I can't get up on the roof to really test it out, but time will tell. Thank you. There could be a problem in that your company is too successful to meet all the starting dates, but it isn't anything I would complain about in the end.

The yard sign that was put in my yard is a good advertisement for Interlock Roofing because people are stopping to get information from the sign.

Review: December 3, 2023Completion: September 4, 2023

Our likelihood to recommend will depend on how the roof performs over the first couple of years. We are pleased with the appearance of the roof and believe that it was a quality install however won’t really be able to gauge this until time passes and roof is tested by weather. I would encourage anyone considering Interlock Metal Roofing - Halifax to receive concrete contractual timelines around installation before proceeding. I hope that our experience was unusual and not the norm for this company. Communication + safety + timeliness + smoke-free on client premises Despite the negative experiences described above, we are very pleased with the final product and appearance of the roof. Too early to comment on performance over the winter and durability but we are hopeful. We understand that the installer had issues with finding help and/or accommodation which led to an inconsistent schedule and significant delays however do feel this should have been managed more effectively such that customers not impacted. We tried to be patient as we were told that his workmanship was worth it. We do appreciate and acknowledge the $500 completion adjustment that was credited to our final invoice.

Review: September 13, 2023Completion: July 13, 2023

They are very professional, and it was extremely well done. It certainly looks like quality work to me. We've had lots of comments on it. They're professional people who are dedicated to the work they're doing. I'm very satisfied. There are no areas in which Interlock Metal Roofing could have improved. I was more than pleased with it. I had my roof done before, and there's no comparison to how the work played out. I felt confident. The workers arrived and brought the material ahead of time. Once they came on the roof, I had no worries. Sometimes you have to constantly check behind roof workers, but I didn't have to be behind them checking everything. They cleaned everything up, and they made the property safe for us after finishing the day's work. I was totally satisfied. They are great workers, and it's a high-quality product. They made my home look better.

I did not make payment yet but will do so as I am waiting for the invoice or bill. I asked if there was going to be an adjustment because some of the things I was charged for we never used. I called Bob today but I have not heard from him yet. December 7th 2017. Hope to hear from you soon.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Miltonvale Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Miltonvale Park, Prince Edward Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Miltonvale Park.

Will a metal roof handle PEI's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles without ice dams?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt, which traps moisture and creates dams. Miltonvale Park receives about 188 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year, both conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels form a unified roof plane with no seams to trap ice. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding. The material's non-porous nature means no water absorption during the thaw-refreeze cycle—a critical advantage in your climate.

Why choose aluminum roofing over steel when both are metal?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; it's made from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that regenerates when scratched—a huge advantage in salt air or any humid climate. Steel, by contrast, requires constant protective coatings and will rust if those coatings fail. Your roof also receives Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking. This two-layer protection system (aluminum itself plus fluorocarbon finish) is why Interlock panels have been installed in everything from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations.

How does metal roofing hold up to Miltonvale Park's freeze-thaw weather?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw cycles because it doesn't absorb water and won't crack, split, or curl like wood shakes or asphalt do. With about 81 freeze-thaw days per year in your area, material expansion and contraction is real, but aluminum's ductility and the Alunar® PVDF coating resist that stress without degradation. The roof expands and contracts uniformly across interlocked panels, and because aluminum is non-porous, no water infiltrates during freezing phases. Traditional materials trap moisture, which expands when frozen and causes permanent damage. Your metal roof simply sheds water and keeps cycling cleanly.

Does a metal roof perform well in hail, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; check with your provider about premium reductions for impact-rated roofs. PEI's maritime storm patterns can bring sudden hail, and a Class 4-rated roof demonstrates resilience your insurer recognizes. Many insurers view metal roofing as lower-risk than asphalt, which can be breached by impact and then allows water infiltration and mold. Request a quote from Maritime Metal Roofing Ltd. and ask them to help you document the Class 4 rating when submitting to your insurer.

Can a metal roof withstand Atlantic Canada's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and the four-way interlocking panel system is what makes that possible. Miltonvale Park experiences typical daily-max winds around 23 km/h, but gusts reaching 152 km/h are realistic in Atlantic storms. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically locked on all four sides to its neighbors, distributing lateral load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This is why metal roofing outperforms asphalt in wind events—there's no way for panels to lift or separate. Maritime Metal Roofing Ltd. will ensure installation to engineering standards so your warranty applies fully.

With 923 mm of annual rainfall, how does metal roofing prevent leaks?

Metal roofing's solid, sealed panel system is inherently superior to asphalt in heavy rain. Your region averages 923 mm of rainfall yearly, and that constant moisture exposure is exactly where asphalt fails—it becomes saturated, loses granules, and develops leaks at fasteners and seams. Interlock's interlocking panels create a unified, impermeable surface with no exposed fasteners on top; all fastening is hidden in the locked joint between panels. Proper installation over solid decking with approved underlayment—which Maritime Metal Roofing will execute—means water runs off instantly without pooling or penetrating seams. The coating resists UV and weathering that can degrade asphalt, so your roof stays leak-free for decades.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—basically all material failure modes. It's also transferable once: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from roof completion. In practice, Interlock aluminum roofs installed since 1998 in Delta, BC are still performing; the 30-year coating warranty (Alunar® PVDF, ASTM D4214/D2244 tested) protects color and gloss, but the aluminum itself is permanent. You're buying your last roof. Freeze-thaw cycles and Miltonvale Park's 81 annual cycles won't degrade aluminum the way they degrade asphalt or wood.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No. Interlock roofing is extraordinarily light—the Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle at similar weights, and the Mediterranean Tile profile at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, which is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof can install directly over most existing asphalt without tearing it off first. A typical asphalt roof weighs 2–3 lb/sq ft; Interlock's lightness makes renovation faster, cheaper, and safer for your home's framing. If you're replacing an older, heavier roof, the reduced load is actually a structural benefit—less stress on rafters and walls over time.

Is metal roofing more sustainable than asphalt or tile?

Aluminum roofing ends the wasteful cycle of asphalt tear-off and landfill disposal. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable, meaning at the end of their life (which won't happen for 50+ years in Miltonvale Park), the material has real scrap value and returns to the aluminum supply chain. Traditional asphalt is shredded and landfilled; concrete and clay tile breaks during removal and isn't recycled. Your metal roof eliminates annual tear-off waste, reduces embodied carbon by using a durable, long-life material instead of replacing asphalt every 15–20 years, and supports a circular economy. Plus, energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance (like Aged Copper Penny) reduce heat absorption, lowering summer cooling demand—a small but measurable environmental win in your climate with about 2750 sunshine hours per year.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt every 15–20 years?

Yes, when you calculate total cost of ownership. Asphalt costs less initially but needs replacement roughly every 15–20 years; metal roofing's 50-year lifespan means you avoid 2–3 replacement cycles. Over 50 years, factoring in removal, disposal, labor, and inflation, metal roofing saves money and eliminates the disruption of re-roofing. Right now, Maritime Metal Roofing Ltd. is offering interest-free payments for 3 months and savings of at least $2499 on installation—a significant reduction on your out-of-pocket cost. The Guardian Warranty means zero repair costs for material failures; asphalt requires ongoing repairs as it ages. Your monthly financing cost over 3 years is less than the lifecycle cost of two asphalt replacements.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Miltonvale Park’s climate?

Yes. Miltonvale Park averages about 188 cm of snow, 923 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 152 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
