> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. Review: April 21, 2006 Completion: February 13, 2006

Dear Friends at Interlock, When we were asked to write a letter of approval for our new Interlock roof, we weren't ready to write one. We weren't sure that our homes leaky roof history was cured - at least we weren't sure then. Even though the Interlock roof looked beautiful, we were still hesitant. We spoke with Jerry, your sales rep, before our purchase and we discussed our concerns with him. He thoroughly explained how the Interlock roofing is manufactured, that it is maintenance-free and explained Interlocks "lifetime guarantee". We felt after considering all the facts we were ready to invest in this exceptional product. The installers were outstanding. They were on-time, consistently at work, and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves every day. They even returned after the work was completed, a few weeks later, to readjust our gutters. We now can say how very pleased we are with our new Interlock roof. Its distinctive appearance and beauty adds value to our home. Many people stop by to look and have remarked on the clean, classy look. On our brother's recent visit he commented on the beauty of our roof and said 'wow, it looks great. Only the best, right?' Yes, he is right, only the best.

Review: June 2, 2006 Completion: July 25, 2005

Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Middlefield

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Middlefield, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Middlefield.

Will a metal roof hold up through Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so freeze-thaw cycling causes no material degradation. Middlefield experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days per year with roughly 71 cm of snow, creating conditions where traditional asphalt becomes brittle and wood splits. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered to flex and contract without cracking or curling. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty covers both sides of every panel, protecting against the salt-laden winter air that corrodes steel. Your last metal roof won't fail because the material froze.

How does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams in New Haven County?

Metal roofing's smooth surface and tight four-way interlocking panels prevent ice dams and allow snow to shed safely. Middlefield's annual 71 cm of snow and typical wind gusts up to 135 km/h mean weight matters—Interlock's Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than traditional slate or tile, so no structural reinforcement is required. The panels interlock so tightly that meltwater has no path into seams. You can add snow guards if you prefer controlled release. Light weight plus engineered locking equals zero ice-dam callbacks.

Can metal roofing withstand Connecticut's wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec, which far exceeds Middlefield's typical gust peaks of 135 km/h. The four-way interlocking design distributes lateral forces across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This engineering is verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, which governs installation across IBC/IRC codes. Your roof won't lift, shift, or lose panels in the storms that hit Connecticut's coast and inland valleys.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust chemically. Instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a property that makes it ideal for Middlefield's maritime-influenced climate with freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal salt exposure. Steel roofing requires constant vigilance because iron oxide is rust, and once the protective coating fails, corrosion accelerates. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Your metal roof cannot develop the rust stains, perforation, or leaks that plague steel.

Does metal roofing perform well in hail, and will it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This performance has prompted several insurers to offer discounts on homes with metal roofing because claims are rare. Middlefield's climate does include occasional severe weather; aluminum's hardness and the panel's rigid profile absorb impact without denting or cracking. Asphalt shingles can fail at much smaller hail sizes. Contact your insurer about a metal roof discount—many regional carriers recognize the durability and offer 5–15% reductions.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over time?

Yes. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in Connecticut's climate; you'll replace them 2–3 times over a 50-year period, accumulating material, labor, and disposal costs each cycle. Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—no surprise failures. When you sell, the warranty transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding concrete resale appeal. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over a lifetime, you stop paying for roofs.

What does Interlock's warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no deductible, no prorating by age—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, extending 50 years from completion for the next owner. That two-generation coverage reflects confidence in the product: roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) with a 30-year Alunar coating warranty and a 120 mph wind warranty make failure rare. You're buying the last roof you'll install; your next owner inherits that protection.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Minimal. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection for curling, granule loss, and moss after Middlefield's ~1249 mm annual rainfall; wood shakes need annual treatment for rot and insects; clay tile needs grout repointing every 10–15 years. Interlock aluminum roofing requires only occasional debris removal—leaves in valleys, maybe twice yearly given Connecticut's rainfall pattern. The Alunar coating sheds dirt naturally; no power washing or resealing. The design is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. You'll spend more time cleaning gutters than maintaining the roof itself.

Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84 (measured per ASTM standards). On sunny days—Middlefield gets about 3111 annual sunshine hours—this reflectance reduces roof surface temperature and lowers cooling load, particularly on south and west exposures. Cool Roof Rating Council ratings quantify these savings for energy modeling. Asphalt shingles absorb heat, warming your attic and forcing air conditioning to work harder. A reflective metal roof costs nothing extra to operate and lowers summer electric bills month after month.
