Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nora

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nora, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nora.

Will a metal roof hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum is immune to the damage that breaks down asphalt and wood. Nora experiences about 87 freeze-thaw days per year, where water penetration and expansion would crack traditional shingles or cause rot. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy contains no iron, so it cannot rust or corrode as moisture cycles between freezing and thaw. The four-way interlocking seams shed water before it pools, and the material itself expands and contracts without splitting or cracking. Over 27 years of installations from coastal salt-air regions to Arctic conditions, this design has proven itself in climates far harsher than Dane County.

How does Interlock metal roofing handle heavy snow loads?

The roof sheds snow efficiently because of its smooth, hard surface and tight interlocking geometry. Nora averages about 86 centimeters of snow annually, and the light weight of Interlock panels—the Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your home's structure carries far less total load than it would with traditional slate or concrete tile. Snow may accumulate briefly, but it slides off when the sun warms the aluminum surface. If you want added security in a heavy snow year, snow guards install easily. Because the system is so light, there's no need for structural reinforcement; the roof installs directly over most existing decks, saving thousands on engineering and framing work.

Are metal roofing panels secure in Dane County's wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Nora's typical wind gusts reach 95 km/h (59 mph), well within that margin. The four-way lock—where adjacent panels interlock on all sides—distributes wind pressure across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual fasteners. This redundant connection is why the design holds up in coastal hurricanes and mountain passes. Installation per the ESR-1790 evaluation (the current ICC-ES code reference for 2025) ensures that fasteners are correctly spaced and torqued. Gusts won't lift panels or create flutter noise; the roof stays tight and silent.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In Dane County's climate, hail is an occasional risk, not routine, but when it strikes, aluminum's hardness and flexibility absorb impact without denting or cracking the way asphalt, wood, or concrete tile does. Some insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for impact-rated metal roofing; you'll want to check with your carrier to see what credit applies. Over 27 years of field history, perforation claims on Interlock roofs are extraordinarily rare—the material simply doesn't fail under hail the way traditional materials do.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. The material naturally forms an oxide layer that shields the metal beneath; when that layer is scratched, it self-heals. Interlock panels are fabricated from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), then coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—that two-sided protection is critical in salt-air environments and offers extra defense in freeze-thaw cycles where moisture clings to roof surfaces. The coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Nora's humid continental climate with about 788 mm of annual rainfall, corrosion from trapped moisture is a real concern for steel roofing or untreated fasteners, but aluminum simply will not rust, no matter how wet the winters get.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning there is no degradation schedule; it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This structure reflects the real lifespan: aluminum doesn't degrade like asphalt (which hardens and cracks within 15–20 years in Nora's freeze-thaw environment), and the PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against fading. Installed in 1998, the first Interlock roofs are now 27 years old with no material failures reported. You're buying the last roof you'll install.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's life, aluminum is cheaper. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Wisconsin's freeze-thaw climate (Nora sees about 87 thaw-freeze days annually), then you tear it off and landfill it, then buy a second roof. Metal roofs don't degrade that way. The Interlock system installs over most existing roofs—no tear-off cost—and lasts 50+ years with zero material replacement. When you factor in tear-off labor, disposal fees, and the cost of a second installation on an older home, a metal roof paid for itself by year 30. Add the energy savings from reflective coatings (energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55) in summer months, and the math shifts even faster. It's not cheaper upfront, but it is cheaper over time—significantly.

Does a metal roof really save money on cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors on Interlock panels reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84. On Nora's roughly 3,093 annual sunshine hours, that reflection cuts the heat absorbed by your roof deck and reduces air-conditioning demand on warm days. The Cool Roof Rating Council has verified these values independently. The savings depend on your cooling system and how much you run it—air conditioning isn't the primary heating load in a Wisconsin winter—but in summer, the energy return is real and measurable. Pair the reflective coating with proper attic ventilation, and you'll notice the difference in July and August. It's not transformative in a cold climate, but it's a permanent, maintenance-free efficiency upgrade that pays incrementally over decades.

How much maintenance does Interlock metal roofing need compared to wood or asphalt?

Virtually none. Asphalt requires inspection every few years and patches as it hardens and cracks in freeze-thaw cycles; wood shakes need treatment against rot and insect damage, especially in a climate with 788 mm of annual rain. Aluminum requires no sealing, staining, or chemical treatment. Debris—leaves, needles—should be cleared from gutters and valleys annually, just as with any roof, but the metal itself is inert. Snow and rain clean the coating; the 30-year PVDF finish resists chalking and fading without recoating. The CALGreen program acknowledges this advantage: certified reduced-maintenance roofing. Over 50 years, you'll spend perhaps one afternoon a year on gutters. That's it. No emergency patches, no rot repairs, no surprises.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles, and how long does it take?

Yes—one of the biggest advantages of Interlock's light weight. The Shingle profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile (which looks like heavy clay or concrete tile) weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood-shake decks. Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity; the four-way interlocking panels lock together as they go, so there's no overlapping, nailing, and re-nailing like asphalt. Because the system meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 (current 2025 edition), your local inspector will recognize the installation standard. You eliminate the mess and cost of a tear-off, and you're under a new roof in less than a week.
