Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fairfield

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fairfield, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fairfield.

Will a metal roof hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-corrosive nature makes it ideal for Fairfield's roughly 85 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike materials that absorb moisture and crack when water freezes inside them, the 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels has no iron content and cannot rust or rot. Its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so repeated expansion and contraction from temperature swings won't compromise the material. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating applied to both sides, your roof stays protected through decades of Wisconsin winters.

How does a metal roof perform with Fairfield's heavy snow load?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice efficiently, reducing ice-dam risk in areas that receive about 81 centimeters of snow yearly. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that sheds precipitation quickly rather than trapping it like asphalt shingles do. The lightweight design—Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means snow doesn't add dangerous structural strain. You can add snow guards if you prefer controlled shedding for safety. The smooth, sloped profiles accelerate drainage, which is critical when you're facing both heavy snow and thaw cycles.

Can a metal roof survive Fairfield's wind gusts?

Absolutely. Fairfield experiences typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h with gusts reaching 97 km/h, and Interlock roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together in all directions, distributing wind force across the whole assembly rather than letting individual fasteners carry the load. This design, combined with ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 compliance and proper installation, keeps your roof secure even in severe weather without requiring expensive structural modifications.

Why is aluminum better than steel roofing for Wisconsin homes?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, which develops a thin, protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. In Fairfield's climate of roughly 863 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling, this matters tremendously: steel requires ongoing protective coatings and will eventually perforate, but aluminum becomes more durable over time. Add the Alunar 70% PVDF finish on both sides, and you have a material that resists the corrosive effects of moisture and temperature swings for the life of your roof.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get insurance discounts?

Interlock panels carry the highest available impact rating—UL 2218 Class 4—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-dent rating means the roof resists the kind of impact damage that would compromise asphalt shingles or wood. Many homeowners qualify for insurance discounts because the roof reduces the risk of costly interior water damage. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification; they may lower your premium, offset some installation costs, and provide added peace of mind in severe weather.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional framing. Even the heavier profiles are negligible compared to asphalt shingles layered over decades. This light weight also means lower shipping costs and faster installation. Because the panels are aluminum, not steel, you avoid the combination of weight and corrosion risk that forces costly structural upgrades with heavier materials.

Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofs are the last roof you'll buy. While Interlock's upfront cost exceeds asphalt shingles, the math shifts over time: asphalt requires full tear-off and replacement every 15–25 years, whereas Interlock's lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner means no replacement cost during your ownership. Over a 40-year horizon, you'll avoid 2–3 asphalt replacements, each costing thousands in labor and disposal. Add the one-time transferable warranty—50 years from completion for the next owner—and resale value often recovers the premium. You're not paying more; you're buying out of the asphalt replacement cycle.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (such as Aged Copper Penny) reflect heat rather than absorb it the way asphalt does. In Fairfield's approximately 3,079 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance translates to lower attic and interior temperatures on sunny days. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable energy savings. While Wisconsin summers are mild compared to southern climates, the reflective benefit stacks up year-round: you reduce the infrared load your HVAC system must manage, lowering utility bills modestly but consistently over decades of operation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Interlock's seamless interlocking design sheds debris; rain washes away dust. Unlike asphalt shingles that curl and deteriorate, wood that splits and rots, or tile that cracks, aluminum panels are immune to those failure modes. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so color stability is engineered in. You might rinse off leaves after fall or inspect gutters, but there are no missing-shingle repairs, no wood treatment, no tile replacement. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden, which means lower long-term ownership cost and more of your time back.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Fairfield, and how long have they served the area?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served Walworth County and the broader region since 2001—over two decades of experience installing these panels through Wisconsin winters, ice dams, and wind events. Local presence matters: they understand Fairfield's climate nuances, building codes, and the specific snow and freeze-thaw stresses your roof will face. They're familiar with installing over existing structures without unnecessary tear-offs, managing proper ventilation in humid climates, and ensuring four-way interlock integrity in real-world conditions. Working with an installer who has tracked thousands of roofs through regional seasons gives you confidence in both craftsmanship and long-term performance.
