Review: May 19, 2025 Completion: April 29, 2025

Couldn’t be more pleased with our new Interlock metal roof. Finished in three days including tear off. Professional crew cleaned up after themselves each day. We’re especially enjoying the two solar tubes that add natural light to our home. Highly recommend Interlock.

Review: February 25, 2025 Completion: May 15, 2015

I continue to be pleased and happy with my Interlock metal roof after 10 years! People new to the neighborhood ask about it and are amazed to learn it's metal and not asphalt.

Review: February 7, 2025 Completion: November 30, 2024

Definitely worth the wait. We got our estimate and signed on the dotted line in late August, then got our new roof in mid-November. I was a little concerned because we were now into the "rainy" season. I needn't have been. From start to finish the job was done professionally, efficiently, and they even coordinated with the satellite dish person who relocated our dish for us. I actually contacted Interlock and asked for a yard sign to be placed out front because I wanted all my neighbors to know about our beautiful new roof. First rate and I have recommended them to others and will continue to do so.

Review: February 1, 2025 Completion: June 27, 2024

Our new metal roof from Interlock was installed in June. It has kept our house cooler in the hot weather. The roof is beautiful and makes our house stand out. The Installers were professional, efficient and friendly. There was virtually no debris left in the garden or anywhere. We love our new roof and recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof that will last a long time.

Review: August 17, 2024 Completion: August 31, 2024

Interlock did a great job communicating and the team sent to install the roof was professional and fast. The roofing system looks great after install and held up to some heavy rains afterwards with no issues.

Review: March 10, 2024 Completion: February 6, 2024

They could improve on communication between the initial estimate, scheduling, and financing.

Review: January 6, 2023 Completion: December 12, 2022

We got nothing but praises from our neighbors. The new roof looks shiny and beautiful after the rains. Faster start date after the sale. Positive experience.

Review: October 25, 2022 Completion: October 14, 2022

The roof is absolutely beautiful and compliments our home. The work was fast and professional. Communication about scheduling. Clean up of job site. We absolutely love the roof.

Review: August 7, 2022 Completion: July 30, 2022

The initial construction phases were fine. But WRT our existing skylights, the crew totally dropped the ball, then avoided picking it up. We were told by the estimators that our existing main-roof skylights were high-quality Andersons in great condition and that they would be retained with the new roof. When we returned from our out of state trip we found holes covered with tarpaper where the skylights had been, and nobody from Interlock would own up to it, or give assurances as to when the holes would be filled. Someone failed to communicate with the crew, and it appeared they had scrapped our skylights. It took over two weeks and numerous phone calls before the new skylights were finally installed. Better and more timely communications with your customers when problems arise. It wasn't until we called Mr. Rasmussen that some action on the skylights issue got started.

Review: October 23, 2021 Completion: September 17, 2021

The roof is very expensive, though I didn't compare it with competitors. They could have done better troubleshooting on the patio waterproof membrane delivery. It was delayed. I had the roof put on because of a leak over the garage and they anticipated having to replace some of the plywood. Then the crew said that wasn't necessary. Now, however, it looks like there is some swale on the roof. I just can't assess the quality well. I wonder if some garage damage was not fixed. On the other hand, it might just be them having to have stepped on the panels.

Review: September 9, 2020 Completion: August 31, 2020

According to my tenant, there was some damage done to a light fixture during the project. They did not ask the tenant if everyone and everything was ok after the completed project so I think that could be something they could improve on. I replaced the broken light fixture myself. I think they could follow up after the completed project to ensure that everything went well and there were no issues.

Review: December 13, 2019 Completion: November 4, 2019

I don't know of anything to be improved. They did fine.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Vancouver

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Vancouver, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Vancouver.

Why can't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel, and does that matter in the Pacific Northwest?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. In Vancouver's wet climate, which averages 1468 mm of rain annually, this is a genuine advantage: your roof won't develop the orange streaking or structural decay that steel roofs develop in damp conditions. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel, adds another 30-year barrier against weathering, so corrosion simply isn't a failure path for this roof.

