We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Thanks so much for improving the appearance of our home. The difference from before to after is spectacular. It was also nice to have Interlock install gutters as we did not have them before. The job was done quickly (within a week), and the clean up was amazing!! Having had numerous problems with roofers in the past and not having much trust in roofers, It was a pleasure to work with you and have such an easy process with no hassle and a fabulous product to have for 40 years!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Interlock replaced our old shake roof, which was leaking. It was not more than 13 years old. In life you get what your pay for. I went on line and looked at the choices, and it was clear to me that that Interlock was the best choice for our home. I called them right after I did my research. Where I come from, quality is the most important thing when you are looking to buy a new product, especially something as important as a roof. We were really unhappy with our last roof, and wanted to get it done right this time, to last for a lifetime. I can’t say anything bad about it. We love the roof, and the installation was great. The warranty can’t be beat. Ross was a great company rep. I did not worry in the least about the price we paid, I don’t want to do the roof again. The neighbors keep asking us about the roof. I keep telling them, don’t think of anything else but Interlock. We’ll see a few more Interlock roofs in this neighborhood by the time I am done telling everyone about the company and the roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Snoqualmie

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Snoqualmie, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Snoqualmie.

How does a metal roof handle Snoqualmie's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that causes ice dams. Snoqualmie receives about 194 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 58 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions where ice dams commonly damage gutters and cause leaks. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels remain sealed and watertight even as snow melts and refreezes. The lightweight construction (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no snow load reinforcement is needed, and optional snow guards can be installed if additional control is desired.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in King County make aluminum roofing a better choice than asphalt?

Freeze-thaw cycles—Snoqualmie averages about 58 per year—cause asphalt shingles to crack and curl as they expand and contract. Aluminum does not absorb moisture, so it expands and contracts minimally and never cracks or splits. The material's oxide layer, which forms naturally on aluminum, self-heals when scratched, maintaining its integrity across decades of freeze-thaw stress. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214), your roof resists the degradation that freeze-thaw cycles inflict on conventional materials.

Can aluminum roofing rust in wet Pacific Northwest climates?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to form. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. This is why Interlock aluminum has been installed in coastal salt-air homes for over 25 years since 1998, and even at an Antarctic research station. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy meets ASTM B209 standards, and both sides receive Alunar 70% PVDF coating for extra protection in corrosive environments. In Snoqualmie's 1761 mm annual rainfall, aluminum's corrosion resistance outperforms steel and offers genuine peace of mind.

How does a metal roof prevent leaks during Snoqualmie's heavy rainfall?

Snoqualmie receives about 1761 mm of rain annually; metal roofing's hard, impermeable surface sheds water instantly without absorption. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels overlap and seal at every seam, creating a continuous water barrier that asphalt shingles cannot match. When installed to specification over solid decking and proper underlayment, the system channels water away before it can pool or penetrate seams. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) certifies the design for IBC/IRC compliance, including water management in high-rainfall zones. Unlike shingles that degrade and develop gaps, interlocking panels maintain their seal for decades.

Are metal roofs safe in Snoqualmie's wind and storm gusts?

Snoqualmie's typical gusts reach 128 km/h and the region experiences strong maritime winds. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking panel design—where each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides—distributes wind force across the entire roof system rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This interconnected structure is why the roof maintains its integrity in severe weather. Combined with proper fastening, this design has proven effective in wind-prone regions across North America, ensuring your roof stays secure through seasonal storm patterns.

What hail damage rating does metal roofing have and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the roof withstands impacts that damage asphalt and wood shakes. Many homeowners find that this superior impact resistance qualifies them for insurance discounts or lower premiums, though you should verify with your insurer. The combination of aluminum's hardness and four-way interlocking construction distributes impact energy, preventing the denting and cracking that occur in conventional roofing. In any climate with occasional hail, this durability translates to lower out-of-pocket repair costs over the roof's lifetime.

Does a metal roof require expensive structural reinforcement for my home?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This low weight means it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional framing, reducing labor and material costs significantly. The Slate profile comes in at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Even homes with older framing can support metal roofing, which is why Interlock can often be installed as a direct overlay, preserving your existing roof structure and saving thousands on reinforcement work. This lightweight advantage is unique to aluminum versus traditional tile or slate.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood shakes?

Aluminum metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance beyond occasional inspection and gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt shingles, which crack and curl over time, or cedar shakes, which split and rot in wet climates like Snoqualmie's 1761 mm annual rainfall, aluminum does not decompose, split, or lose granules. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. You won't need to replace shingles, treat wood, or repair granule loss. After 20-30 years, asphalt roofs require costly tear-off and landfill disposal; your metal roof will still be functional and maintenance-free.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale value. Because aluminum does not rust or rot, and the Alunar fluorocarbon coating remains color-stable for 30 years, the roof's functional life spans multiple decades. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 and installed them in extreme climates from coastal salt-air to Antarctica, demonstrating real-world durability far exceeding asphalt's typical 15-20 year lifespan. This is genuinely the last roof you will buy.

How does metal roofing's cost compare to asphalt over the lifetime of my roof?

Metal roofing costs more upfront but costs far less over the roof's 50+ year life. Asphalt typically requires complete replacement every 15-20 years, meaning two or three tear-offs and reinstalls in the time your metal roof lasts. Each tear-off costs money and sends 2-3 tons of shingles to the landfill. Currently, Interlock is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation in this region. A metal roof installed today will outlive multiple asphalt roofs; factor in labor, landfill fees, and the certainty of a 50-year lifespan, and the total cost of ownership strongly favors metal. Add the transferable warranty's resale value, and the investment becomes even more compelling.
