Joliet, IL Metal Roof Review — Interlock Roofing (Installed Mar 2026)

Joliet, IL

TL;DR: Joliet Review Summary

Roofing installation in Joliet: the homeowner replaced repeatedly failing shingle roofs—losing shingles after storms due to poor workmanship—with a metal roof from Interlock Roofing. The metal roof, though pricier, was installed in 2.5 days (11-hour days) by dependable, knowledgeable crews, includes a lifetime guarantee against coming apart, fading, or discoloration, and the homeowner says it’s worth the cost and recommends Interlock 100%.
Jan H.

Last March I started looking for a roofing company when I found Interlock Roofing. I was curious about what a metal roof would cost and the durability of the materials. To my surprise, although the cost of a metal roof is pricey it is well worth the extra money. I will never have to worry about having to replace a single shingle again! In the last 2 years, I have had a lot of repairs done on my roof using contractors who were not very good as I soon found out. I kept losing shingles with every wind that would pop up due to poor workmanship. Please believe me that a metal roof installed by Interlock is guaranteed to not come apart, fade or discolor or they will fix any issues found for the life of the roof although I do not expect to have to make a call to them if ever.

Interlocks workers spent 2.5 days installing my roof working 11 hours per day. They are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this company 100 percent!

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Joliet

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Joliet often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Joliet may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs in Joliet commonly last at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically wear out much sooner (often 15–30 years depending on quality). Joliet’s climate—cold, snowy, and windy winters with warm, humid summers—increases freeze–thaw cycling and regular snow loads, and the region also sees severe thunderstorms that can produce hail and high winds; these local stresses shorten asphalt lifespan but are handled well by metal roofing. Annual precipitation runs near 36–40 inches, so moisture and ice dam risk matter for underlayment and flashings. Homeowners choose metal for longevity, hail and wind resistance, and lower life‑cycle costs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminum and include a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection.
Expect a metal roof in Joliet to cost more upfront than asphalt shingles; exact pricing varies widely by roof size, slope, complexity, removal/tear‑off, flashing, skylights, and labor. Local factors—cold, snowy winters with frequent freeze–thaw cycles and a Midwest season of severe thunderstorms with hail and high winds—can affect material choice and installation details, which influence cost and long‑term performance. Many homeowners compare options on lifetime value rather than initial price: durable metal systems often reduce future repair and replacement costs and may justify higher upfront investment. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long‑term ownership value and performance rather than competing solely on lowest initial price.
Short answer: yes—often. Joliet’s cold, snowy winters, frequent freeze–thaw cycles and moderate annual precipitation (including hail risk) stress roofs, and hot, humid summers add UV/heat aging—factors that make durability important for local homeowners. Lifespan: asphalt shingles typically last ~15–30 years; quality metal roofs last 40+ years. Maintenance: asphalt needs more frequent inspections, spot repairs, and replacement of worn shingles; metal requires less routine upkeep. Durability: metal better resists hail, wind and repeated freeze–thaw cycling and sheds snow more effectively. Long-term value: higher upfront cost for metal but lower lifecycle replacement and potential energy savings can yield better value over decades. Homeowners who prioritize long-term protection and low maintenance often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing appeals locally because interlocking panels resist uplift, shed snow and ice, offer long-lasting finishes and strong architectural curb appeal for lasting performance.
Many people in Joliet think metal roofs are loud in rain, but that’s a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking don’t sound like old barn roofs. Sound depends on the roof assembly—insulation, attic cavity, underlayment, and ventilation all reduce impact noise. Professional installation and proper fastening matter; poorly installed panels or missing underlayment can increase noise. When installed as a complete system with solid decking, underlayment, insulation and airtight attic spaces, metal roofing typically sounds similar to asphalt or tile roofs during rain. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are manufactured and installed as complete residential roofing systems, designed to minimize noise and perform like other modern roof coverings.
Yes—metal roofing can be energy efficient in Joliet, IL. Metal panels reflect sunlight and reduce heat gain during hot summer days, lowering attic temperatures. Overall energy performance also depends on the roof assembly: underlayment, insulation levels, and attic ventilation all influence heating and cooling loads. In a four-season climate like Joliet’s—hot, humid summers and cold winters—reflective coatings help summer comfort, while proper insulation and ventilation prevent heat loss in winter. Homeowners researching roof replacement often consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, and increase resale value while meeting local codes. Choosing a metal roof is one part of a whole‑house approach; when paired with correct insulation and ventilation it performs best. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.
Joliet’s roofs face severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, large hail, occasional tornadoes, heavy rain and winter snow/ice—conditions that routinely stress roofing materials and fasteners. Metal roofing generally performs very well: properly designed and installed metal resists wind uplift, sheds water and snow, and tolerates hail better than many asphalt systems, though severe hail can dent thinner panels. Actual performance depends on roofing system design (profile, underlayment, attachment), installer quality, and material durability (gauge, alloy, finish). Homeowners weigh weather resilience to protect structure, reduce repairs/insurance claims, and extend service life. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance—look for tested profiles and certified installers to match Joliet’s severe‑weather exposure. Look for third‑party test certifications (UL, FM) and manufacturer warranties when comparing systems.
Corrosion and rust resistance vary by metal: steel, galvanized, and aluminum each perform differently. Some metals develop surface rust unless protected; others, like aluminum, form a stable oxide layer that resists corrosion, making them ideal in wet or coastal conditions. In Joliet’s Midwest climate—rain, snow, freeze-thaw cycles and road salt—corrosion resistance affects lifespan, maintenance costs, leak risk, and curb appeal, so homeowners should prioritize it when choosing roofing materials. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, reducing long-term upkeep and preserving performance and appearance. Selecting corrosion-resistant metal also reduces staining and streaking, keeping the roof looking newer longer and helping protect warranties and resale value.
Metal roofing in Joliet, Illinois is generally considered a low‑maintenance choice: durable, corrosion‑resistant, and long‑lasting. That said, no roof is completely maintenance‑free. Homeowners should inspect their metal roof periodically—after major storms and seasonally—to check for accumulated debris, clogged gutters, damaged or loose flashing, and issues around penetrations (chimneys, vents, skylights). Remove leaves, branches, and grit that trap moisture or scratch coatings. Ensure fasteners are secure and seals remain intact. Severe weather, ice and snow, and seasonal debris from oaks or maples can increase wear or cause localized damage. With routine visual checks and minor upkeep, metal roofing provides reliable, low‑maintenance protection well suited to Joliet’s climate.
Yes. In Joliet, IL, metal roofing can increase home value because buyers consistently prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that lower long‑term ownership costs. Premium materials also boost curb appeal, making a house stand out in resale markets. A metal roof’s long lifespan and resistance to weather can improve buyer confidence and justify a higher asking price. That said, architectural style matters — a heavy, ornate metal profile may fit some Joliet neighborhoods better than a modern standing seam in historically styled areas. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper to match local styles while delivering durability and aesthetic value.
Joliet’s climate brings cold, snowy winters with frequent freeze–thaw cycling and occasional spring–summer hail and wind storms, factors that influence roof durability and mounting choices. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar installation when custom solar brackets are installed by Interlock Metal Roofing – Midwest. When comparing roofing materials here, prioritize long-lasting systems: roof lifespan matters because panels add weight and stay for decades. If you plan to add solar later, choose a durable roof now to avoid removing panels for reroofing. Interlock’s metal systems are solar-compatible and engineered to support solar mounting solutions, making them a strong option for Joliet homeowners dealing with snow, freeze–thaw cycles, and storm exposure.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

