I have passed along Dave Harrison's card. Would warn about possible time frame issues and the mess. Also I would liked to have seen a more clearly written contract (what's with the exclamation points, Dave?) but as a retired real estate broker maybe I'm being too picky. Apparently the roofer couldn't understand it either (or didn't read it) when I had to show him where it indicted "no ridge vent on the main house" which he was about to do. Communication as to the start date of our project and knowing when the workers were going to be here so we could plan our day. They would miss work here on beautiful days and then arrive at 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Not working on a rainy day is expected but it would have been nice if they (and not me) had picked up the tools that were left scattered around the lawn. Not getting a timely response to our ridge vent problem is an ongoing worry. It has been over a month since I contacted Dave Harrison and still we have had no word from Interlock. This project was a nightmare but we do like the look of the product and only hope that it was well installed. I had asked Dave Harrison for an estimate on another of our homes next door to my sister's re-roofing project on Gould Road, Warner. He never got back to me. I'm not sure my blood pressure could stand this again anyway.

Detailed Ratings

Sales Punctuality

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“When we signed your contract and gave Interlock our down payment on July 7, 2015 we were told the roof would be scheduled for the end of September or the beginning of October. We never received any notice of date change or anticipated start date and were very disappointed with the lack of communication from the salesperson (Dave Harrison) or your office. The roofing project finally began on November 6th and dragged on (or off and on) for 2 weeks.”

Sales Knowledge

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“A terrible lack of communication. Take our money and run was how it seemed. Salesman Dave Harrison explained the roof system well but I had to go over the contract with the workers who didn't understand how the roof was to be vented (contract reads: no ridge vent on the main house and 15 feet of ridge vent on our new addition). Ridge vent was not installed on the addition and we are still waiting for someone from Interlock to look at this problem.”

Employees Professionalism

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“Salesman and roofers were polite however we had difficulty understanding the workers, as they did us, or so it seemed (a language barrier). This led to misunderstanding when it came to protecting our property from preventable damage. For example, not covering our newly built deck before tossing old roofing down on it has left it blackened. It was implied by the supervisor (Paul ?) that I was lying when I complained that it was never covered (We were home for the entire project - well within view of the deck). Also had a part broken off our heat pump unit, lantern by the door pulled from the siding, window shutter damage, some denting to our aluminum siding. We have never had these problems with past roofing projects and feel it was preventable.”

Communication

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“Total lack of communication.”

Installation Crew

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“Our property was a complete mess during this project. Nothing was picked up - tools left outside, roofing paper thrown everywhere. We know that roofing is a messy job but this was over the top. I finally, with the help of a rake, took the blowing paper out of the trees, picked up drink cups and cigarette butts and picked up tools. Not happy.”

Quality Of Materials

★★★★ Agree
“We are not roofing experts so really have no way to judge the quality. Time will tell...”

Quality Of Workmanship

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“The roof is very attractive but we have concerns about the ridge vent that was to be installed on the room addition. We e-mailed Dave Harrison about this on December 10th and he responded on Dec. 14th that he had sent our concerns to the "install department". To date (Jan. 19th) we have heard from no one. This is very disappointing and we now wonder about the quality of the workmanship and the integrity of Interlock. Not to mention a potential mold problem.”

Clean & Safe

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“We have been homeowners since 1968 and have gone through several re-roofing projects both asphalt and standing seam (we own 4 houses and a very large barn). We have never seen such a mess as this project! The day started (at about 10:30) with an old tire being thrown from the van onto our front lawn, roofing paper festooned from the trees and shrubs, tools (including a circular saw) were abandoned on the front lawn during two days of rain, shirts hanging over our fence...this mess being very visible at our Main Street (Rt. 103) location.”

Professional Completion

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“We like the appearance of the roof but will need our contractor to examine the quality of workmanship. We thought it unusual that the workers did not arrive to work until late morning (if they came at all) and were working on the roof well after dark. That was an inconvenience to us at dinner time and a worry about their safety as well.”

Problem Resolution

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“We are still waiting for a representative from the "install department" to address our concerns about the missing ridge vent -which was included in our contract and price.”

Schedule

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“We never would have signed a roofing contract if we knew it would not begin until November. This is northern New England and we were just lucky that winter held off this year. Your argument was the "bad spring weather"...again, this is New England! That you do roofing year round is fine - but not on our house, thank you. It would have been nice to receive an occasional update about the start date so that we could plan our schedule...no communication...big problem.”
