Installation crew was top notch and the roof looks amazing. Follow up from project manager when they say they will contact you ensure that they do reach out.

Review: December 6, 2021 Completion: November 15, 2021

Had we to start over, looking for a new roof again, we would go with a high quality composite material. This was way more expensive and we won’t live long enough to make the investment worthwhile. Yes, it will increase the resale value, but I doubt it will be enough to offset the cost differential. Also, now there is no way for me to walk on this extremely steep and slippery metal roof. Cleaning the gutters on the dormers is too dangerous and I have been unable to find anyone willing to climb on a metal roof. My internet communication antenna is at the highest point of the roof and should it ever require service I am concerned of my service provider’s ability to access it. And yes, it has to be at the highest point to “see” the transceiver at the service provider’s end. The positive aspects are its appearance, fire resistance, and long life.

Review: June 15, 2021 Completion: September 24, 2020

I looked into replacing my roof and found that with modern composite shingles I will end end replacing it numerous times in my lifetime. With Interlock it's one and done. The roof I got was red aluminum in a slate style and it looks great; best roof in my neighborhood, hands down. In fact it's fun to see cars driving by and notice the driver staring at the new roof. Also, I've received numerous compliments from passersby about how great the roof looks. Other points are that the install was quick and skillful and needless to say, I have no leaks. Review: May 6, 2021 Completion: March 26, 2021

I picked up a significant number of old shingle refuse, flashing remnants, and many aluminum nails around our entire property and in our gutters. A more thorough cleaning would have been preferred.

It is very expensive to do, so someone really must be committed to their roof long term to spend that kind of money! I feel Interlock Roofing could have had a little more inventory on the job site to prevent them from running out of any materials.

Accuracy of bid. My project cost me more than $15,000 more than estimated—$10,000-plus to Interlock and $10,000 for gutters. I was told they would cost less than $2,500. I am still waiting for the drywall guy to return and texture my entry ceiling so I can repaint. (One of the installers slipped and stepped through the ceiling.) Also, my yard man gathered up several pieces of flashing that were left behind. He had to move them in order to mow.

Review: September 15, 2018

This time around it was $30,000 more on the quote. The service is bad and the salesperson was bad. When he came, my mother said 'hello' and 'how are you', but he turned away from her. He kept pushing and pushing and the way he treated my mother was not acceptable. The product is one of the best on the market, but the people working on the field are very bad.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hillsboro

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hillsboro, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hillsboro.

Why doesn't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and why does that matter in Oregon?

Aluminum is naturally rust-proof because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects it from further damage. In Hillsboro's wet climate, averaging 1208 mm of annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw cycles per year, this matters enormously. While steel roofs fail in these conditions, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum stays protected indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish adds another 30-year warranty against weathering, meaning you're not fighting corrosion—you're simply maintaining a roof.

Does an Interlock metal roof hold up in hailstorms, and can I save on insurance?

Yes—Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Hillsboro averages moderate hail exposure, that Class 4 rating gives you peace of mind and may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts (check with your carrier). The lightweight four-way interlocking aluminum design absorbs impact without transmitting stress to your home's structure, unlike brittle slate or clay tile. Many insurers recognize the durability advantage and reward it.

Will a metal roof blow off in Hillsboro's winter storms?

No. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Hillsboro's typical gusts reach about 120 km/h, well within that range. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than placing stress on individual fasteners. This means whether you face the region's average 16 km/h winds or rare peak gusts, your roof stays secure. Installation to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards ensures that warranty holds.

Can my house support a metal tile roof without expensive structural work?

Almost certainly yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your home's framing was likely never designed for real tile, but it easily handles aluminum. This means you can install over most existing roofs without reinforcement, avoiding thousands in structural upgrades. Hillsboro homes built in the past 50 years especially benefit; the lightweight design lets contractors often complete installation in days rather than weeks. Compare that to slate or real tile, and the structural savings alone justify the switch.

How does metal roofing handle Hillsboro's heavy rain without leaking?

The four-way interlocking seams are the key. With 1208 mm of annual rainfall, your roof needs foolproof water management. Interlock panels overlap and lock on all four sides, creating channels that shed water downslope and outward before it can pool or penetrate seams. Installed over a solid deck with underlayment (as ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifies), there's nowhere for water to hide. The system mimics traditional standing seam roofs—tested in rainforests and coastal zones—and performs equally in Hillsboro's persistent winter moisture. Properly installed, metal roofing actually reduces leak callbacks versus asphalt.

Will a metal roof really lower my cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors do help, especially paired with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84. In Hillsboro, with about 3033 sunshine hours annually, that reflectance means less heat absorbed into your attic on clear days. You won't see cooling savings as dramatic as in Arizona, but metal roofs consistently outperform asphalt, which absorbs heat and transfers it into living spaces. The effect compounds: cooler attic in summer means lower AC load, and the cool-roof effect also moderates temperature swings during the region's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles, reducing material stress.

What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from installation completion. That's exceptional coverage. Most asphalt roofs need replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock's lifespan spans generations. For Hillsboro homeowners, it means you're truly buying your last roof. The one-time transfer also boosts resale appeal—buyers see long-term protection built in.

Is metal roofing really cheaper than asphalt over the long haul?

Yes, over 50+ years. The upfront cost is higher, but asphalt requires replacement roughly every 15–20 years—three or four cycles over the lifetime of a metal roof. Factor in labor, debris removal, and the landfill cost of worn shingles, and metal roofing typically breaks even by year 20 and saves thousands thereafter. Hillsboro's 1208 mm annual rainfall and 37 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt degradation, shortening its life. Interlock's aluminum stands up to that weathering indefinitely. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off—making the entry cost even more manageable.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the texture and dimension of its traditional counterpart using roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy. The profiles are available in multiple colors to match Hillsboro's architectural diversity—from Craftsman homes to contemporary designs. Because aluminum weighs 96% less than real tile and carries a 30-year finish warranty against chalking and fading, you get authentic curb appeal without the fragility, weight penalty, or maintenance headaches of wood or clay. Choose the style; aluminum handles the durability.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Hillsboro, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Washington County and the broader region, with roots here since 1997. The company has installed thousands of roofs across the Pacific Northwest—from coastal salt-air homes to demanding freeze-thaw climates like Hillsboro's. That regional expertise matters: they understand local code (ICC-ES ESR-1790), typical weather patterns, and how to sequence installation through Oregon's rainy seasons. Local installers also handle warranty claims faster and can troubleshoot site-specific challenges. When you're investing in a 50+ year roof, working with an experienced local team ensures the job is done right the first time.
