Review: June 11, 2021 Completion: June 4, 2021

The installation crew mostly did a good job. They were careless during stripping as they damaged two lights, a vent pipe and some siding, which is still damaged. They were suppose to install two nails on each shingle which I paid extra for, but I had to remind them several times but am sure they did not, as I look in my attic and see there are areas where only one was installed. The estimate of my roof area was not accurate (10 squares more than my roof area. I told Michael Baldassari his estimate was off from the start) and Paul would not return my calls to speak to me about the errors - terrible customer service. I had to caulk areas that I found should have been done after the job was completed. The drip edge is not tight against my fascia in many areas. Many shingles are scratched. Where sidewall siding was removed, some was damaged, and fortunately I had some to replace it. I had to re-install some of the siding myself as it wasn't happening correctly is several instances. Interlock management refused to speak with me, for this reason alone I cannot recommend Interlock roofing to a friend. Estimate, work plan, and customer satisfaction not acceptable. Again, the installation crew mostly did a good job. Better communication. More careful stripping. Adhere to extra fasteners when paid for. More careful with siding (what would have happened if I didn't have siding to replace damaged.) Better job caulking. Better attention to details. Again, better communication or any communication at all, even after requesting it. I am a mechanical engineer and have built several houses myself including concrete form work, placing concrete, framing, roofing, siding, wiring, plumbing, insulation, sheet rock, finish trim, custom cabinets, flooring, etc. I know how to build things. I see everything when it comes to things not done correctly. I think that the installation was mostly done correctly but there are several areas that could have been done better. I see them, but probably most people would not see them. Should have consistent translator/job oversight person. I was led to believe the installation was to be done by Interlock, not a contractor. When shingles are started on the left side, the long pieces cut off (half and three quarters) should be used to end the rows and not be thrown away. Too much waste of materials.

The customer service was horrible. Our salesman misrepresented many things. He was late in contacting us with changes made to the contract, in terms of the work being done, to the tune of thousands of dollars, and then he wanted us to pay for that. I just can't recommend them. The salesman could improve upon his customer service and his communication. That would be it. I'm glad that it's over.

Review: October 31, 2016 Completion: September 29, 2016

Clean up all of the little shards and pieces of aluminum shingles that were trimmed. We are detecting a slight decrease in the strength of our cell phone signal. We had asked Ed about this and he said that the roof would not interfere with our reception, but it appears to have affected it. We were lead to believe that we could use our credit card for the entire price of the job. However when we spoke with Deana and read our contract we discovered that it had an asterisk and very fine print about the fact that use of the card was limited to the deposit.

Review: April 22, 2004 Completion: May 3, 2006

We are very pleased with our new Interlock Roof! We live in a house that was built in 1886, and the new roof looks just like slate. This was the perfect choice for our home, and we look forward to enjoying it for many years to come. We are very impressed with the quality of the materials and the workmanship of the roofing crew assigned to our home. The crew was outstanding, and we were very impressed with their punctuality and their roofing skills. The job site was kept neat and picked up throughout the process. Now that a week has passed, we still haven't found any nails or scraps in the grass around the base of the house. Please express our thanks again to the roofing crew for a job well done! We would highly recommend them and your company to anyone interested in a new roof. Feel free to give us out as a reference in the future.

Our Interlock Metal roof is all we had hoped it would be! Folks often stop by and ask about it. We direct them to the company with complete assurance that they will be as happy as we are. My photo doesn't capture the bright blue color. When locals give directions that include our home, it is referred to as the "happy house." Every season looks even more beautiful surrounding our home. The men who worked on it could not have been nicer, more thorough, or more patient with us! Service: Roof installation

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Grafton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Grafton, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Grafton.

How does a metal roof handle Grafton's 166 cm of annual snowfall?

