I would first apologize for such a delay in this letter. As you were aware, when we spoke to you, we had just purchased our house, and we’re still in the process of continuing with additional modifications, including the installation of your companies INTERLOCK ROOFING SYSTEM, We have had the new roof for the past six months, and I am astounded that so few people have taken advantage of such a roofing design. We have been through a few storms since the installation, and they were bad, however, we actually heard no noise from the pounding rains, which I was concerned as the roofing is aluminum. I must also add that your staff was outstanding. The fact that I am a police officer meant that some mornings I was not up as bright and early as your staff. They, however, were very obliging in working on another area of the roof, until after I had awakened. I never did hear them up on the roof. They were also very meticulous in ensuring all of the leftover debris was cleaned up. In closing, I can only hope that your company somehow reaches a lot more homeowners, as your system of roofing is not only exceptionally sound, safe and pleasing to the eve, more importantly, it is ecological, thus saving some of our near depleted natural resources. All the best to you and your endeavours. And again thank you for helping us to purchase a roofing system which will be with us for many, many years to come.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mississauga

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Mississauga often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Mississauga may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

How long will a metal roof last in Mississauga, ON?

Metal roofs in Mississauga commonly last at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically have shorter lifespans (often ~15–25 years). Mississauga has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters, which drives strong seasonal thermal cycling and UV exposure in summer. Proximity to Lake Ontario increases humidity and lake‑effect precipitation, and winter snow loads plus frequent freeze–thaw cycles can accelerate wear on lesser materials. Homeowners often choose metal for its resistance to rot, UV, hail and wind, plus superior performance under repeated freeze–thaw and heavy-snow conditions. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminium and include a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection, making them a sensible choice for Mississauga homes comparing longevity and durability.

How much does it cost to install a metal roof in Mississauga, ON?

In Mississauga, ON, metal roofs typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles. Final price varies with roof size, slope, and complexity (multiple planes, valleys, dormers), plus tear-off, flashing, skylights and local labour rates. Local construction factors — access, permits, seasonal scheduling and waste disposal — also affect quotes. Many homeowners judge options by lifetime value rather than initial price: metal roofing often carries longer warranties, superior durability and lower maintenance, which can reduce repair and premature replacement costs over decades. When comparing bids, consider expected service life, energy performance, resale impact and maintenance needs rather than just the lowest quote. Interlock Metal Roofing focuses on long-term ownership value — durable systems, professional installation and warranty-backed performance — rather than competing solely as a low-cost roofing option.

Should I choose metal roofing or asphalt shingles for my Mississauga home?

Mississauga has cold, snowy winters with regular freeze–thaw cycles and humid, wet summers—conditions that stress roofing materials year-round. Metal roofing typically outlasts asphalt shingles (40–70+ years vs 15–25 years), resists wind, ice and snow better, and needs less frequent replacement. Asphalt shingles cost less up front and are easier and cheaper to repair, but they can suffer accelerated wear from repeated freeze–thaw cycles and heavy snow loads. Maintenance: metal needs occasional inspections and fastener checks; shingles need more frequent repairs, moss control and replacement of damaged areas. Durability and long‑term value: metal offers higher lifecycle value in Mississauga’s climate if you plan to stay long term, but asphalt can be cost‑effective for shorter ownership horizons. Homeowners who prioritise durability and long‑term protection often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing appeals for its long lifespan, proven resistance to local weather stresses and strong architectural curb appeal.

Are metal roofs noisy when it rains in Mississauga?

This is a common myth: modern residential metal roofs in Mississauga, ON aren’t the loud, tin‑barn roofs many imagine. When installed over solid decking, with appropriate underlayment and insulation, metal roofing does not produce excessive rain noise. The amount you hear depends on the roof assembly—insulation, attic space and venting, and underlayments all dampen sound—and on installation quality; poor fastening or gaps can increase noise. Properly installed residential metal roofs typically sound similar to asphalt shingles or tile. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are supplied and fitted as complete residential roofing systems, engineered to meet thermal, acoustic and weatherproofing needs for homes.

