The delivery of materials via Comox... was odd, spotty, and slow. You have me on record after talking with your office. Your response was very good.

Review: April 7, 2026Completion: March 9, 2026

The communication during the installation and when the wind deficiencies were found in my roof was not handled well. I had to go into my attic myself to verify whether the work they claimed was done had actually been completed — and several times, it wasn’t. They had to come back multiple times, and I had to adjust how I communicated just to make sure we could finally get everything resolved.

Interlock Metal Roofing could improve by providing more status updates. My experience was pretty smooth and straightforward. No one has brought the sign that we are supposed to display, but everything was great.

Review: May 13, 2026Completion: April 23, 2026

Well, it's only been two or three weeks, so we don't know about the quality or if there are going to be any leaks. There are some troubling signs because there is some damage to the flashing in front of the garage, and we are trying to contact Interlock, but we don't seem to get any response from them. That is pretty troubling at this point. Communication would be number one, and also timing and schedule. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but there are still some things that they need to fix. I hope that somebody from the company is going to contact us and schedule that little fix. It's not a big deal, but it has to be done.

Review: March 26, 2026Completion: February 10, 2026

Quality product, good reputation is better and referrals, better than glossy brochure advertising. No follow up with Randal after installation. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback. Overall very satisfied with Interlock. I found at least 6 roofing nails left on the driveway after roof installation. Walked, swept and blew driveway to ensure it was clear.

Review: May 15, 2025Completion: May 1, 2025

My husband and I debated for some time as whether or not to replace our aging roof with a metal roof or go with the standard asphalt shingles. We’re so happy we decided to go with the metal roof as it turned out better than our expectations and doesn’t take away from the contemporary house style. We appreciated that the original meet and greet started with the estimate right up front and then led into the details of the roof color choices., etc. The roofers were hard working and professional and did a great job of cleaning up the yard daily. We highly recommend this company!

Review: November 18, 2024Completion: September 30, 2024

Everyone who sees the roof admires it, so it speaks for itself. Everything was perfect except I forgot to ask them to reinstall a downpipe on the roof. We both overlooked it. I will do so shortly. The roof of my house and double garage looks amazing and draws many compliments.

Review: August 17, 2024Completion: July 23, 2024

Friendly sales crew and installation crew. Thank you Randall and Vlad. Great communication and prompt installation. Project was completed ahead of time. There was a bit of confusion with the billing timeline since the job start and completion dates were so close. Would have been easier to not split up the payment. Vlad and his crew were very friendly and provided some good recommendation on venting and were able to make adjustments during the install. Thanks for a great looking/functional toof

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Metchosin

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Metchosin, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Metchosin.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel, and does that matter on Vancouver Island?

Aluminum doesn't rust because it contains no iron — rust is iron oxide. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, giving it permanent corrosion immunity. On Metchosin's wet coast with about 1111 mm of annual rainfall and salt-air exposure, this matters enormously. Steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust; aluminum needs none. You're looking at decades of protection without the deterioration that would plague iron-based products in your climate.

How does a metal roof handle Metchosin's snow and ice buildup?

Metchosin averages about 41 cm of snow annually over roughly 22 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which stresses roofing through repeated expansion and contraction. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay structurally sound through this cycle — the panels won't split or warp like asphalt shingles do. The smooth surface and light weight (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) shed snow efficiently without accumulating dangerous ice dams. Snow guards are available if you want to manage snowmelt aesthetically.

Can a metal roof stand up to Metchosin's coastal wind and gusts?

Metchosin experiences typical daily winds around 21 km/h with gusts reaching 107 km/h. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification — well above your region's documented gust patterns. The interlocking mechanism distributes uplift forces across the whole panel array rather than relying on fasteners alone. In coastal conditions, that engineering difference keeps your roof secure where lighter-fastened systems can lift or fail.

Does heavy rain leak through a metal roof with all those seams?

Metchosin gets about 1111 mm of rain per year — roughly half falls in the wetter months. Metal roofing leaks only if water finds a gap in the installation itself, not through the panels. Interlock's four-way interlocking design and standing-seam profile options shed water by geometry; water runs off rather than pooling. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code compliance for your climate. Proper installation — which our local team has completed since 1983 — is the guarantee. Asphalt shingles deteriorate over time and trap water; aluminum panels never absorb it.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure before installing a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light — the Mediterranean Tile profile, which visually replicates clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft and is roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. This means the roof loads your existing framing already carries comfortably. In fact, because the panels install at a fraction of slate or tile weight, installation often happens directly over your existing roof without tear-off, saving labor and landfill impact. ESR-1790 covers this application.

What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need in BC?

Almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl, wood shakes that split and rot, or clay tiles that chip, aluminum panels require no seasonal cleaning, no sealing, and no repairs from weather. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading — it holds color through Metchosin's 3130 annual sunshine hours without degradation. Gutters and valleys may collect debris like any roof; that's maintenance on the drainage system, not the roofing itself. The Guardian warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling — none of which happen to aluminum.

Can hail damage my metal roof, and will insurance help?

Metchosin's climate record doesn't indicate frequent hail, but the product is ready if it occurs. Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs outlast the hail damage that would total asphalt or wood. Ask your insurer about premium reductions; the ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation and UL listing support your claim. Over a 40-year roof life, those discounts add up.

What's the real lifespan and warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the warranty transfers once and provides 50 years of coverage to the next owner from the date of completion. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 (26+ years) in Delta, BC, and installed them from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. The product has a track record. In real terms, you're buying the last roof you'll install.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

The upfront cost is higher, but the math changes dramatically over 40 years. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years and end in landfill; you'll buy and install two or three roofs in that same span, plus pay tear-off costs each time. Interlock's aluminum roof lasts a lifetime with zero maintenance, transfers to the next owner with 50 years of warranty, and is ~95% recyclable at end of life — ending the landfill cycle. The current promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and saves at least $2499 on installation. Calculate total cost-of-ownership, not first cost, and aluminum typically wins by tens of thousands of dollars.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs locally in Metchosin, and what's the timeline?

Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. has served this region since 1983 — over 40 years of experience with Vancouver Island's climate and building practices. We handle everything from permit coordination to final inspection. Timeline depends on your roof size and complexity, but because aluminum panels install so efficiently — often over your existing roof without tear-off — projects typically complete faster than traditional roofing. Weather in Metchosin (about 41 cm snow, 1111 mm rain, and 3130 sunshine hours annually) shapes our scheduling. Contact us to discuss your home's specific needs and current promotional pricing.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Metchosin’s climate?

Yes. Metchosin averages about 41 cm of snow, 1111 mm of rain, roughly 22 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 107 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
