Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026 Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Review: May 17, 2017

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Yahara Hills

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Yahara Hills, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Yahara Hills.

How does metal roofing handle Yahara Hills' heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because their smooth, interlocked surface prevents the adhesion that creates ice dams. Yahara Hills receives about 89 cm of snow annually across roughly 84 freeze-thaw days, meaning your roof cycles between freezing and melting constantly. Aluminum's thermal conductivity helps equalize surface temperature, reducing the freeze-thaw stress that splits wood shakes and cracks slate. Unlike materials that absorb moisture and fail under repeated expansion, aluminum's oxide layer remains impervious to the trapped water that destroys traditional roofs in your climate.

Why does aluminum roofing never rust, even after 20+ years in Wisconsin?

Aluminum contains zero iron—the element that rusts—so rust is physically impossible. When aluminum's surface scratches, a new oxide layer self-heals automatically, sealing the exposed metal within hours. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant coating maintenance because iron oxidation never stops. Yahara Hills' 781 mm annual rainfall and winter salt use create ideal conditions for corrosion; aluminum remains unaffected. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is the same material used in coastal salt-air installations and even Antarctic research stations—if it survives there, Wisconsin's inland climate poses no threat.

Can a metal roof survive Yahara Hills' 84 annual freeze-thaw days without degradation?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives under freeze-thaw stress because it doesn't absorb water or expand when frozen. Wood shakes absorb moisture and split; asphalt hardens and cracks in cold; slate and tile fracture at the edges where water enters micro-cracks and expands. Aluminum panels remain dimensionally stable across the full temperature range. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) protects the substrate from UV damage that accelerates freeze-thaw failure in other materials. Your 84 annual cycles will not degrade aluminum or its coating—Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers cracking and splitting for the life of your ownership.

Is a metal roof secure during Yahara Hills' wind gusts, which reach 104 km/h?

Yes—Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), exceeding your region's peak gusts of 104 km/h by a significant margin. The four-way interlocking system ties each panel mechanically to its neighbors and the deck below, distributing wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design prevents the flutter and lifting that compromise single-fastener systems. During typical Yahara Hills wind events (about 20 km/h average with occasional strong gusts), the roof moves as a unified structure, not as individual shingles. The warranty covers wind resistance when installed to specification, and no additional reinforcement is needed.

What hail protection does metal roofing offer in areas prone to severe storms?

Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's inherent flexibility allows it to absorb impact energy without cracking, unlike slate, tile, or asphalt shingles, which fracture and require replacement after hail. Insurance companies often recognize Class 4 metal roofs as reduced-risk, potentially lowering your premium; contact your carrier for specific discounts. Yahara Hills' thunderstorm season brings hail risk, and aluminum's non-brittle response means a single storm won't compromise your roof's integrity or trigger a major insurance claim like wood or ceramic materials would.

Can my older home's frame support a metal tile roof without expensive structural upgrades?

Almost certainly yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Even homes with older framing designed for standard asphalt (which weighs about 1.5–2.5 lb/sq ft) easily support aluminum metal tile. The four-way interlocking system distributes the load evenly, and the panels install over most existing roofs, eliminating tear-off labor and debris removal. This lightweight approach lets you achieve the visual weight of traditional tile without the engineering costs that make genuine tile prohibitive on many Wisconsin homes. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC structural codes for your region.

Does a metal roof reduce cooling costs in a Wisconsin climate?

Reflective Interlock colors reduce cooling load throughout Yahara Hills' roughly 3089 annual sunshine hours by bouncing heat away rather than absorbing it like dark asphalt. energy-efficient profiles offer thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council. This means less summer heat entering your attic and lower air-conditioning cost during warm months. Winter performance differs: the roof's reflectance doesn't significantly impair passive solar gains because Yahara Hills' low sun angle in winter (9.1°C mean annual temperature) limits solar heating. The net effect is modest but measurable year-round utility savings, plus the roof won't age into dark brittleness like asphalt does—reflectivity remains stable for 30 years under the coating warranty.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and does it transfer if I sell my home?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material coverage for the original owner—meaning no deductibles or declining benefits over time. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell your home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding tangible resale value. This transferability is rare in the roofing industry and reflects aluminum's genuine durability; Interlock has manufactured panels since 1998, and installation records confirm roofs lasting 20+ years without material failure. For Yahara Hills homeowners, this means the roof you install today becomes a selling point, not a liability, when you move.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt, wood, or tile?

Aluminum requires virtually no routine maintenance—no re-sealing, no reshingle replacement, and no individual panel repairs. Asphalt shingles require inspection and spot replacement every 5–10 years; wood shakes split and rot, requiring constant repair; slate and tile fracture and must be re-pointed. Interlock's non-porous aluminum surface resists algae and mold growth, and the Alunar coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) protects finish without refinishing. Annual gutter cleaning removes debris, and occasional rinsing removes dust—the same tasks required by any roof. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to traditional materials. Over a 50-year period, the time and cost savings are substantial, freeing your budget for other home priorities.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing serve Yahara Hills, and how experienced is the installer?

Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer's local installer partner, has served the Dane County region since 2001. This means your project benefits from 20+ years of Wisconsin-specific installation knowledge: ice dam prevention strategies tailored to your freeze-thaw cycles, proper snow guard placement for 89 cm annual snowfall, and wind-resistant fastening techniques proven through dozens of local installations. The installer holds direct access to technical support from Interlock's manufacturing team in Delta, BC, ensuring any unforeseen issues resolve quickly and correctly. When you call for service—whether routine inspection or warranty claim—you're contacting a local partner with deep roots in your community, not a distant roofing contractor unfamiliar with metal panel specifics.
