From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in St. Croix Falls

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in St. Croix Falls, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in St. Croix Falls.

How does a metal roof handle the heavy snow St. Croix Falls gets each winter?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from bonding the way asphalt does, and the four-way interlocking panels lock panels together so snow load distributes evenly across the roof structure. St. Croix Falls averages about 97 cm of snow per year with roughly 80 freeze-thaw cycles annually, which makes material durability critical; aluminum's oxide layer self-heals from thermal stress and won't crack or curl like asphalt shingles do. Snow guards can be installed if you prefer slower shedding. The lightweight profile—Shingle at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your existing structure supports the snow load with no reinforcement needed, unlike slate or clay tile.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?

No; aluminum's molecular structure is naturally resistant to freeze-thaw damage because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or absorbing water the way wood, asphalt, and concrete do. St. Croix Falls experiences about 80 freeze-thaw days per year and nearly 800 mm of annual rainfall, conditions that would accelerate deterioration in traditional roofing materials. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading even under these cycling stresses. Aluminum contains no iron, so rust is physically impossible—only the protective oxide layer oxidizes, and it self-heals when scratched, adding decades of durability beyond what asphalt or steel can offer.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; corrosion is chemically impossible. What happens instead is a microscopic oxide layer forms on the surface—this is natural, invisible, and actually protective. If scratched or abraded, the oxide layer self-heals automatically when exposed to air. With St. Croix Falls receiving about 797 mm of rain annually and typical gusts reaching 103 km/h, moisture and wind are constant, but the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides of every panel (front and back) adds an extra 30-year warranted barrier against any coating degradation. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance because iron oxidizes into rust. Aluminum remains maintenance-free in wet climates.

Are Interlock metal panels strong enough for Minnesota wind and storm gusts?

Yes; Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and the four-way mechanical interlock means each panel is anchored to its neighbors so wind pressure distributes across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. St. Croix Falls averages daily-max winds around 19 km/h but experiences gusts approaching 103 km/h, so the 120 mph warranty provides substantial safety margin. This design also means no wind-driven rain penetrates between panels the way it can with traditional shingles. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for current building codes) confirms installation methods for your region, and many homeowners see insurance discounts because the panel design itself resists uplift better than asphalt.

Does metal roofing hold up better in hail than asphalt shingles?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, which means you're protected against damage that would total an asphalt, wood, or slate roof. Class 4 rating is tested to withstand repeated impacts equivalent to severe hail, so your roof sustains impacts that would crack or dent traditional materials. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions qualify for insurance premium reductions because aluminum's non-combustibility and impact resistance lower claim frequency; contact your insurer to ask whether Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 rating qualifies you for a discount. In St. Croix Falls' variable spring weather, this protection is genuine peace of mind.

Can an energy-efficiency metal roof lower cooling costs in Minnesota summers?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does, reducing heat transmission into your attic and lowering air-conditioning load on hot days. Interlock's rated colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), which means less energy needed to cool living spaces. St. Croix Falls receives about 3073 sunshine hours annually, so cumulative heat reflection across a full season adds up. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms these reflectance values under real-world weathering. While Minnesota winters are cold, reduced summer cooling demand over a 30-plus-year roof life offsets energy use, and the lightweight aluminum installation means no structural upgrades that would further increase cooling loads—unlike heavy slate or tile that require reinforcement and increase thermal mass.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need in Minnesota?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance; the Alunar 70% PVDF finish and aluminum's non-corrosive nature mean no painting, staining, or sealing cycles that asphalt, wood shake, or slate demand. You don't remove moss, algae, or debris buildup because the hard, slick surface and steep pitch shed water and organic matter naturally—critical in St. Croix Falls where about 797 mm of annual rain and 80 freeze-thaw cycles would otherwise trap moisture and accelerate decay in porous materials. No fastener replacement, no roof coatings, no structural inspections for rot. Gutters and downspouts still need seasonal clearing, but the roof itself remains inert. The CALGreen building standard verifies Interlock for reduced maintenance, and your only real task is ensuring snow guards and gutters function properly during the 97 cm average snowfall season.

Can I install metal roofing over my existing asphalt roof without reinforcing the structure?

Yes; Interlock is extraordinarily lightweight, making structural reinforcement unnecessary in virtually all cases. The Slate and Shingle profiles install at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than actual tile. This means you avoid the $5,000–$15,000 structural reinforcement that real slate, concrete, or clay tile typically requires. Most homes can accept Interlock directly over existing asphalt without tearing off the old roof, saving labor and landfill waste while reducing project cost and timeline. Your framing and foundation experience no additional stress, which is especially valuable if your St. Croix Falls home was built when roof-load assumptions were lower. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation methods that ensure code compliance and structural safety.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over the long term?

Yes; Interlock is typically 2–3 times asphalt's initial cost but lasts 40–60+ years versus 15–25 for asphalt, meaning you install it once and never reroof again. Across 50 years, asphalt requires 2–3 complete tear-offs and landfill disposal, while Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) and 50-year transferable coverage eliminate those labor and material cycles. Factor in maintenance costs (Interlock needs almost none), energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectance over decades in St. Croix Falls' 3073 annual sunshine hours, and potential insurance discounts from UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating and non-combustibility, and the total cost per year over 50 years drops well below asphalt's recurring expense cycle. Resale value also tends to increase because buyers recognize that Interlock is the last roof they'll install.

What makes Interlock's lifetime warranty different from other metal roof warranties?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning there's no gradual reduction in coverage over time—and it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty is one-time transferable, extending 50-year coverage to the next owner, which increases your home's appeal to buyers since they inherit half a century of protection. Interlock has been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, giving real long-term performance data across diverse climates from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. In St. Croix Falls, where about 80 freeze-thaw cycles per year and 97 cm of snow challenge roofing materials, this non-prorated coverage means you're protected against the exact stresses that degrade traditional roofs—and that protection passes to future owners, building long-term home value.
