Review: June 11, 2021 Completion: June 4, 2021

The installation crew mostly did a good job. They were careless during stripping as they damaged two lights, a vent pipe and some siding, which is still damaged. They were suppose to install two nails on each shingle which I paid extra for, but I had to remind them several times but am sure they did not, as I look in my attic and see there are areas where only one was installed. The estimate of my roof area was not accurate (10 squares more than my roof area. I told Michael Baldassari his estimate was off from the start) and Paul would not return my calls to speak to me about the errors - terrible customer service. I had to caulk areas that I found should have been done after the job was completed. The drip edge is not tight against my fascia in many areas. Many shingles are scratched. Where sidewall siding was removed, some was damaged, and fortunately I had some to replace it. I had to re-install some of the siding myself as it wasn't happening correctly is several instances. Interlock management refused to speak with me, for this reason alone I cannot recommend Interlock roofing to a friend. Estimate, work plan, and customer satisfaction not acceptable. Again, the installation crew mostly did a good job. Better communication. More careful stripping. Adhere to extra fasteners when paid for. More careful with siding (what would have happened if I didn't have siding to replace damaged.) Better job caulking. Better attention to details. Again, better communication or any communication at all, even after requesting it. I am a mechanical engineer and have built several houses myself including concrete form work, placing concrete, framing, roofing, siding, wiring, plumbing, insulation, sheet rock, finish trim, custom cabinets, flooring, etc. I know how to build things. I see everything when it comes to things not done correctly. I think that the installation was mostly done correctly but there are several areas that could have been done better. I see them, but probably most people would not see them. Should have consistent translator/job oversight person. I was led to believe the installation was to be done by Interlock, not a contractor. When shingles are started on the left side, the long pieces cut off (half and three quarters) should be used to end the rows and not be thrown away. Too much waste of materials.

Review: February 16, 2021 Completion: October 20, 2020

The customer service was horrible. Our salesman misrepresented many things. He was late in contacting us with changes made to the contract, in terms of the work being done, to the tune of thousands of dollars, and then he wanted us to pay for that. I just can't recommend them. The salesman could improve upon his customer service and his communication. That would be it. I'm glad that it's over.

Our Interlock Metal roof is all we had hoped it would be! Folks often stop by and ask about it. We direct them to the company with complete assurance that they will be as happy as we are. My photo doesn't capture the bright blue color. When locals give directions that include our home, it is referred to as the "happy house." Every season looks even more beautiful surrounding our home. The men who worked on it could not have been nicer, more thorough, or more patient with us! Service: Roof installation

Review: October 31, 2016 Completion: September 29, 2016

Clean up all of the little shards and pieces of aluminum shingles that were trimmed. We are detecting a slight decrease in the strength of our cell phone signal. We had asked Ed about this and he said that the roof would not interfere with our reception, but it appears to have affected it. We were lead to believe that we could use our credit card for the entire price of the job. However when we spoke with Deana and read our contract we discovered that it had an asterisk and very fine print about the fact that use of the card was limited to the deposit.

Review: April 22, 2004 Completion: May 3, 2006

We are very pleased with our new Interlock Roof! We live in a house that was built in 1886, and the new roof looks just like slate. This was the perfect choice for our home, and we look forward to enjoying it for many years to come. We are very impressed with the quality of the materials and the workmanship of the roofing crew assigned to our home. The crew was outstanding, and we were very impressed with their punctuality and their roofing skills. The job site was kept neat and picked up throughout the process. Now that a week has passed, we still haven't found any nails or scraps in the grass around the base of the house. Please express our thanks again to the roofing crew for a job well done! We would highly recommend them and your company to anyone interested in a new roof. Feel free to give us out as a reference in the future.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Orange

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Orange, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Orange.

How does a metal roof handle Orange's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dam formation—critical in Grafton County, where you receive about 166 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified surface that sheds meltwater before it refreezes at the eave. Aluminum's lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminates the structural weight concerns that come with wet snow accumulation on heavier roofing, reducing ice-related stress on your home's framing during freeze-thaw cycles.