Corvallis, OR Metal Shingle Roof Review — Interlock (Installed 2017)

Review: April 24, 2026

Completion: November 9, 2017

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Metal Shingle Roof Review in New Bedford, MA — Interlock (Installed 2005)

Review: March 10, 2026

Completion: February 5, 2005

We had our whole house done by Interlock in 2005, we've only had one issue (wind damage) and they came out the next day to repair the damage. At the time we left a small overhang undone with plans of removing it, however our plans changed and the roof had deteriorated with the passing of time. I called and they were very receptive to coming out to inspect and then replace. The work was done quickly, on time and to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Interlock, you wont be sorry!

Review: January 29, 2026

Completion: July 8, 2011

We had our Interlock Metal Roof installed in 2011 and recently experienced some damage to the flashing. I called and spoke with Cheri, the Office and Service Department Administrator, who promptly scheduled Brad to assess the issue at the next available time. Despite one of the coldest winter days, Brad repaired the flashing efficiently and at no charge. I may be biased, but every time I pull into our driveway, I truly believe we have the best roof on our street. I would highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd.

Beaverton, OR Aluminum Shingles Repair Review — Gutter Pulled Corner Flashing, Fast Response

Review: January 20, 2026

Completion: August 10, 2001

Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.

Toronto, ON Metal Roof Review: Excellent Service & Solar Vent (2023)

Review: December 17, 2025

Completion: November 29, 2023

Had a metal roof installed a couple of years ago and love it. Had some issues lately and Ken (service technician and great guy) came to see the problem. He checked the roof and found no issues there. He then asked if he could go into the attic to have a look. When in the attic he noticed a few things including some missing insulation over the area that was having the issue. He re-spread the insulation and did a few other things as well which he thinks may resolve the problem. They also suggested adding a solar vent to move more air in the attic and came the next day to install it. Hopefully the problem is now resolved and I know that the roof is secure and also know that should I need more service they will promptly return. If considering a metal roof, contract these good folks!

Oakville, ON Metal Shingle Roof Review — Interlock Aluminum PVDF (2024)

Review: December 16, 2025

Completion: September 11, 2024

I have a new roof installed by Interlock and very pleased with the professionalism and aesthetics. My builder roof lasted 12 years and I needed something more durable. I spent months talking to steel roof installers and the thing that bothered me most, is whether the company will be around long enough to support warranty issues. The coatings were also prone to fading and I was looking for a worry free product.

My research led me to select aluminum roofing with PVDF coating for durability and resistance to Color fade. The lifetime transferable warranty and fact that Interlock has been in business for over 40 years led me to contact the company.

Interlock staff are courteous and Bruce gave a very fair price with a no pressure quote. My roof has some features that could affect aesthetics and Bruce arranged for special considerations at those locations. The installers were very courteous, and took the time necessary to do a great installation. They respected my views as a home owner and provided regular updates on progress and solutions. The installers cleaned up debris at the end of each day and coordinated with my neighbours to minimize impact from the roofing job. When rain was in the forecast the crew worked tirelessly to complete roofing sections that would be vulnerable to rainfall.

Overall I am pleased with everyone’s efforts and now hope the roof will be durable for many years.

Codys NB Metal Shingles Review — Leak-Free, Repair-Friendly Roof Install

Review: December 4, 2025

Completion: December 8, 2025

These wonderful folks managed to fit my new roof installation in right at the end of the year on a short timeline so that I could get solar panels installed as well. The team on site were friendly, professional, and clearly took a lot of pride in their work. The new roof looks great (and no longer leaks!). The metal shingles give me a lot more peace of mind, especially since they don't require removing an entire metal sheet to repair
