What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Turtle Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Turtle Lake, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Turtle Lake.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice in Turtle Lake winters?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from bonding and creating ice dams. Turtle Lake averages about 106 cm of snow annually across roughly 72 freeze-thaw cycles per year—the exact conditions where ice dams form and cause leaks under traditional shingles. Interlock's interlocking aluminum panels create a unified surface that either sheds snow or allows it to slide cleanly away. You can add snow guards to any profile if you prefer controlled snow release on walkways or vehicles below.
Will an aluminum metal roof survive Turtle Lake's freeze-thaw cycling?
Yes, because aluminum doesn't expand and contract the way asphalt or wood does during freeze-thaw swings. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is designed to flex without degradation through repeated temperature changes. With about 72 freeze-thaw days per year in Turtle Lake and winter temperatures dropping well below freezing, asphalt becomes brittle and cracks while wood shakes curl and split. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals microscopically when scratched, so seasonal movement never compromises the material itself—it simply flexes and recovers.
Can aluminum metal roofing rust or corrode like steel roofs?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a microscopic oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched. This is why Interlock panels are installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—adds a second defense layer. In Turtle Lake's climate with 540 mm of annual rainfall, this dual-protection system ensures your roof stays protected through decades of moisture exposure.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can install Interlock panels directly over an existing asphalt roof without any structural work, which saves thousands in labor and materials. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable in Turtle Lake, where about 106 cm of annual snow means your roof already carries seasonal weight; aluminum distributes its own negligible load evenly across your existing framing.
What is the hail rating for Interlock metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels hold a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers even perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating is rare and demonstrates exceptional durability. Many homeowners report insurance premium reductions after installing Class 4 metal roofing because underwriters recognize the lower replacement risk. Gust winds in Turtle Lake reach about 88 km/h, and while direct hail is less frequent here than in some regions, the Class 4 certification provides peace of mind and potential cost savings on your policy regardless of location.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
Yes, especially with energy-efficient colors. Interlock's reflective coatings have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 in colors like Aged Copper Penny. These Cool Roof Rating Council values mean the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Turtle Lake receives about 3078 sunshine hours per year, so even on warm days and during the transition seasons, reflective coatings reduce the heat load your air conditioning must handle. Over a 40+ year roof life, the energy savings compound significantly compared to dark asphalt.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. Asphalt degrades from UV and temperature swings, wood splits and curls during freeze-thaw cycles like Turtle Lake's 72 annual cycles, and tile cracks or requires repointing. Interlock's aluminum and Alunar coating are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. You won't need to replace damaged shingles, power-wash algae growth, or apply sealants. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection—similar to any roof—is sufficient. The coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, so your roof maintains its appearance with virtually no intervention.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it actually last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—essentially everything that fails on asphalt or wood roofs in climates like Turtle Lake. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding real estate value. Aluminum doesn't rot or rust, so the warranty's real protection is against impact damage and manufacturing defects. Installations since 1998 in widely varying climates show 25+ years of real-world performance. On a roof you'll keep for 40 years, this is your last roof.
Is metal roofing more sustainable than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Every few decades, asphalt shingles—which cannot be recycled—are ripped off and buried. Metal roofs last 40+ years and then become raw material for cars, aircraft, or new roofs. Turtle Lake's 540 mm annual rainfall means moisture constantly degrades asphalt, shortening its life and increasing waste. Manufacturing Interlock panels in Delta, BC since 1998 has established efficient processes with minimal scrap. Choosing aluminum eliminates multiple tear-offs and landfill contributions over your home's lifetime.
Is a metal roof fire-safe in Minnesota?
Absolutely. Interlock metal roofing is non-combustible aluminum and holds a Class A fire classification, the highest rating available. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance with the International Building Code and International Residential Code. Aluminum cannot catch fire or contribute to flame spread, which is particularly valuable in Turtle Lake where dense vegetation and seasonal dry periods create wildfire risk. Unlike wood shake roofs, which are combustible, or asphalt roofs, which soften and fail in extreme heat, aluminum provides genuine fire safety. This often qualifies you for insurance discounts beyond impact ratings.
