I never really thought I could be thrilled about a roof, but I have to tell you; our new Interlock roof is beautiful! It adds true elegance to our home. We know it adds value as well, and the fact that we will never need to re-roof again is a definite advantage. Everyone within our organization, from the initial phone contact to the installation crew, was courteous and pleasant to work with. The install went smoothly and the crew kept the site clean from beginning to end. Everybody we have shown our Interlock roof to has seemed quite impressed also. We would (and in fact have already done so) recommend Interlock Roofing to others.

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sylvania

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sylvania, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sylvania.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles without damage?

Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure actually strengthens under freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt or wood. Sylvania experiences roughly 80 freeze-thaw days per year combined with about 82 cm of snow, the conditions that crack and curl conventional roofing. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels (ASTM B209 certified) was chosen specifically because it remains dimensionally stable through infinite thermal cycling. The self-healing oxide layer also means microscopic stress fractures close on their own, adding years of life that brittle materials simply cannot match.

Why can't an aluminum roof rust, and does that matter in Wisconsin?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, it forms a transparent, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. In Sylvania's 835 mm annual rainfall and winter salt-spray environments, this matters enormously: steel roofing requires constant maintenance to prevent iron oxide staining and structural failure, while Interlock's dual-coated Alunar PVDF finish (applied to both sides) adds 30-year color and corrosion protection. After 25+ years of installations from coastal salt air to Antarctic research stations, the aluminum panels show no rust—only the original material, uncompromised by the wet-cold cycles your region endures.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads and ice dams in Sylvania winters?

Metal roofs shed snow more efficiently than asphalt because their smooth, hard surface and tight seams don't trap moisture that freezes into dams. Sylvania averages about 82 cm of snow annually across roughly 120 freeze-thaw days—conditions that promote ice dam formation on traditional roofing. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels (ESR-1790 certified for IBC/IRC codes) create zero gaps where melt-water refreezes, while the metal's thermal conductivity allows some passive heat loss that discourages dam buildup. Optional snow guards are available to control shedding onto walkways; the lightweight panels (Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft) add no structural load even when temporary snow accumulation occurs.

Can a metal roof handle Wisconsin wind gusts without lifting or failing?

The four-way interlocking panel design resists uplift that would tear conventional shingles apart. Sylvania's typical gusts reach 99 km/h, with climate data showing mean daily-max winds around 20 km/h—patterns that stress single-fastened asphalt roofing. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specification, exceeding Wisconsin building codes. The mechanical lock between panels (four sides, not two) distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This design has proven effective from coastal storms to mountain valleys where 100+ mph gusts occur regularly.

Do I need to reinforce my house frame for a metal roof?

Your home likely doesn't need structural reinforcement because Interlock's aluminum panels weigh 96% less than concrete or clay tile. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, while traditional tile weighs 15+ lb/sq ft—a difference that would require expensive framing upgrades. Because Sylvania homes were built to standard roof loads, most can accept an Interlock roof directly over the existing deck. This also means installation over current asphalt shingles is often possible, saving tear-off labor and keeping waste out of landfills. Engineers specify aluminum precisely because it delivers tile's aesthetic without tile's structural penalty.

What's the installation timeline for a metal roof in Sylvania, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days depending on roof size and complexity; the lightweight panels (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) install quickly without heavy equipment or structural delays. Yes, Interlock can install directly over existing asphalt in most cases because the aluminum weight creates no structural burden. Your local Interlock installer has served the region since 2001 and handles the permitting, underlayment preparation, and panel sequencing to ensure tight interlocks and proper drainage. Sylvania's average of about 3,094 annual sunshine hours provides good weather windows; winter installations are possible but typically scheduled for spring through fall to avoid snow interference.

Does an aluminum metal roof resist hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating is the highest available, meaning the panels withstand hailstones up to 1.5 inches without perforation—a threshold that destroys asphalt and compromises most metal roofing. The warranty explicitly covers hail-perforation damage within this range. Some Sylvania insurers offer discounts (typically 10–20%) for Class 4 roofing because claims frequency drops dramatically. Wisconsin's severe-weather seasons create hail risk that makes impact resistance worth the inspection call; one claim avoided often recoups the cost of upgrading from asphalt to certified metal roofing.

How long will a metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian warranty covers the original owner for the roof's lifetime (50+ years typical) and transfers once to the next owner with 50 years of remaining coverage from completion—a portable benefit that adds measurable resale value. Coverage is non-prorated and includes rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The Alunar PVDF coating is warranted separately for 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). Most Interlock installations in similar Wisconsin climates still look and function flawlessly after 20+ years, so the warranty genuinely reflects expected lifespan rather than marketing language.

Will an energy-efficiency metal roof actually reduce my cooling costs in summer?

Select Interlock colors are energy-efficient with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. Sylvania receives about 3,094 sunshine hours annually—enough summer heating to justify cool-roof technology. The Cool Roof Rating Council certifies these reflective properties, reducing attic temperatures by 15–25°F on sunny days and cutting air-conditioning load noticeably during Wisconsin's warmer months. Because Interlock panels last 50+ years, the cumulative energy savings (and reduced HVAC wear) compound over decades, offsetting much of the initial material cost.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require compared to asphalt or traditional tile?

Essentially none beyond annual gutter cleaning—aluminum requires no sealant reapplication, no shingle replacement, and no moss or algae treatment that plague asphalt and wood. Asphalt shingles require repairs every 5–8 years in Sylvania's wet climate (835 mm rain annually); tile and slate need periodic mortar repointing and individual piece replacement. Interlock's solid aluminum panels and factory-sealed interlocks eliminate moisture intrusion, wood rot, and the costly maintenance cycles that keep competitors in business. The CALGreen program verifies Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile, translating to lower out-of-pocket expense and fewer service calls over your roof's 50-year life.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Sylvania’s climate?

Yes. Sylvania averages about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