Metal roofs shed snow effectively because the smooth, hard surface and thermal properties prevent ice dams that trap moisture on asphalt shingles. Grafton averages about 120 cm of snow per year with around 93 freeze-thaw cycles, which accelerates asphalt deterioration—the constant melting and refreezing breaks down the binder. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are sealed tight, and the lightweight design means no sagging under load. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding off a particular edge.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling damage asphalt but not Interlock aluminum?

Asphalt absorbs moisture, and when water freezes inside it, expansion cracks the material—this repeats roughly 93 times each year in Grafton County. Aluminum is non-porous and doesn't absorb water, so freeze-thaw has no effect on the metal itself. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is bonded to both sides of every panel and stays flexible through temperature swings, maintaining its seal for 30 years. After 93 annual cycles over a decade, asphalt becomes brittle; aluminum stays the same.

Can aluminum roofing rust like steel, or is it immune?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, chemically impossible in pure aluminum. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that seals the surface. Even if scratched, this layer reforms within hours. The Alunar coating on both sides provides an additional 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, so corrosion from salt, acid rain, or industrial air isn't a concern. Grafton gets about 847 mm of rain annually; that rain protects rather than damages the metal.

Are Interlock panels secure in Grafton's wind gusts?

Grafton County experiences typical gusts around 116 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking system is engineered to hold fast. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per spec—that's above the peak gusts your area sees. The mechanical interlock prevents panels from separating or peeling during uplift, and each panel is fastened to the deck below. High-wind testing to UL standards confirms the system's integrity. Over 25 years of installations from coastal British Columbia to Antarctica, wind damage is rare.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and can I get insurance breaks?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this and offer discounts because claims are extremely rare. Grafton's climate brings rain and snow, not frequent hail, but when severe weather does occur, the non-combustible aluminum and impact-rated profile protect the underlying structure. Class A fire rating is also available, which some carriers reward. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 spec to explore savings.

Is my roof structure strong enough for metal roofing?

Interlock's aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Slate installs at 0.41 lb per square foot, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can support it without reinforcement because the load is negligible compared to traditional tile. This is especially valuable in Grafton, where heavy wet snow (166 cm annually) can stress a roof. If you're replacing asphalt, the new metal weighs even less, so your framing actually works easier. Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, saving tear-off costs and time.

Will a metal roof save on cooling costs in summer?

Metal roofs with energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it like asphalt does. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council-rated finishes have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, which means less heat enters the attic and less air conditioning load. Grafton gets about 2,958 sunshine hours per year—enough that reflectance matters. On 87-degree days (rare but possible), that reflection cuts cooling energy. The real win in Grafton is winter: the metal doesn't degrade from the 93 annual freeze-thaw cycles, so it keeps performing efficiently for decades.

How long does installation take, and do I have to tear off my old roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days for a standard residential roof. Because Interlock panels are so light (0.41–0.59 lb per square foot), they install over most existing asphalt or wood-shake roofs with new underlayment and flashing—no tear-off needed. Grafton winters are long, so working over an existing roof means you avoid weather delays and preserve the temporary protection. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999, so crews understand local conditions and snow-season scheduling. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and loops back into new products indefinitely, whereas asphalt shingles are tear-off waste heading to landfills. Grafton's 166 cm of snow and freeze-thaw cycling mean asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years before replacement; a single home over 60 years might generate 10,000+ pounds of landfill debris. Interlock's lifespan breaks that cycle. The lightweight design also reduces installation labor and transportation emissions. CALGreen verification confirms the low-maintenance profile cuts ongoing environmental impact. Choosing metal is one of the highest-impact sustainability decisions a homeowner can make.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Interlock offers five authentic profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates traditional materials with dimensional texture and shadow lines visible from street level. The Slate profile suits classic New England homes, Cedar Shingle complements farmhouses, and Mediterranean Tile delivers Old World charm without 96% of the weight of real tile. Standing Seam offers clean, modern lines. All profiles come in multiple colors and carry the same durability—aluminum body, Alunar 70% PVDF coating, UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, and lifetime warranty. Choose the look you want; the performance is identical.
