Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Chapman, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Apparently there was a hold up at the Canadian border that delayed us a day. After that everything went quickly and smoothly. Victor and his crew were awesome. We added solar tubes with the roof, I can’t say enough good things about the extra light they added to our home. Everyone who sees the roof loves it and so do we. Thank you!
As an appraiser this type of roofing is nice to see. It does not add dollar per dollar in value to your home. Price is a little steep.
The gentleman was friendly, courteous and patience. He looked at the photos of the leak and was able to determine what the problem was and was able to fix the problem. He also explained the problem to a person who has no knowledge of roof problems..great job!!!!!
Interlock roofing needs to improve the communication drastically. Also, the delivery and ordering process needs to be more organized.
Everything was top notch. Wish every experience with a contractor was this positive. The roof looks great and I'm looking forward to not having to clean moss off every spring.
Interlock Roofing could improve by picking up the smaller pieces of metal panel they cut off and put it into a bucket, and also to give me the questionnaire when they finish the job not when they are leaving so that way I can have time to see the questions I am answering.
The customer service is a little lacking. They could have improved their customer service for our project. The final product is great. The field team was great. I think they bit off more than they could chew with the housing boom and got overbooked. The roof is great, though!
Excellent service. I am happy that I have a great roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Chapman
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Chapman, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Chapman.
Does metal roofing handle Chapman's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently, and the system is warranted for wind gusts up to 120 mph—well above Chapman's typical peak gusts of about 103 km/h. With roughly 51 cm of snow per year and about 24 freeze-thaw days, the smooth, slippery surface prevents ice dams from forming the way asphalt does. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control where snow slides. The aluminum's light weight—the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft—never stresses your structure, even under wet snow loads that would burden traditional tile or slate.
Can metal roofing rust in Chapman's rainy climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Chapman receives about 1500 mm of rain annually, yet Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) develops a self-healing oxide layer that protects it indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel and carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum oxidizes and repairs itself. This distinction matters in a region with persistent moisture and 2835 sunshine hours yearly that keep the oxide layer stable and regenerating.
Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof in Chapman?
Yes, no structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Cedar Shingle profile is even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most Chapman homes can support the existing roof plus Interlock's metal system without modification. The lightweight design means installation is faster and less invasive. You avoid the cost and mess of removing old shingles, which keeps disposal waste out of landfills and shortens the job timeline. Even with Chapman's annual 51 cm of snow and wet freeze-thaw cycles, the minimal dead load protects your framing.
What hail protection does metal roofing offer?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This certification means the panels withstand the most severe hail events underwriters test. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for homes with Class 4-rated roofing. Chapman's climate doesn't typically feature extreme hail, but the robust aluminum construction proves valuable if severe weather occurs. Request a quote from your insurer mentioning the UL 2218 Class 4 rating; the savings often offset part of the installation cost over the warranty lifetime.
Can metal roofing save on heating and cooling costs in Chapman?
Yes, reflective metal roofing lowers cooling loads and qualifies for energy savings. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reach thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning the roof reflects rather than absorbs the heat that asphalt shingles trap. Chapman enjoys about 2835 annual sunshine hours, so this reflective property reduces heat gain during warmer months and, combined with proper ventilation, can lower air-conditioning costs. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the thermal performance. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings compound—especially important as utility costs rise. Lighter-colored profiles in reflective finishes maximize this benefit.
How long does metal roofing last, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding resale value. In Chapman's climate—roughly 1500 mm rain, 51 cm snow, and 24 freeze-thaw cycles annually—durable aluminum outlasts asphalt by decades. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock's panels routinely last 50+ years with minimal maintenance. The transferable term means a future buyer inherits decades of coverage, making your home more attractive and justifying the higher initial investment.
Does metal roofing stay secure in Chapman's wind?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Chapman's typical daily-max winds reach about 14 km/h with gusts to 103 km/h, so the roof's wind rating far exceeds local conditions. The interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind loads across the entire system rather than stressing individual fasteners. This geometry prevents uplift even during severe gusts. Combined with the ESR-1790 code evaluation (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), you're assured the installation meets or exceeds all local building standards for wind resistance.
How much maintenance does metal roofing need compared to asphalt or tile?
Minimal. Metal roofing requires no re-coating, no reshaping, and no regular repairs—unlike asphalt, which cracks and curls, or wood shake, which splits and rots. In Chapman's wet, freeze-thaw environment (about 24 freeze-thaw days per year), asphalt degrades rapidly; wood absorbs moisture and fails. Aluminum sheds water and ice, resists rot and rust, and retains its finish. Periodic gutter cleaning and inspection suffice. The CALGreen-verified metal roofing reduces maintenance burden over the roof's life, lowering long-term ownership costs. One inspection every few years beats annual asphalt repairs or tile replacement.
Is metal roofing fire-safe for Chapman homes?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing achieves Class A fire classification—the highest rating—because aluminum is non-combustible. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for fire safety under IBC and IRC standards. Many homeowners insurance policies offer premium reductions for Class A roofing. Chapman's dense forests and seasonal weather patterns make fire resistance a practical value; a non-combustible roof can protect your structure even if wildfire approaches. The Class A rating also improves home value and insurer confidence. Installation of a Class A metal roof can be a strategic insurance and safety upgrade for long-term peace of mind.
Is a metal roof worth the cost over the life of the roof?
Yes, especially over 50 years. Asphalt roofing costs less upfront but requires replacement every 15–20 years, compounding material and labor costs across decades. Interlock's initial investment is higher, but the lifetime limited warranty, 50-year transferable term, and minimal maintenance mean one installation serves Chapman homeowners for 50+ years. Calculate total cost of ownership: asphalt needs 2–3 replacements; metal needs one. Add energy savings from reflective coatings, potential insurance discounts for Class 4 hail and Class A fire ratings, and the transferable warranty's resale appeal. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the upfront cost more manageable. Over time, metal roofing is the last roof you buy.
