Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in La Grange

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in La Grange, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in La Grange.

How does a metal roof handle La Grange's average 88 centimeters of snow per winter?

Metal roofs shed snow more efficiently than asphalt because the hard, smooth surface and interlocking design don't trap moisture the way shingles do. La Grange gets roughly 88 cm of snow annually with about 81 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cause asphalt shingles to cup and crack. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay rigid through these temperature swings, and you can add optional snow guards if you want controlled shedding rather than slides. The lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural concerns even with heavy accumulation.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling damage some roofs but not aluminum?

Water gets into asphalt and wood shingles, freezes, expands, and splits the material from inside. Aluminum doesn't absorb water, so there's nothing to freeze and crack. La Grange experiences around 81 freeze-thaw cycles yearly plus 775 mm of annual rainfall—precisely the conditions that shorten asphalt life. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is also non-ferrous, so the surface oxide layer self-heals from scratches rather than rusting. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking, adds another defense against the damp-cold-thaw pattern typical here.

Can a metal roof rust in Wisconsin winters with road salt and moisture?

No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a protective oxide layer that actually heals itself when scratched. Steel roofing rusts in these conditions; aluminum doesn't. Interlock uses only roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24 / 3003-H24) and applies the Alunar fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel—extra protection against the freeze-thaw moisture cycling La Grange sees roughly 81 days per year. Even in harsh climates with salt spray, Interlock panels have performed since 1998, from coastal British Columbia to Antarctic research stations.

Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over your existing roof without structural work in the vast majority of La Grange homes. Even the heavier Shake profile comes in at just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Asphalt or wood shingles typically weigh 2–3 lb/sq ft, so you're often replacing something heavier with something much lighter. An engineer may want to review if your home is extremely old or has known framing issues, but structural reinforcement is rarely the barrier it is with traditional tile.

Will a metal roof hold up to Wisconsin wind gusts?

Yes. La Grange experiences typical daily-max winds around 20 km/h with gusts reaching about 100 km/h—well within what Interlock's four-way interlocking design is engineered to withstand. The system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating further proves the panels' structural rigidity. Wisconsin's late-winter and spring gust events won't lift or separate properly installed Interlock panels.

Does hail damage affect metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock panels meet UL 2218 Class 4—the highest hail impact classification available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer discounts on policies for homes with Class 4 metal roofing. While Wisconsin hail events vary year to year, the durability rating is now a documented asset on your home's record. Some homeowners also see lower premiums because metal roofs eliminate the need for frequent repairs asphalt roofs require. Check with your carrier to confirm what discount they offer for this impact class in Walworth County.

What does the warranty cover, and how long does the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from completion. No other major roofing material offers a non-prorated lifetime promise. Interlock panels manufactured since 1998 are still performing in salt-air and freeze-thaw climates like La Grange, where you see about 81 freeze-thaw days and 775 mm rain yearly. Most owners never need a second roof; the panels outlast the house.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Almost none. Asphalt requires biennial inspections, moss treatment, and granule replacement in damp climates—La Grange gets 775 mm of rain annually plus 88 cm of snow. Wood and tile need regular sealing, repointing, and individual piece replacement. Interlock metal roofing requires occasional gutter cleaning and a simple visual inspection every few years. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, meaning no repainting. The aluminum itself won't rot, split, or curl through Wisconsin's 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year. CALGreen verification confirms the maintenance-free profile—you're buying decades of predictability.

Is there an experienced installer near La Grange, and how long is the installation?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and installs throughout Walworth County, including La Grange. A typical residential roof takes 1–3 days depending on size and profile selected. One major advantage: Interlock can install directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating a costly tear-off and landfill disposal. The crew removes only penetrations like old vents, installs underlayment and flashing, and locks the panels in place. No structural reinforcement is usually needed because the Slate, Shingle, Shake, Tile, or Standing Seam profile you choose weighs so little. The local team knows La Grange's wind patterns, snow loads, and winter installation windows.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes, at scale. Asphalt shingles end up in landfills by the ton; an average roof tear-off sends 10–15 tons of waste per house. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, so it never becomes landfill. The manufacturing process itself is cleaner than asphalt production. Over a 50+ year lifespan, you eliminate multiple tear-offs and landfill trips. La Grange homeowners who install metal roofing also avoid the maintenance chemical treatments asphalt and wood roofs require in our 775 mm annual rainfall climate. A single metal roof installed now and never replaced again is the most responsible choice for landfill reduction and embodied carbon.