Will a metal roof crack or fail during freeze-thaw cycling?

No. Aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24 / 3003-H24) expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling—the failure modes common to asphalt, wood shake, and concrete tile. Orange experiences approximately 93 freeze-thaw days per year, making material durability critical. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides prevents moisture penetration that causes freeze-thaw degradation in porous materials. Over the roof's 50+ year lifespan, this means no cumulative damage from the seasonal temperature swings typical of the Upper Valley region.

Can a metal roof rust in New England's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element required for rust formation. Instead, it develops a self-healing oxide layer that continuously regenerates when scratched or exposed. This distinction matters in Orange's 847 mm annual rainfall: ferrous metals (including steel roofing) undergo electrochemical corrosion that accelerates in wet climates, while aluminum remains inert. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel, adds a 30-year warranty against corrosion while the underlying aluminum stays protected indefinitely. You'll never replace this roof due to rust.

Are four-way interlocking metal panels strong enough for Grafton County wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist sustained winds of 120 mph and remains secure during Orange's typical wind gusts reaching 116 km/h (72 mph), with design margins that exceed the region's recorded extremes. The interlocking geometry distributes wind load across adjacent panels rather than concentrating stress on fasteners alone, similar to how shingles nest together but far more mechanically rigid. Four-way interlock means each panel locks on top, bottom, left, and right—no uplift path. Even in the worst-case gusts recorded regionally, your roof stays intact.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and is warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners receive insurance premium reductions because Class 4 impact resistance means fewer claims than asphalt, which easily splits and loses granules under hail. The Guardian warranty covers impact damage explicitly, providing direct coverage beyond what your homeowner's policy may require. Contact your agent about discount eligibility; the combination of Class 4 certification and non-combustible aluminum often qualifies for favorable rates in New England.

Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the visual weight of traditional clay or concrete tile, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than actual tile. Even the heavier Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Over an entire 2,000 sq ft roof, that's roughly equivalent to a light snow dusting. Most homes can install Interlock metal roofing directly over existing asphalt without framing upgrades, making replacement straightforward and cost-effective compared to slate or concrete tile, which demand expensive structural work.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with 0.84 emissivity and up to 0.55 solar reflectance (Aged Copper Penny) reflect rather than absorb the sun's heat, lowering cooling demand during Orange's roughly 2,958 annual sunshine hours. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms this performance: reflective metal roofs cool your attic compared to dark asphalt, which absorbs heat and drives air-conditioning load. While Orange's mean temperature of 8.1°C keeps cooling loads moderate relative to southern regions, every degree of attic temperature reduction decreases summer energy use and extends HVAC lifespan.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really require?

Virtually none. Metal roofs have no asphalt granules to shed, no wood shakes to split and require treatment, and no tile grout to deteriorate. Rain runoff self-cleans the Alunar 70% PVDF coating during Orange's 847 mm annual precipitation. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) and CALGreen verification specifically cite reduced maintenance as a key advantage. Your only periodic task is clearing debris from gutters and valleys—the same as any roof. No sealing, no recoating, no preventive repairs. That simplicity over a 50-year lifespan translates directly to your time and money savings versus asphalt or composite roofs.

Is a metal roof really the last roof I'll install?

Yes, financially and practically. The Guardian warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner, transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a coverage window that extends far beyond asphalt (15–20 years) or wood shake (25–40 years). Over 50 years, you eliminate the tear-off, landfill, and reinstallation cycle typical of asphalt. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) is currently offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. That financing option combined with a single replacement horizon makes metal roofing the lowest total cost of ownership for most Orange homeowners.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Orange, and how long have they served the area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves Orange and all of Grafton County, with 25+ years of regional installation experience since 1999. The company understands Upper Valley conditions—heavy snow, freeze-thaw stress, wind gusts, and moisture—and installs roofing engineered for those specifics. Their expertise with ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance and The Guardian warranty terms ensures your roof meets all current building code requirements. Local service means faster response, familiarity with local permitting, and installers who know how to secure panels against the region's actual weather.
