From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Grove

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Grove, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Grove.

How does metal roofing handle Grove's snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth surface and steep profiles don't trap moisture the way asphalt does. Grove averages about 95 cm of snow annually with roughly 80 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cycle asphalt shingles into premature failure as trapped melt refreezes under the shingles. Aluminum's non-porous surface and low thermal mass mean water runs off cleanly rather than pooling at valleys. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to manage runoff direction, but the physics work in your favor here.

Will freeze-thaw cycling in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?

No—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw environments because it has no water absorption and expands uniformly without cracking or curling. Grove's 80 annual freeze-thaw days are rough on asphalt and wood shakes, which absorb moisture and fail when it expands and contracts. Interlock panels are manufactured to ASTM B209 roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, which has been proven in Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air climates where conditions are far more severe than Minnesota's. The panels move together as one interlocked system, so differential expansion is engineered out entirely.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and weakens steel. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, preventing rust from spreading. This matters in Grove because the region receives about 637 mm of annual rainfall plus 95 cm of snow melt, creating constant moisture exposure. Steel roofing fails in this cycle; aluminum's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking) adds another protective layer, making corrosion physically impossible. You're buying a roof that won't degrade from weather alone.

Are metal roofs safe in high winds and storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Grove experiences typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h with gusts recorded to 108 km/h, well within that tolerance. The interlocking design creates a continuous rigid structure across your entire roof deck—there's no lifting or separation like you get with shingle overlap. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, so wind pressure doesn't peel them up. The system also carries a UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating, so severe storm conditions that would damage asphalt or wood are handled routinely.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot, and the Mediterranean Tile—which looks like traditional clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot. That's roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Most existing roofs can support the installation without modification because aluminum weighs so little that it actually reduces structural load compared to aged asphalt. This also means faster installation and lower labor costs. The engineering is straightforward: you're adding almost nothing to your home's weight, so no costly structural work enters the picture.

Will a metal roof lower my homeowners insurance in Minnesota?

Many insurers offer discounts because Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your agent with this specification; some carriers provide premium reductions for Class 4 rated roofs because repair and replacement claims are statistically lower. Grove's climate includes severe weather risk, so demonstrating impact resistance to your insurer can justify a rate reduction. The non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire rating available) may also qualify you for additional discounts depending on your policy structure. It's worth asking before you commit.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how long does it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner with 50 years of coverage from completion date, which adds real resale value. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998—over 25 years of field history—installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Grove's climate of about 637 mm rain, 95 cm snow, and 80 freeze-thaw cycles annually is exactly the kind of cycle these materials were designed to handle. This is the last roof you'll buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?

Minimal. Unlike asphalt shingles that need regular inspection for tears and curling, wood shakes that rot and split, or tile that cracks, Interlock aluminum doesn't degrade from weather cycling. Grove's 637 mm annual rainfall and 80 freeze-thaw days would demand constant attention on traditional materials. You rinse debris occasionally and inspect flashing after severe storms—that's it. No resealing, no replacement of individual sections, no moss treatment. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) resists the chalking and fading that make asphalt gray and compromised. Aluminum's non-porous surface means water never pools to invite rot or ice dam damage. Low maintenance translates directly into lower long-term cost.

Can metal roofing actually reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect the heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your living space. Grove receives about 3,152 hours of sunshine annually—enough for this reflectance to compound real savings over months and years. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the performance independently. On a 25-year roof life, the energy efficiency difference versus standard asphalt becomes substantial, especially if you use air conditioning during Minnesota's warmer months. The lighter color options work harder than dark asphalt to keep your home cooler without running your AC overtime.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Interlock typically installs over most existing roofs without tear-off because the panels weigh so little—even the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb per square foot adds negligible load. This eliminates the cost and landfill impact of removing old shingles, and your home stays weathered during installation. Timeline depends on roof size and profile complexity, but the interlocking design means faster fastening and fewer seams than standing seam systems. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, schedules based on Grove's weather windows—avoiding heavy snow seasons ensures optimal crew efficiency and material handling. Ask about their specific timeline during your estimate; most residential projects complete within one to two weeks.
