No, we are not able to recommend Interlock Roofing to friends, neighbors or the general public. We signed our contract on March 31, 2021 which stated our roof would be completed by June 17 at the latest. Due to a series of organizational and communication problems on the part of the project Installation Manager, our roof & skylight installation was not completed until September 7, 2021--almost 3 months past the contract date. As the Installation Management problems became apparent over time, various members of the Interlock team were less willing to cover for him, and even acknowledged or implied that others are aware of his performance issues. Given that history, we don't understand why there was not some kind of internal company management oversight or monitoring that would have protected customers like us from potential harm? Furthermore, there has still never been any "official" acknowledgement or communication that serious mistakes were made, or that the entire project team experienced months of confusion and frustration, or that both customers (us) and the company's reputation were harmed--all of which are true. If the company is serious about their marketing slogan "Professional service and a great experience!" then the company should be using information from our experience to improve internal management, implement project-specific accountability and quality control, and put customer service ahead of corporate self-protection. This 2-roof project (our home and detached garage) was a major purchase and investment for us. We are recently retired and on a fixed income, so we did a lot of research before choosing to purchase a top-quality Interlock metal roof. We had confidence in our Sales team and the company's promise of "Professional service and a great experience!" Sadly we did not receive professional service or have a great experience due mostly to the incompetence of the Installation Manager--whose name we have chosen to withhold throughout this survey, but are willing to share it with Interlock Management if anyone is willing to have an honest conversation about it? Although it is too late to undo what happened to us, we would be willing to provide information in the hope that it might help future customers avoid the frustrations that we experienced. Also, we would have very much appreciated an honest acknowledgement from company management that serious mistakes were made, along with an actual apology for what we went through. Instead, we were offered a low-ball, take-it-or-leave it compensation offer, while the company seemingly "circled the wagons" to avoid liability and protect an incompetent manager. While this unfortunately is not unusual behavior for a large corporation, we were led to believe and therefore expected better from Interlock Roofing. During the breach of contact period (July & August 2021) we did notify the company of our intent to file a complaint with the Construction Contractors Board (Oregon) which allows us 1 year to consider / complete if we decide to move forward with that. Finally, we had hoped the company might follow up with us directly to address some of the larger customer service issues, so we were initially disappointed to receive this 3rd-party customer satisfaction survey. However it is now clear to us that Interlock considers this “case closed” does not intend to address this any further--unless required to by the CCB. So we are completing this survey in good faith and hoping it's not just an empty exercise for the appearance of customer feedback? Thank you for your diligence in following up several times to get our survey, and please accept our apology for our slow response, as it has been emotionally difficult to have to revisit and describe this experience. We are just trying to find closure and move on from it as well. Victor and Cathie, Portland OR, 503-318-2084

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“No, we are not able to recommend Interlock Roofing to friends, neighbors or the general public. We signed our contract on March 31, 2021 which stated our roof would be completed by June 17 at the latest. Employees Professionalism

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“Everyone EXCEPT for Installation Manager seemed professional and courteous in our interactions. However several Interlock staff acknowledged to us privately that the Installation Manager had made errors on our job & had a history of performance problems--but to our knowledge, no one in the company is willing to confront or hold him accountable. We have no reason to believe that he is not continuing to mismanage other customers' projects. This does not seem either "professional" to us.”

Communication

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“Everyone EXCEPT for Installation Manager communicated effectively with us. Even after we had proactively called & emailed the Installation Manager a month previously asking for information and confirming details about our 3 replacement skylights, he entirely failed to order them! Also he repeatedly failed to return our calls & messages, then failed to schedule the completion of our roof in late June. He then promised a crew would arrive on a certain date--which they did not, and he never informed us or checked to see how the project was going? At that point we had to reach out to request an intervention from a Senior Manager (David Thomas) in order to even get our skylights ordered & project completed, which ultimately took almost 2 more months to complete. David Thomas did communicate effectively with us in order to eventually complete our job. But what still bothers us is that we have no reason to believe that the Installation Manager was ever held accountable for the problems he created on our project--and potentially other / future customers' projects as well? (see also comment #4 above about his known history of performance problems.)”

Installation Crew

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“Installation Crew was the best part of our Interlock Roofing experience, they were reliable, courteous, and did excellent quality work. Once we were given the Installation Crew's contact info--and did not have to rely on on the incompetent Installation Manager--we were able to coordinate schedules effectively. In our view, this installation crew deserves better management!”

Professional Completion

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“Yes and No: Our roof project was eventually completed as specified, but only after a lot of self-advocacy work on our own behalf in coordination with a Senior Manager--so we cannot call this "Professional completion" due to all the Installation Management, communication and planning problems described elsewhere in this survey.”

Problem Resolution

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“Yes and No: While our roof project was eventually completed--again, after a lot of extra work on our own behalf contacting & communicating with a Senior Manager--we never received an honest acknowledgement or an actual apology for mistakes that the company made, or adequately compensated for the significant hardships that we experienced: Months of confusion, frustration, having to reschedule our summer family & travel plans, many hours of emailing & self-advocating, etc. The Senior Manager at one point did ask us to provide what we thought would be fair compensation for our troubles, but then the company responded with a "low-ball' take-it-or-leave-it offer of $1,000 dollars compensation. That seemed to us like very low compensation given the gross incompetence of the Installation Manager and the extended breach of contract for project completion.”

Schedule

☆☆☆☆ Strongly disagree
“Absolutely not! Our project was finally completed almost 3 months late, due to the incompetence of the Installation Manager.”
