What our customers are saying:

★★☆☆☆
Review: August 17, 2022Completion: July 24, 2022

Initially the review would have had 5 stars. As things progressed, it went downhill. The main/senior contractor was berating the junior contractor so badly that I had to intervene and have the senior contractor calm down and stop being like that and coach him how to deal with juniors.. The junior guy was crying and had to comfort him and motivate him to get back on the roof. The Sales man was good at first, but when the installation was done, they expected a cheque for almost 30K when I had said I wanted it financed. I don't know how this was miscommunicated; however, the sale man was hard set telling me I was writing him a cheque instead of financing this 32K deal but had no problem taking the deposit of 8K. Back and forth between him and I via text turned into blows of intelligence, and I was furious. So overall, not the happiest experience beginning to end. Stop with the contractor attitude where the customer is wrong and "we did nothing wrong". Don't tell the customer he is wrong, try to resolve the situation. Don't make fights with customers and then say I'm not talking to you anymore. Employees from whatever front need to be respected. The disrespect that I had to intervene between the two installers was uncalled for. Senior employees are there to train, not treat new staff like dirt.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Winchester

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Winchester, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Winchester.

Will a metal roof handle Winchester's heavy snow load without ice dams?

Yes. Aluminum's smooth surface and lightweight design—the Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft—shed snow efficiently and won't sag under the 140 cm of snow Winchester receives annually. The four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed water and snow melt before it refreezes into dams, and because aluminum won't rot or split under freeze-thaw stress, your roof remains watertight even after Winchester's typical 91 freeze-thaw cycles per year.

How does an aluminum roof survive Winchester's freeze-thaw cycling?

Aluminum has no iron content, so it cannot rust or corrode—the core vulnerability that fails other metal roofs in freeze-thaw climates. The oxide layer that forms naturally on aluminum actually self-heals when scratched, meaning Winchester's approximately 91 annual freeze-thaw cycles won't create weak points or initiate rust. Your roof remains structurally intact and watertight year after year, even as temperatures swing above and below freezing.

Can Winchester's wind gusts damage a metal roof?

No. Interlock Metal Roofing's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Winchester's typical wind gusts reach 95 km/h—well within that envelope—so the panels lock together and stay put even in severe weather. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms the system's structural integrity under wind loading, giving you confident protection through the seasonal gusts your region experiences.

Why does aluminum roofing not rust like steel?

Aluminum contains no iron; iron is what rusts when exposed to moisture and oxygen. Interlock panels are made from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and the moment aluminum is exposed to air, an invisible oxide layer forms and self-heals if scratched. In Winchester's damp 896 mm annual rainfall, this chemistry means your roof will never rust through, stain, or weaken—no matter how many wet winters it endures.

Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?

An aluminum roof costs more upfront but becomes your last roof. The Guardian warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner, and it's transferable for 50 years to the next owner. Over a 50-year horizon, you eliminate the cycle of asphalt tear-off and replacement, avoid the landfill costs of disposal, and sleep soundly knowing freeze-thaw cycles won't compromise your investment—making the total cost of ownership far lower than repeated asphalt replacements. Current financing: enjoy 3 months interest-free and save at least $2499.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles that curl and crack under freeze-thaw stress, or wood shake that splits and rots in high-moisture climates like Winchester, Interlock's aluminum panels shed water by design and won't degrade. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so your roof resists weathering through Winchester's 2,884 annual sunshine hours and 140 cm of snow without requiring protective coatings, repairs, or seasonal attention.

Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and can I save on insurance?

Interlock Metal Roofing carries the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The aluminum's resilience and verified durability often qualify homeowners for insurance discounts. Contact your insurer with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 Class 4 rating; many carriers recognize the roof's superior impact resistance and reduce your premium accordingly.

Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need structural work?

Almost certainly no reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, despite its authentic appearance, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional framing or engineering. Your home's structure already supports conventional asphalt and wood shingles, so aluminum metal roofing is a straightforward retrofit that adds protection without costly structural upgrades.

What does the lifetime warranty actually cover on a metal roof?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—meaning your successors inherit real protection. No deductibles, no proration by age. Combined with Interlock's 30-year coating warranty and the fact that aluminum cannot rust or decay, you're protected against the failure modes that plague asphalt, wood, and steel roofs through Winchester's harsh winters.

What roof styles does Interlock offer, and do they look authentic?

Five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each is manufactured by Interlock in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, so the profiles are proven in extreme climates. They deliver the visual character of traditional roofing materials while offering aluminum's durability—no splitting wood, no cracked tile, no heavy slate requiring reinforcement. Choose the aesthetic that suits your home and Winchester's architectural character; the performance is identical across all styles.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Winchester’s climate?

Yes. Winchester averages about 140 cm of snow, 896 mm of rain, roughly 91 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
