Review: June 2, 2006 Completion: July 25, 2005

Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.

Review: April 21, 2006 Completion: February 13, 2006

Dear Friends at Interlock, When we were asked to write a letter of approval for our new Interlock roof, we weren't ready to write one. We weren't sure that our homes leaky roof history was cured - at least we weren't sure then. Even though the Interlock roof looked beautiful, we were still hesitant. We spoke with Jerry, your sales rep, before our purchase and we discussed our concerns with him. He thoroughly explained how the Interlock roofing is manufactured, that it is maintenance-free and explained Interlocks "lifetime guarantee". We felt after considering all the facts we were ready to invest in this exceptional product. The installers were outstanding. They were on-time, consistently at work, and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves every day. They even returned after the work was completed, a few weeks later, to readjust our gutters. We now can say how very pleased we are with our new Interlock roof. Its distinctive appearance and beauty adds value to our home. Many people stop by to look and have remarked on the clean, classy look. On our brother's recent visit he commented on the beauty of our roof and said 'wow, it looks great. Only the best, right?' Yes, he is right, only the best.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wolcott

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wolcott, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wolcott.

Will a metal roof hold up to Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no moisture absorption and won't crack, split, or warp as asphalt and wood do. Wolcott experiences about 72 freeze-thaw days per year, which stresses traditional materials by allowing water penetration and expansion. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is designed for exactly this climate: its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the four-way interlocking panels shed water before it can pool. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty protects against the salt spray and moisture cycling that degrades lesser metals, so your roof stays sound through decades of Connecticut's temperature swings.

How does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Connecticut?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow reliably because its smooth, interlocked panels resist ice-dam formation and allow meltwater to drain cleanly—critical in a region that averages about 65 cm of snow annually. The real advantage is weight: the Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than traditional tile or slate, so no structural reinforcement is required even on older Wolcott homes. This light weight also means snow doesn't accumulate dangerously; it slides off naturally. If you prefer snow retention for aesthetics or safety, Interlock-compatible snow guards install easily. The interlocking design resists the stress that loose snow loading creates on seamed panels, keeping your roof tight.

With 1,200+ mm of rain a year here, will metal roofing leak?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panel design is engineered specifically to shed water faster than it falls, even during heavy downpours. Wolcott receives about 1,232 mm of rain annually—well above the U.S. average—and the overlapping panel geometry creates a self-draining matrix that channels water away before it can seep into seams. Beneath the panels, a solid deck and quality underlayment (installed to spec) provide a secondary moisture barrier, just like a traditional roof. The aluminum itself is non-porous and cannot absorb water, so even if moisture reaches the substrate, it won't degrade the metal. Thousands of Interlock installations along the coastal Pacific Northwest—where rainfall and salt spray are relentless—have zero documented leak failures when installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over a 50-year timeline, metal roofing is typically 30-50% cheaper than replacing asphalt shingles three times. Asphalt lasts 15-20 years in New England's climate; Interlock lasts a lifetime with a fully transferable warranty, meaning you buy your last roof once. Current financing runs zero interest and no payments until Spring 2027, or you can take 10% off the installation cost. Factor in energy savings: energy-efficient colors with 0.84 emissivity and up to 0.55 solar reflectance reduce cooling loads during Wolcott's 3,134 annual sunshine hours. No gutter cleaning from asphalt granule runoff, no early moss growth from moisture retention. One homeowner investment covers two generations.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a climate like Wolcott's?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum's naturally occurring oxide layer is impermeable and self-heals when scratched, making it ideal for Wolcott's humid Connecticut climate with 72 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), the same material trusted in salt-air coastal installations from British Columbia to Antarctica. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel, provides a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts within years in freeze-thaw environments unless constantly maintained. Once you install Interlock, you're free from rust concerns for life.

What happens if a hailstorm hits my metal roof?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail rating available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, offsetting the roof's cost over time. Many Connecticut insurers recognize that metal roofs survive hail events that destroy asphalt, wood, and slate, reducing claim frequency and severity. Interlock's four-way interlocking design distributes impact force across panels, so a localized strike doesn't compromise the whole roof. If a hailstone does perforate a panel (rare at Class 4), the warranty covers replacement. Your insurance agent can confirm local discount availability, but metal roofing's Class 4 rating and proven track record make it the hail-resistant choice for homeowners in storm-prone New England.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock metal roofing requires minimal maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. With about 3,134 sunshine hours annually in Wolcott, UV exposure is moderate, yet asphalt shingles degrade noticeably within 10-15 years. Metal needs only occasional debris clearing and visual inspection—no gutter cleaning from asphalt granules, no moss treatment, no wood sealing or tile re-grouting. The Alunar coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years, so repainting is unnecessary. Snow and rain, your region's primary weathering forces (65 cm snow, 1,232 mm rain yearly), actually clean a metal roof. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, Interlock eliminates the seasonal upkeep cycle that consumes time and money with traditional materials. One annual walk-around inspection is sufficient for peace of mind.

Can metal roofing withstand Connecticut's winter and summer wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Wolcott's typical gusts reach about 126 km/h (78 mph), well within the rating, and winter nor'easters occasionally push higher. The interlocking design is the key: each panel's edges lock to its neighbors in four directions, creating a unified system that resists uplift and lateral stress far better than nailed shingles or standing-seam panels with fasteners only at the top. If a severe gust occurs, the locked panels distribute forces across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This engineering is why Interlock installations have been verified on Antarctic research stations and Pacific Northwest coastal properties exposed to sustained high winds. Your roof stays secure through Connecticut's windiest seasons.

How long does installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Most residential Interlock installations complete in 1-3 days, depending on roof size and pitch. Unlike asphalt tear-offs (which generate landfill waste and cost extra labor), Interlock typically installs directly over your existing roof because the panels weigh only about 0.41-0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than slate, concrete, or clay tile. This lightweight advantage means no expensive structural reinforcement, even on older Wolcott homes. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., has served the region since 1999 and knows New England's weather patterns intimately. Installation follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification, ensuring warranty compliance and code approval. Your roofer will schedule around your schedule; most homeowners stay in their homes during the work with minimal disruption.

Is metal roofing fire-safe? Does it help with insurance?

Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and carries a Class A fire classification (the highest rating), meeting or exceeding all IBC/IRC codes per ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790. Aluminum cannot ignite because it's already oxidized and contains no flammable components. This fire safety often results in homeowner insurance discounts, similar to hail-impact savings, because insurers recognize reduced risk. Wood-shake roofing and asphalt shingles are combustible and vulnerable to ember strikes during wildfires; Interlock eliminates that risk entirely. In Wolcott's suburban and mixed-use neighborhoods, fire-resistant roofing can be the deciding factor in underwriting. Ask your insurance agent about local discount eligibility; many companies offer 5-15% premium reductions for Class A-rated metal roofs, which can offset a portion of your installation investment over the warranty period.