Does a metal roof handle Vancouver's snow and ice without problems?

Yes—and the lightness of the material helps. Vancouver averages about 48 cm of snow per year with roughly 36 freeze-thaw cycles, which can load and stress heavy roofs. Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (the Shingle profile), so snow load is never a structural concern and you won't need costly reinforcement. The smooth aluminum surface and four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice efficiently without the ponding that can trap water and create ice dams on flat or low-slope roofs. Optional snow guards are available if you want to control where snow slides.

With over 1400 mm of rain per year here, will a metal roof leak?

Metal roofing doesn't leak when installed correctly—the four-way interlocking seams are engineered to shed water, not trap it. Every panel locks to its neighbors at the sides and edges, creating a unified surface that channels rainfall away. Paired with an ICC-ES ESR-1790-compliant underlayment and proper flashing (which your installer handles), the system is proven in climates far wetter than Vancouver's 1468 mm annual average. The metal itself won't absorb water or degrade like asphalt does, so the leak-resistance actually improves with age as you avoid the brittleness and cracking that make traditional roofs leak.

Vancouver gets wind gusts up to 116 km/h—is a metal roof secure in storms?

The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec, so your local gust conditions are well within the design envelope. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically and distribute wind load across the entire roof, not just fastening points. This integrated assembly is rated UL 2218 Class 4 for hail impact and performs similarly against lateral wind forces. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has been serving this region since 1997 and knows exactly how to secure panels for Clark County weather.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but delivers genuine value over time. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off, landfill disposal, and reinstallation—a costly cycle repeated every two decades. Interlock's Guardian lifetime limited warranty, coupled with minimal maintenance and no replacement in your lifetime, means this is likely the last roof you'll buy. The non-prorated coverage protects against rusting, rotting, cracking, and impact damage. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027—levels the initial cost difference, letting you spread payments over time while your roof begins its 50+ year service life.

What makes Interlock's warranty different, and does it really last a lifetime?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home, with no deductible that increases over time. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for a full 50 years from completion. That's exceptional coverage: most asphalt warranties are 15–25 years and prorated (coverage declines each year). Given Vancouver's 36 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 48 cm of snow, this warranty protects against the exact stresses that shorten traditional roof life.

What's the hail rating, and could a metal roof lower my insurance premiums?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—the same rating used for hail testing. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While homeowner insurance discounts depend on your carrier and policy, the non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire-rated) and impact resistance often qualify for credits that asphalt and wood roofs don't. Ask your agent; the combination of fire resistance and proven durability in severe weather is underwritten favorably. In Clark County, where hail is possible but not routine, this rating means you're protected against an outcome that would compromise other roofing types.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and pitch, but most projects complete in 1–3 days. A major advantage: Interlock panels install over most existing roofs without removal, saving landfill waste and labor costs. The panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile), so no structural reinforcement is needed—your home's framing handles it easily. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., will assess your existing roof during an estimate and confirm whether overlay is possible. The process includes underlayment, flashing, and fastening per ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards, which is the building code for metal roofing in Washington.

Can metal roofing actually look like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each cast with authentic texture and shadow lines that read as traditional materials from street view. The aluminum panels are engineered to capture the dimensional detail and color variation of high-end originals. You choose the aesthetic you want, plus all the performance benefits: the Tile profile, for example, delivers the look of concrete or clay tile at roughly 96% of the weight, eliminating the structural reinforcement cost those materials demand. Your choice of Alunar finish colors (including Aged Copper Penny with 0.55 solar reflectance) ensures the roof weathers naturally and maintains curb appeal for decades.

Does a metal roof actually save energy in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective finishes (up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance on Aged Copper Penny) bounce sunlight away rather than absorbing it like asphalt does, reducing cooling loads on hot days. The aluminum's thermal emissivity of 0.84 also radiates absorbed heat efficiently. With about 2957 sunshine hours per year in Vancouver, even partial solar reflection adds up—lowering summer AC demand and extending roof life by reducing thermal stress. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating ensures the performance is independently verified, not marketing claims.
