What our customers are saying:
Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI
I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.
Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.
We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.
The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!
First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.
We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.
In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!
We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.
The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Richmond
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Richmond, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Richmond.
Will metal roofing hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Richmond experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days per year, where moisture enters cracks and splits wood or concrete tiles. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the material expands and contracts uniformly without developing the stress fractures that plague asphalt, wood, and tile. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against environmental degradation, so seasonal temperature swings won't compromise the finish. Four-way interlocking panels also prevent water infiltration that triggers ice-dam damage.
How does an aluminum metal roof handle Richmond's snow and ice buildup?
Aluminum's extreme lightness—the Cedar Shingle profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your roof carries the snow load without requiring structural reinforcement, even with Richmond's average 84 cm of snow annually. The smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt's sticky granules, reducing dangerous ice-dam conditions that trap meltwater. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer to slow shedding. Unlike wood shakes or slate, aluminum won't crack under the weight cycling of repeated thawing and refreezing that Walworth County experiences.
Does a metal roof rust in a climate as wet as Wisconsin's?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—only the self-healing oxide layer develops on the surface. Steel roofs eventually show rust staining and structural loss; aluminum remains stable indefinitely. With 838 mm of annual rainfall and gusts reaching 100 km/h in wind events, your roof faces constant moisture and weather stress. The Alunar coating on both sides of every panel adds a second defense in salt-air environments. This combination is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to Antarctica since 1998—corrosion simply isn't a failure mode.
Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
In almost all cases, no reinforcement is needed—that's one of aluminum's biggest structural advantages. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft; it's roughly 96% lighter than the material it mimics. Most homes built to carry asphalt shingles (about 2–3 lb/sq ft) can easily support Interlock's lightest profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft. This matters in Richmond, where 84 cm of annual snow adds temporary load; lighter roofing means the same snow burden stresses your framing less. Many homeowners even install Interlock over existing roofs, avoiding costly tear-off and disposal.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
The math shifts when you measure across the roof's full life, not just opening price. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Walworth County's 83 annual freeze-thaw days and 84 cm snow; you'll replace them 2–3 times. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty on the original owner, plus 50-year transferability to the next owner, means you install once and never replace it. No tear-off labor, no landfill fees, no re-roofing every generation. Over 50+ years, you eliminate three full replacement cycles. Add lower maintenance costs, potential insurance discounts (Class 4 hail rating), and energy savings from energy-efficiency reflective coatings, and the total cost per year drops well below asphalt.
Will a metal roof reduce my homeowner's insurance premiums?
Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs—the highest hail rating available—which Interlock achieves across all profiles. Some carriers also recognize non-combustible Class A fire ratings and the near-zero maintenance risk compared to asphalt. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, a safeguard most other materials can't match. Contact your insurer with the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) and UL listing to discuss eligibility; many regional insurers in Wisconsin acknowledge metal roofing's durability. Savings vary by policy, but the impact protection alone is valued by insurers in hail-prone regions.
Can metal roofing withstand Richmond's wind gusts and storms?
Absolutely. Walworth County averages gusts near 100 km/h; Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The mechanical interlock on all four edges of every panel—not fasteners alone—distributes wind load across the entire roof system, preventing lift and panel separation. This design outperforms standing-seam roofs, which rely on fasteners and can fail at the seams during extreme gusts. The ESR-1790 evaluation confirms wind performance under IBC/IRC code. Over 25 years of operation in Richmond's climate, you gain the confidence that your roof will stay secure through any seasonal storm the region throws at it.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?
Minimal compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles require moss treatment, granule monitoring, and gutter cleaning every few years in climates with 838 mm annual rain. Wood shakes split and require repairs; tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum develops no moss, doesn't rot or curl, and the hard surface sheds debris naturally. Annual gutter cleaning is all most homeowners need. The CALGreen-verified design reflects its low-maintenance character. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is self-protecting—it's not something you repaint or refinish. In Richmond's wet, freezing climate, avoiding wood rot and asphalt deterioration alone saves thousands in repair calls over 50 years.
Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in summer?
Yes, when you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council-rated finishes reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84. In summer, this means less heat enters your attic and less air-conditioning load. Richmond receives about 3,084 sunshine hours per year, so reflectance compounds across thousands of hours annually. While Wisconsin winters dominate the climate, the energy benefit still applies during shoulder seasons and heat waves. Paired with a solid deck and underlayment (which also dampens rain noise), the thermal envelope performs better than asphalt, which absorbs and radiates heat. Some homeowners report 5–15% cooling savings depending on color and home orientation.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Richmond, and how long have they served the area?
