| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should. The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time. After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.
We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.
Ivan and I have had many visits over the last 10 years we have had our Interlock roof. He is a rare find. Both knowledgeable and conscientious. My interactions with Ivan and call taker May have been top notch as is Interlock's warranty.
Ivan with Interlock Metal Roofing is awesome. Always personable and willing to find and fix the problems. Roofs are going to have leaks and with Interlock I just call when I have an issue and Ivan fixes it. THANK YOU!
Ivan has worked on our roof multiple times. He is always responsive, communicative, efficient, and effective. We can recommend him and Interlock Roofing
Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.
It was time to replace the old mossy asphalt shingles. Standing seam metal in dark Hunter Green was the way to go. Love it! Demo and install team were friendly really excellent at their jobs.
I’ve had an interlock metal roof on my home for 20 years. We have always been happy with the roof. People are always surprised to find out the roof is metal.
Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Concordia
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Concordia, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Concordia.
How does a metal roof handle Concordia's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow efficiently and resist the damage that freeze-thaw does to asphalt. Concordia averages about 48 cm of snow annually with roughly 36 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Aluminum's strength stays constant in cold; it won't split or curl. The smooth panel surface lets snow slide off before ice dams form. Four-way interlocking keeps water out at every seam, so meltwater that creeps under shingles has nowhere to go on a metal roof.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing does?
Aluminum contains no iron—it simply cannot rust. Steel roofs eventually corrode and fail; aluminum doesn't. When aluminum's oxide layer gets scratched, it self-heals automatically. In Concordia's wet climate (1468 mm rain yearly), this matters enormously. Both sides of every Interlock panel get Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. That two-sided protection is especially crucial in salt-air regions. After 25+ years, you'll inspect your roof and find bare metal that looks the day it went on.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal tile roof?
No structural reinforcement needed. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs without engineering work or extra framing. A concrete tile roof requires your house to be built to handle that load from day one. With aluminum, you avoid costly structural upgrades. The weight savings also means easier, faster installation: your contractor can often complete the job in days instead of weeks, minimizing disruption.
Will a metal roof hold up in Concordia's windstorms?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec. Concordia's typical gusts reach about 116 km/h (72 mph), with occasional stronger events—well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking system means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, so wind can't lift or separate them. That mechanical grip is far stronger than nails through shingles. In 27 years of installation across the Pacific Northwest, Interlock roofs have survived gale-force winds without incident.
Does heavy rain leak through a metal roof?
Heavy rainfall (1468 mm per year in Concordia) demands perfect water management. Metal roofs excel here because water runs off immediately instead of soaking in. The four-way interlocking design creates overlapped seams that shed water like roof valleys—water drains away before it can pool or penetrate. Panels are installed over a solid deck and underlayment, just like asphalt roofs, so every layer blocks water. In contrast, asphalt shingles absorb water, swell, and eventually crack. After a decade of Concordia rain, an asphalt roof begins leaking; a metal roof stays dry.
Can a metal roof actually lower my cooling costs?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it. The Aged Copper Penny color achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning it bounces sunlight back to the sky instead of heating your attic. Concordia gets about 2957 sunshine hours yearly; that reflection adds up over months and years. An asphalt roof absorbs that same sun and heats your home, forcing air conditioning to work harder. A metal roof stays cooler, reducing cooling load. In summer months, that translates to lower utility bills and less strain on mechanical systems.
What happens to a metal roof in a hailstorm?
Interlock metal roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the roof survived 2-inch steel ball impacts without cracking or leaking. Hail that dents asphalt shingles and cracks clay tile simply bounces off aluminum without harm. Many insurance companies recognize this and offer discounts on roofs with Class 4 ratings because claims are rare. In Concordia, where hail is less frequent than in the interior, you're doubly protected: the rating ensures survivability, and fewer storms mean less risk.
What makes the Guardian Warranty different from typical roofing warranties?
The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance from day one through your ownership, with no dollar caps that decline over time. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner gets 50 years of coverage from completion. Traditional asphalt warranties are prorated (value drops every year) and don't transfer. Because aluminum never rusts and the PVDF coating is warranted 30 years, the roof rarely triggers claims—but if something does fail, you're covered completely. In Concordia's 36 freeze-thaw days per year, that peace of mind pays dividends.
Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes. Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end of life, and Interlock panels have been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, so the supply chain is established. Asphalt shingles tear off, get trucked to landfill, and stay there. In Concordia's rainy climate, where roofs fail faster than in dry regions, you may replace an asphalt roof twice in 50 years—that's two roofing loads in the landfill. A metal roof lasts 50+ years and then goes to a recycler. Over a century, that's one metal roof recycled versus multiple asphalt disposals. Interlock's light weight also means fewer truck trips during installation, lowering the carbon footprint of the job itself.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Virtually none. Asphalt roofs need shingles replaced, gutters cleaned constantly (especially in rainy climates), and moss or algae scrubbed off. Metal roofs are self-cleaning: rain runs off, debris doesn't accumulate, and moss won't grow on smooth, sloped aluminum. Because Concordia receives about 1468 mm of rain yearly, gutters on asphalt roofs clog frequently and need service. A metal roof drains so quickly that gutter maintenance drops dramatically. You inspect it once every few years for damage, but repairs are rare. The 30-year PVDF coating doesn't chalk or fade, so no recoating needed. Over 50 years, maintenance costs are a fraction of an asphalt roof's.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Concordia’s climate?
Yes. Concordia averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
