It has to do with pricing, I felt like it was a bit expensive. The lack of communication with the project manager. The 2 installers did a phenomenal job!

They warned of additional costs for any areas that didn't pertain to the actual project, I didn't appreciate that aspect.

I am considering taking out a full-page add to warn people. They could've kept me informed of the delays. I am very disappointed and disgusted with the product and customer service that I have seen. They made this winter a living hell and have ruined my porch. They will not respond. I can't believe they won't respond. I think the Interlock parent company should consider separating themselves from midwest Interlock to keep themselves maintained.

Review: January 28, 2016Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Not sure yet. I am getting frustrated. Follow through more effectively. Do what you promised and not let your customer hanging. I hope I can say I will recommend Interlock to anyone but until my issues were resolved, I am afraid Interlock's service is well below my satisfaction.

Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oxboro

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oxboro, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oxboro.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice efficiently because aluminum's smooth surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt does. Oxboro receives about 95 cm of snow annually, and the lightweight design—the Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft—eliminates the snow-load structural concerns you'd face with concrete tile. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding. The tight interlocking seams prevent ice melt from backing under the roof, cutting ice dam formation.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof in Oxboro winters?

No. Oxboro experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw days per year, but aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched or stressed—it doesn't crack, split, or absorb moisture like asphalt or wood shakes. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against degradation per ASTM standards) bonds to both sides of the panel, protecting against the expansion and contraction stresses that shorten asphalt roof life. You're looking at genuine durability through decades of Minnesota winters.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. The moment aluminum is exposed to air, a protective oxide layer forms naturally and repairs itself when scratched. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, adding extra corrosion defense in any climate. With about 796 mm of rain annually in Oxboro plus seasonal moisture, rust-free aluminum means no leaks from material failure and no maintenance surprises decades down the road.

Is metal roofing really cheaper than asphalt over time in Minnesota?

Yes, when you calculate the full roof cycle. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Oxboro's freeze-thaw environment (79 cycles annually); you'll tear off, haul to landfill, and reroof twice before an Interlock metal roof reaches mid-life. Metal costs more upfront but requires no tear-off (install over your existing roof), no re-roofing labor in 25+ years, and carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner. Over 50 years, metal is genuinely the last roof you buy.

Can an Interlock metal roof handle Minnesota wind gusts?

Yes—it's warranted to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Oxboro's typical gusts reach 94 km/h. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind load across the entire assembly rather than relying on fastener strength alone. UL testing (UL 2218 Class 4 impact rated) confirms the design's resilience. Properly installed to spec, your roof stays secure through spring storms and occasional strong wind events.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs reduce claim frequency. Oxboro's 3128 sunshine hours annually mean hail is less common than in the High Plains, but when storms do occur, aluminum's non-denting, non-cracking surface outperforms asphalt or wood. Some insurers reward that difference on your premium.

Is aluminum light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?

Yes. The Interlock Slate is roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Mediterranean Tile (about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile) is 0.59 lb/sq ft—negligible compared to asphalt's 2–3 lb/sq ft. Your existing structure carries the load easily. This means you avoid the cost and disruption of structural reinforcement, skip the tear-off and disposal fees, and install faster. In Oxboro's climate with 95 cm annual snowfall, that light weight is an advantage: less structural stress during snow events means fewer long-term concerns.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long does the roof last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. That term reflects the real durability Interlock has delivered since 1998, across climates from coastal salt air to Antarctic research stations. Most homeowners never outlive their metal roof; you're investing in a structure that lasts multiple ownership cycles.

Can a metal roof really reduce cooling costs in Minnesota summers?

Yes, especially in energy-efficient colors. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance (Aged Copper Penny) and 0.84 thermal emissivity, meaning they reflect the solar energy that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic heat. Oxboro's 3128 sunshine hours annually maximize that benefit. While Minnesota heating costs dominate, the cooling advantage in June through August still adds up—and you're not heating your attic needlessly. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms the science behind the savings.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my current asphalt roof?

Yes, installation happens directly over your existing roof—no tear-off needed. Most residential installs finish in 2–4 days depending on roof size and complexity. Removing the tear-off step eliminates waste, cost, and labor time. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and handles the entire process from measurement through installation to warranty registration. Because aluminum panels are lightweight and four-way interlocking seals are straightforward, the job stays on schedule even in Oxboro's variable weather (typically 796 mm rain and about 120 cm snow annually).

Is a metal roof a good choice for Oxboro’s climate?

Yes. Oxboro averages about 95 cm of snow, 796 mm of rain, roughly 79 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 94 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