How energy-efficient are metal roofs in Mississauga?

Yes—metal roofing can be energy efficient in Mississauga. Metal panels reflect sunlight, reducing summer heat gain and lowering cooling demand when combined with reflective coatings. However, overall energy performance depends on the entire roof assembly: insulation levels, air sealing and attic ventilation are critical to control heat loss in winter and heat transfer year‑round. Mississauga’s climate—cold winters and warm, humid summers—means reflective benefits are valuable in summer but must be balanced with adequate insulation for winter. Homeowners researching roof replacement often weigh energy efficiency to reduce utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, extend roof and HVAC life, and meet building codes or rebate programmes. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered to integrate with proper assemblies and support long‑term home performance.

How does metal roofing in Mississauga, ON withstand wind, hail, and severe weather?

Mississauga faces seasonal thunderstorms, hail, freezing‑rain/ice storms, heavy snow and strong winds that can damage roofs and cause leaks or structural strain. Metal roofing generally performs well: interlocking panels resist uplift in high winds, steel or aluminium profiles shed snow and ice, and many offer good impact resistance to hail. Actual performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality and material durability—proper underlayments, flashings and fasteners plus professional installation are essential to meet wind and hail expectations and reduce ice‑dam risks. Homeowners prioritise weather resilience to limit repair and replacement costs, interior damage, insurance impacts and downtime. Regular inspections after severe weather preserve long‑term performance. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection and wind resistance.

Will a metal roof rust or corrode in Mississauga's wet climate?

Metal roofing performance depends on the type of metal used; steel, zinc, copper and aluminium each behave differently in wet, salty or industrial atmospheres. Some materials are inherently more corrosion-resistant than standard galvanized steel. Aluminium performs especially well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a protective oxide layer and resists salt-induced corrosion. Homeowners should consider corrosion resistance when selecting roofing materials to ensure longer service life, lower maintenance and repair costs, and to protect appearance and property value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, helping extend service life and reduce long-term costs.

How often should I inspect and maintain my metal roof in Mississauga?

Metal roofing in Mississauga is generally low maintenance and highly durable, resisting rot, insect damage and many common roofing problems. No roof is completely maintenance‑free; homeowners should inspect their roof periodically—after major weather events and with the change of seasons. Check for accumulated debris (leaves, branches, salt), clear and repair gutters and downspouts, and inspect flashings, sealant and roof penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) for gaps or loose fasteners. Heavy snow, ice dams, wind events and seasonal debris can all affect performance. Consider a professional inspection every few years to catch issues early. With simple, timely upkeep, metal roofing provides long‑lasting, low‑maintenance protection suited to Mississauga’s climate.

How does curb appeal affect my home's resale value in Mississauga?

In Mississauga, ON, metal roofing can increase a home's resale appeal. Buyers consistently value durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce future upkeep costs, and premium roofing materials often enhance curb appeal — especially on streets where homes are well maintained. A long lifespan and strong warranty on metal roofs also improve buyer confidence during appraisal and inspection. Architectural style matters within neighbourhoods: the right roof profile should complement nearby homes to maximise value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems provide multiple architectural profiles — slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake and standing seam — in heavy‑gauge aluminium and solid copper, allowing homeowners to match local character while benefiting from metal’s durability and low maintenance.

Can I install solar panels on my Interlock Metal Roofing System in Mississauga?

Yes — Interlock Metal Roofing Systems in Mississauga are compatible with solar panels when fitted with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd. Mississauga’s snowy, freezing winters with frequent freeze–thaw cycles and seasonal rainfall can increase snow loads and corrosion risk, so roof condition and lifespan matter for safe, lasting solar installs. Choose long‑lasting roofing materials—like Interlock’s metal systems—when adding panels because they reduce re‑roofing needs and simplify mounting. Homeowners should consider planned solar installations when replacing a roof to ensure adequate load capacity, warranty alignment and optimal mounting integration; Interlock systems are designed to support solar mounting solutions.
