Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Hamilton, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hamilton
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hamilton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hamilton.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in a climate like Hamilton's?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents buildup and adhesion—critical in Skagit County where you average about 192 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified surface that resists ice damming, and you can add snow guards to control release patterns. Unlike asphalt, which softens in freeze-thaw cycles (Hamilton sees about 52 of those per year), aluminum maintains its structural integrity; the panels won't cup, curl, or degrade as thermal stress cycles through the material.
Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?
No—aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw cycling because it expands and contracts uniformly without permanent deformation or material fatigue. Hamilton experiences roughly 52 freeze-thaw days annually, which would cause asphalt to crack and wood to split, but roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) simply cycles and recovers. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating remains bonded across temperature swings, and the four-way interlocking system accommodates thermal movement without compromising the seal—a real advantage over rigid materials in this climate.
Can an aluminum roof rust in a wet, rainy area?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—it's physically impossible. With 1,744 mm of annual rainfall in Hamilton, the key difference is that aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched; it simply doesn't corrode like steel would. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) adds a second shield, making aluminum roofing virtually immune to the damp, maritime climate typical of Skagit County. That's why Interlock panels install from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.
Are metal roofs safe in Hamilton's windstorms?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and Hamilton's typical gusts reach about 120 km/h. The interlocking system locks each panel mechanically to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design has held through documented high-wind events across the Pacific Northwest. You get structural stability without the noise or flutter that can develop with loose fastener systems.
What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and does it help with insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts or premium breaks, especially in regions prone to hail. While Hamilton's climate doesn't report extreme hail, the Class 4 certification means you're protected against severe impacts from any source, and your insurer recognizes that durability. It's one reason metal roofs tend to lower your overall risk profile on a homeowner's policy.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so they install directly over most existing roofs without additional framing or support. A typical asphalt shingle roof weighs about 3–4 lb/sq ft; Interlock Slate comes in at around 0.41 lb/sq ft. This lightweight design means no costly structural upgrades, faster installation, and the ability to replace an old roof without tearing off the deck entirely—saving time, money, and landfill waste.
How does a metal roof handle the heavy rainfall around Hamilton?
The four-way interlocking system and solid deck underneath make metal roofs exceptionally leak-resistant in high-rainfall climates like Hamilton's (about 1,744 mm annually). Each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors, and water runs off the hard aluminum surface into the gutter system; there's no absorption, no rot, and no gradual breakdown from moisture intrusion. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms installation compliance for rainy regions. Paired with proper flashing and a solid substrate, an Interlock roof is essentially impervious to the sustained precipitation Skagit County receives.
What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner, giving them 50 years from completion. That combination means you're buying the last roof you'll ever install on your home, and you can transfer that security to a future buyer, adding real resale value. The 30-year coating warranty (Alunar 70% PVDF, ASTM D4214/D2244 measured) ensures your finish stays vibrant through decades of Hamilton's moisture and UV exposure.
Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt when you factor in the long term?
Over the roof's lifetime, metal wins decisively. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and cost $3,000–$8,000 to replace; you'll need 2–3 replacements in a 50-year period, plus tear-off and disposal fees. A metal roof costs more upfront but lasts indefinitely under the Guardian Warranty, requires minimal maintenance (no algae in rain, no rotting in the freeze-thaw cycles Hamilton sees 52 times per year), and transfers 50 years of coverage to the next owner. Right now, Interlock Metal Roofing is running a promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—making the financial case even stronger.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Hamilton and the surrounding area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Hamilton and Skagit County with on-the-ground experience since 1997. They're familiar with the local climate—the 1,744 mm of annual rainfall, the about 120 cm of snow, and the freeze-thaw cycles—and they know the installation details that matter in this wet, maritime environment.
