confirm environmental responsibility. Choosing metal means fewer roofs in the waste stream and lower lifecycle carbon.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Argay Terrace’s climate?

Yes. Argay Terrace averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
