Other than the pricing, I do not see any other areas that need improvement. I would highly recommend Interlock Roofing.

Review: June 9, 2022 Completion: May 31, 2022

There were no areas they needed to improve on. I couldn't be happier with my roof.

Review: April 6, 2019 Completion: March 29, 2019

The installer who did the job was terrible and when i asked the supervisor to come to site he disregarded my assessment and let the teeruable workmanship continue, this caused many problems and lots of rework and leakes Because the shingles debt so easy you should engineer a system that installs from the peak downward so the installer does not dent every shingle by walking on them

lack of communication from office staff, did not use preferred mode of communication.

★★★★★
Review: December 21, 2017 Completion: November 17, 2017

I got an email correspondence that was a chain of a conversation. There was someone in the office that was quite rude and made us seem like a problem customer with the finances. The timeline and project management didn't go quite as expected. The materials weren't there right away, so there was some disorganization. A really big strength was in resolving problems and sticking with it.

Review: September 13, 2017

It is a great product, just beyond our means and not suitable for our particular project at this time.

★★★★★
Review: January 20, 2015 Completion: November 23, 2014

Communication and timing of installation. The roof looks great! I look forward to getting the final snow guards in the spring.

★★★★★
Review: October 2, 2014 Completion: July 5, 2014

I think they could do better with capping off the ends of the levels. I think they should be wrapping the interlocking completely around so there are no open spaces left at the ends of the roof. I think its a fantastic roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Clearwater

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Clearwater, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Clearwater.

How does a metal roof handle Clearwater's 200 cm of annual snow?

Aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow more readily than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation during Clearwater's typical 100 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed snow loads safely without requiring structural reinforcement—a critical advantage in a climate where thermal cycling stresses traditional materials. Snow guards can be installed if you want to retain snow for insulation value or control runoff.

Why does aluminum outlast asphalt in freeze-thaw climates?

Asphalt becomes brittle and cracks when exposed to about 100 annual freeze-thaw days like Clearwater experiences; aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched, and it expands and contracts uniformly without degradation. Unlike wood or clay tile, which split and cup under thermal stress, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its integrity across extreme temperature swings. This durability is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations.

Can an aluminum roof rust in Clearwater's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. In Clearwater's 416 mm of annual rainfall, an aluminum roof develops a thin, self-sealing oxide layer that protects the base metal indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking, provides an additional barrier in wet climates, ensuring protection far beyond what uncoated aluminum or steel roofing offers.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt every 15 years?

A metal roof eliminates the asphalt tear-off-and-landfill cycle entirely. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt roofing 3–4 times at $10,000–$15,000 per job, plus disposal costs; Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life (non-prorated) and transfers to the next owner for 50 years. Current regional financing offers interest-free payments for 3 months and minimum savings of $2,499 on installation, making the true cost of ownership substantially lower than conventional roofing over the roof's lifespan.

Does hail damage hurt a metal roof, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock's aluminum panels carry the highest hail rating available—UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum does not dent and crease like asphalt, and because the impact rating is verified by independent testing (not manufacturer claims), many insurers recognize metal roofing as a loss-reduction upgrade. Ask your agent about discounts; the combination of fire rating (Class A non-combustible), wind warranty to 120 mph (193 km/h), and hail coverage often qualifies for premium reductions.

Will a metal roof hold up to Clearwater's wind gusts?

Clearwater's typical gusts reach 100 km/h; Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof plane, preventing uplift at panel edges—a common failure point in asphalt shingles. This engineering is verified in the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, which confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind standards.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. The Interlock Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Tile profile just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. In fact, you can install an Interlock metal roof directly over most existing asphalt roofing, avoiding the cost and labor of tearoff. This light weight is especially valuable in Clearwater, where existing wood-frame homes built before modern snow-load codes can now safely support a roof that will never need replacing.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?

Aluminum roofing requires no painting, sealing, or annual inspections like wood shake or tile. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and is warrantied 30 years against chalking and fading (measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244). Clearwater's 416 mm annual rainfall naturally rinses the roof; gutters and downspouts need the same seasonal cleaning as with any roof. No repairs for rot, splitting, or curling—issues that plague asphalt and wood in your freeze-thaw climate.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Clearwater?

Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. has served the Thompson region since 1983, providing direct installation and warranty support from their Delta, BC factory. This local presence ensures that your roof is installed by crews familiar with Clearwater's climate, from heavy snow loads and 100 annual freeze-thaw cycles to wind gusts and high rainfall. Current promotion: interest-free payments for 3 months and minimum savings of $2,499 on installation. Contact the local team for a site inspection and custom quote.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes—approximately 95% of Interlock aluminum panels are recyclable at end of life, and the roof never requires tear-off disposal. Standard asphalt roofing generates landfill waste every 15–20 years; over a 50-year period, you'll divert 3–4 roofing replacements from the waste stream. Interlock's energy-efficient colors, with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, also reduce cooling demand during Clearwater's 3,084 annual sunshine hours, lowering your carbon footprint throughout the roof's life.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Clearwater’s climate?

Yes. Clearwater averages about 200 cm of snow, 416 mm of rain, roughly 100 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
