We had planned to use asphalt shingles. We looked around our city and were rather dismayed at how damaged the roofs were from local storms and high winds. Even new houses and recently reroofed buildings had damage. Neighbours were commenting on how much the cost of asphalt shingle reroofing has increased recently.

The sales person told us there was a 50 year non prorated warranty. The warranty information we received in the mail said it is transferable to only one owner. I was not told that. It should be 50 years no matter how many owners are after us.
