Oak Harbor, WA Metal Roofing — Interlock Aluminum Roof (Tudor Brown, 2007)

Oak Harbor, WA

TL;DR: Oak Harbor Review Summary

Roofing installation in Oak Harbor, Washington: the homeowner replaced an old shingle roof with an Interlock Roof System—interlocking aluminum panels in Tudor Brown—on a complex 3,000 sq. ft. house with numerous hips and valleys. A three‑man crew led by Peter removed the old shingles, installed 1/2″ CDX plywood sheathing and the new panels within ten working days, worked professionally and left the site tidy; the homeowner is fully satisfied, has received neighbor compliments, and expects the roof to last their lifetime.
Denton P.

The installation of our Interlock Roof System was completed this week to our total satisfaction and expectation!

The compliments of our new roof are just beginning to be received. Your installation crew of three young men, headed by Peter, are to be commended as they did an outstanding job of removing the old shingle roof, sheeting the roof surface with 1/2″ CDX plywood prior to installing the interlocking aluminum panels of Tudor Brown.

Our 3,000 sq. ft. home has numerous hips and <a href="”>valleys making it a more complicated roofing system than normal, but your installation crew was able to complete the project within ten working days.
The crew’s work ethic elicited several admiring comments from neighbors.

One comment was, ‘lt would be difficult to find a more hard working and thorough crew than what you had working on your home”.
We also appreciated the fact that the crew left the premises orderly after each day’s work and completely removed all debris when the project was completed.

The entire process from the visit of your sales representative, Glen Caldwell, to the work phase of the installation crew was done most professionally.
The end product is a roof that reflects quality and one that we will not have to replace in our lifetime.

Thank you.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oak Harbor

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Oak Harbor often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Oak Harbor may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs in Oak Harbor commonly last at least 50–75+ years with proper installation and maintenance; asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years and often need replacement sooner. Oak Harbor’s climate—about 25 inches of annual precipitation and light snowfall—plus persistent coastal moisture and periodic windy storms means moisture, salt spray and biological growth (moss/lichen) can shorten asphalt life but are well‑handled by metal roofing. Homeowners choose durable systems to minimize maintenance, resist corrosion and wind uplift, and avoid frequent re‑roofing. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminum and come with a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty, offering long‑term protection well suited to Oak Harbor’s marine, rainy, and windy environment.
In Oak Harbor, WA, a metal roof typically costs more upfront than asphalt shingles. Final price depends on roof size, slope and complexity, whether a tear-off is required, flashing and skylight work, and local labor, permit and access factors. Island access, weather and contractor availability around Whidbey Island can influence costs. Many homeowners compare roofing options by lifetime value rather than initial price: metal roofs generally offer longer service life, lower maintenance and fewer replacements. Durable roofing systems can reduce future repair and replacement expenses, helping offset higher first costs over decades. When choosing, compare warranties, expected lifespan and long‑term maintenance needs instead of only installation quotes. Interlock Metal Roofing focuses on delivering durable systems that maximize long‑term ownership value rather than competing as a low‑cost roofing option.
Short answer: for many Oak Harbor homeowners who prioritize durability and long-term protection, metal roofing is worth the higher upfront cost compared with asphalt shingles. Metal typically lasts 40–70+ years versus 15–30 years for asphalt, requires less routine patching, and resists coastal moisture, wind and algae/moss better—important here because Whidbey Island has mild, wet winters and coastal humidity that encourage moss growth even though overall rainfall is lower than mainland Seattle. Maintenance: metal needs occasional gutter and fastener checks; asphalt needs periodic shingle replacement and moss/algae cleaning. Durability: metal stands up better to wind, salt spray and moisture. Long-term value: higher initial cost but lower lifetime replacement and maintenance often gives better lifecycle value. Homeowners wanting long-term performance and architectural curb appeal often choose Interlock Metal Roofing systems for their longevity, watertight interlocking design and finished look.
This is a common myth: metal roofs in Oak Harbor, WA are often thought to be noisy in rain, but modern residential metal roofing installed over solid decking does not sound like old barn roofs. Sound depends on the roof assembly—insulation, attic space, underlayment, and fastening method all reduce impact noise. Quality installation and proper ventilation are critical: gaps, thin underlayment, or poor fastening can increase sound. When designed and installed as intended, residential metal roofs typically produce rain noise similar to asphalt shingles or tile. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems engineered for homes, with decking, underlayment, and profiles chosen to control sound.
In Oak Harbor, WA, a metal roof can be energy efficient because metal roofing reflects sunlight, reducing solar heat gain during sunnier days. Overall energy performance depends on the complete roof assembly—underlayment, insulation level, and attic ventilation all influence heat flow and moisture control. Oak Harbor’s mild, maritime climate means cooling loads are modest but damp winters and occasional sun make reflective and durable roofing beneficial; potential savings vary by house orientation, insulation, and HVAC usage. Homeowners researching roof replacement often consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, extend roof life, and boost resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered to work with proper assemblies and ventilation and are designed to support long-term home performance.
Oak Harbor’s coastal, marine‑influenced climate brings frequent heavy rain and strong wind events that can test roofs; regional forecasts note windy conditions and periods of rain typical for Puget Sound. Wind advisories and storms with gusts up to about 50 mph have been reported, so uplift and shingle damage are concerns. Metal roofing can perform very well in wind, hail, and heavy storms if the system is engineered and fastened for local wind loads, uses impact‑resistant profiles/coatings for hail protection, and includes proper underlayment and drainage. Performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality, and material durability. Homeowners consider weather resilience to reduce leak risk, maintenance, and long‑term repair costs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance.
Corrosion and rust resistance are critical for metal roofing in Oak Harbor, WA’s wet, coastal climate. Metal roofing performance depends on the type of metal—uncoated steel may corrode over time, while materials like aluminum and stainless alloys are naturally more resistant. Aluminum performs especially well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a protective oxide layer that resists rust. Homeowners should consider corrosion resistance when selecting roofing materials to protect structural integrity, avoid leaks and staining, reduce maintenance and extend service life in salty or rainy conditions. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, providing added defense against moisture and coastal exposure.
Metal roofs in Oak Harbor, Washington are generally low maintenance but not maintenance-free. Inspect roofs at least twice yearly and after storms—coastal rain, wind, salt spray and seasonal debris (needles, leaves) can affect fasteners, seams and finishes. Remove debris from panels and valleys, keep gutters clear, and check flashing, roof-to-wall transitions, vents and other penetrations for sealant or fastener issues. Replace or reseal damaged flashing and tighten or replace loose fasteners and trim corroded components promptly. With proper periodic inspections and minimal upkeep, metal roofing provides a durable, long‑lived option well suited to Whidbey Island’s marine‑influenced climate, offering strong resistance to rot and fire compared with other materials.
In Oak Harbor, WA, metal roofing can increase home value. Buyers often prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce future repair costs and insurance concerns. Premium roofing materials also boost curb appeal, making properties stand out in competitive neighborhoods. A long lifespan gives buyers confidence in fewer near‑term expenses and stronger resale prospects. That said, architectural style matters—houses in established Oak Harbor neighborhoods often favor particular roof looks, so matching local character helps preserve or enhance value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper, allowing homeowners to combine longevity with styles that complement neighborhood aesthetics locally.
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems can accept solar panels in Oak Harbor—custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. make them solar-compatible, and the profiles are designed to support solar mounting solutions. Because Oak Harbor’s coastal moisture, frequent rainfall and windy conditions can promote moss and faster wear, choosing a long‑lasting roof reduces future panel removals and labor costs. Homeowners replacing a roof should plan for future solar so the roof lifespan and attachment method align with PV plans; durable metal systems are often preferred for longevity and load capacity. Interlock’s systems are built for solar mounting and are a strong option for Whidbey Island homes influenced by marine climate.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

