There were no areas, they actually moved up the date, which was a plus. We were very happy with our roof. We are a little sad to see that roof on our old house because we now live in a new house that also needs a roof. When we go to replace this one, we will defiantly call them and use them again.

I installed a new metal interlock roof on my home in Anacortes. A big part of the cost was removing the existing concrete tiles from my roof which are a challenge. From the beginning working with sales, Paul and Ross was a pleasure...very responsive and professional. The installion crew and project managers, Tony and Patrick were terrific to work with. There were a few complications due to the existing roof but the Interlock team worked with me to resolve those issues. The crew were punctual and the installation proceeded on schedule. The cleanup was immaculate. My main goal was NOT to see any further leaking in my lifetime and hopefully that will be achieved. The roof looks great. If you are in the market for a metal roof, I would certainly recommend Interlock.

They gave us a beautiful roof, for which we get many compliments. The project manager should be fired. I had to rent an outdoor bathroom for them. I wasn't going to let 10 people in my house to use the bathroom during covid.

I already discussed the issues I had on the first day. I think the cleanup process could have been improved. It was clear that the crew worked very long hours without taking any noticable breaks. They also didn't leave the property for any restroom breaks.

Review: March 23, 2017Completion: February 2, 2017

My husband and I would like to thank you for coming to our residence and explaining your product and all of its advantages. We were very impressed at this time and excited to start the beautification process of our home, which has been in my husband’s family for 5 generations now. It has undergone many remodels, upgrades, and changes throughout the years with a lot of help from friends and family. We will be celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The new roof is definitely a wonderful way to do so! The whole Interlock family was friendly and extremely easy to work with from the beginning of this process to the end. The job was started on time and finished when promised. We are very pleased with how smoothly the project went and very thankful that we were not the ones on top of the house!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Avon

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Avon, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Avon.

Will a metal roof handle Avon's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?

Yes—aluminum expands and contracts without cracking, and it won't warp or split the way wood or asphalt can. Avon experiences about 47 freeze-thaw days per year, where temperature swings stress roofing materials repeatedly. Aluminum's non-corrosive 3105-H24 alloy is inherently stable through those cycles. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) stays flexible in your region's cold snaps, and the four-way interlocking panels accommodate micro-movement without opening seams or letting water in.

Do I need to worry about snow buildup or ice dams with a metal roof in Avon?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because of their smooth surface and superior thermal conductivity, but ice-dam risk depends on attic insulation and ventilation, not the roof material itself. Avon receives about 43 cm of snow annually and 1312 mm of rain, so winter precipitation management matters. Interlock's five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—all perform equally well in shedding. Optional snow guards are available if you live downslope from a walkway. The real advantage: when snow does melt, it drains cleanly rather than sitting and refreezing like it does on asphalt.

With Avon's heavy rainfall, how does a metal roof prevent leaks?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered so water sheds away from seams rather than toward them—each panel locks into its neighbors on all sides, and the overlap design directs rainfall downslope. Avon averages 1312 mm of rain yearly, and a properly installed Interlock roof (solid deck plus underlayment, installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 spec) performs like asphalt in the wet: water never pools or backs up under the panels. The aluminum itself cannot rot, and the Alunar coating protects the bond between aluminum and fasteners. That's why Interlock installs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations—water management is built in.

Can a metal roof stand up to Avon's wind gusts without failing?

Avon's typical wind gusts reach about 100 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—a 30% safety margin above your worst-case gusts. The interlocking design means each panel braces its neighbors, so the system resists uplift as one unified assembly rather than individual fasteners bearing the load. When installed to spec, there's no flutter, no blow-off risk, and no warranty exclusion for regional wind patterns. That engineering is verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, which governs metal roof installations across the Pacific Northwest.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance break?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Avon's hail risk is lower than inland valleys, spring and early summer can bring surprises. More importantly, many insurers recognize that aluminum roofs rarely require claim payouts for impact damage the way asphalt does; some offer modest rate reductions or extended discounts. Your insurer may also appreciate that a metal roof eliminates asphalt deterioration claims over time. Request a quote from your agent mentioning UL 2218 Class 4 and the non-prorated lifetime limited warranty—both are strong selling points.

Why is aluminum better than steel for a roof in a wet climate like Avon?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and breaks down. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched. Avon's maritime moisture and occasional coastal influence pose no threat to roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a second line of defense, giving you a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading even in wet climates. Steel roofing rusts; Interlock aluminum does not—that's a structural advantage over the roof's entire lifespan.

Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing asphalt shingles without reinforcing the structure?

Yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it adds negligible load. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) weighs a fraction of what slate or clay would impose. Most Avon homes can accept an Interlock roof directly over their existing asphalt without structural upgrades, which saves thousands in framing work. The Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft is lighter still. You're replacing asphalt (typically 1–2 lb/sq ft) with a thinner, stronger material, so your house's joists and rafters actually experience less stress over time.

Is a metal roof worth the cost over the life of the roof?

Metal roofing costs more upfront but eliminates the asphalt tear-off-and-replace cycle that costs homeowners $5,000–$15,000 every 15–20 years. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then one-time transferable with a 50-year protection term for the next owner. That single roof outlasts 3–4 asphalt cycles, eliminating disposal costs and installation labor fees each time. Add in minimal maintenance (no algae treatment, no shingle replacement), potential insurance discounts, and energy savings from energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance, and the math favors aluminum. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off—makes the entry cost even easier.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles, which are torn off every 15–20 years and sent to landfills where they persist for decades. Over Avon's rainy climate (1312 mm annually), asphalt degrades faster, triggering more frequent replacements and more landfill trips. Aluminum doesn't break down; a single Interlock roof installation eliminates that cycle entirely. The Guardian Warranty's 50-year transfer term means your next owner may never need a roof replacement either. Manufacturing also favors aluminum: it's energy-efficient to produce, doesn't require petroleum-based tar, and its lightweight profile reduces transportation emissions compared to slate or tile.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Avon, Washington?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Skagit County region since 1997—longer than the company's current financing program. Local installers understand Avon's rainfall patterns (1312 mm annually), freeze-thaw cycles (about 47 days per year), and wind gusts (up to 100 km/h), so they size gutters, orient panels, and detail flashing specifically for your climate. They're familiar with Skagit County building codes and can help you navigate permitting. Because they've installed hundreds of roofs regionally, they can speak to performance in your exact neighborhood and connect you with local references. Call for a free inspection and estimate—and ask about the current promotion: no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Avon’s climate?

Yes. Avon averages about 43 cm of snow, 1312 mm of rain, roughly 47 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