Corvallis, OR Metal Shingle Roof Review — Interlock (Installed 2017)

Review: April 24, 2026

Completion: November 9, 2017

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Metal Shingle Roof Review in New Bedford, MA — Interlock (Installed 2005)

Review: March 10, 2026

Completion: February 5, 2005

We had our whole house done by Interlock in 2005, we've only had one issue (wind damage) and they came out the next day to repair the damage. At the time we left a small overhang undone with plans of removing it, however our plans changed and the roof had deteriorated with the passing of time. I called and they were very receptive to coming out to inspect and then replace. The work was done quickly, on time and to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Interlock, you wont be sorry!

Completion: July 8, 2011

We had our Interlock Metal Roof installed in 2011 and recently experienced some damage to the flashing. I called and spoke with Cheri, the Office and Service Department Administrator, who promptly scheduled Brad to assess the issue at the next available time. Despite one of the coldest winter days, Brad repaired the flashing efficiently and at no charge. I may be biased, but every time I pull into our driveway, I truly believe we have the best roof on our street. I would highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd.

Beaverton, OR Aluminum Shingles Repair Review — Gutter Pulled Corner Flashing, Fast Response

Review: January 20, 2026

Completion: August 10, 2001

Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.

Toronto, ON Metal Roof Review: Excellent Service & Solar Vent (2023)

Review: December 17, 2025

Completion: November 29, 2023

Had a metal roof installed a couple of years ago and love it. Had some issues lately and Ken (service technician and great guy) came to see the problem. He checked the roof and found no issues there. He then asked if he could go into the attic to have a look. When in the attic he noticed a few things including some missing insulation over the area that was having the issue. He re-spread the insulation and did a few other things as well which he thinks may resolve the problem. They also suggested adding a solar vent to move more air in the attic and came the next day to install it. Hopefully the problem is now resolved and I know that the roof is secure and also know that should I need more service they will promptly return. If considering a metal roof, contract these good folks!

Oakville, ON Metal Shingle Roof Review — Interlock Aluminum PVDF (2024)

Review: December 16, 2025

Completion: September 11, 2024

I have a new roof installed by Interlock and very pleased with the professionalism and aesthetics. My builder roof lasted 12 years and I needed something more durable. I spent months talking to steel roof installers and the thing that bothered me most, is whether the company will be around long enough to support warranty issues. The coatings were also prone to fading and I was looking for a worry free product.

My research led me to select aluminum roofing with PVDF coating for durability and resistance to Color fade. The lifetime transferable warranty and fact that Interlock has been in business for over 40 years led me to contact the company.

Interlock staff are courteous and Bruce gave a very fair price with a no pressure quote. My roof has some features that could affect aesthetics and Bruce arranged for special considerations at those locations. The installers were very courteous, and took the time necessary to do a great installation. They respected my views as a home owner and provided regular updates on progress and solutions. The installers cleaned up debris at the end of each day and coordinated with my neighbours to minimize impact from the roofing job. When rain was in the forecast the crew worked tirelessly to complete roofing sections that would be vulnerable to rainfall.

Overall I am pleased with everyone’s efforts and now hope the roof will be durable for many years.

Codys NB Metal Shingles Review — Leak-Free, Repair-Friendly Roof Install

Review: December 4, 2025

Completion: December 8, 2025

These wonderful folks managed to fit my new roof installation in right at the end of the year on a short timeline so that I could get solar panels installed as well. The team on site were friendly, professional, and clearly took a lot of pride in their work. The new roof looks great (and no longer leaks!). The metal shingles give me a lot more peace of mind, especially since they don't require removing an entire metal sheet to repair
