| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Be sure that everything is coordinated so the project starts on time. They need to have enough material and a dump truck so they don't get halfway through and then have to wait. The project manager needs to make sure his voicemail isn't full, return phone calls and emails, and explain why he's not doing that. These are the areas that could have been improved on for my project. It was a very expensive roof, and I was disappointed in how it played out. For example, it didn't start on time, and Abad worked on weekends by himself. The project manager was not on top of it. I expected more for a $40,000 roof. The quality of the workmanship is great, and hopefully it'll last a long time. I'm not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to roofing, but everything from the ground looks fine.
Interlock Roofing was friendly, helpful and super fast at installing our gorgeous new roof! Can't believe it's no louder in the rain than our old roof!
The other companies we spoke with came out and talked to us, then sent us a bid. They didn't put pressure on us, which is an important thing, especially because replacing a roof can be very costly. The other companies also went up on our roof to give an estimate, which Interlock did not do.
We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this ">roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lynnwood
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lynnwood, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lynnwood.
How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Lynnwood winters?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface provides no grip for accumulation. Lynnwood averages about 37 cm of snow annually with roughly 31 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that cause ice dams under asphalt shingles. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels resist buckling under snow load, and the coating maintains flexibility down to well below freezing. You can add snow guards if you prefer slower release for safety; the system's durability means they'll stay secure through decades of seasonal stress.
Will a metal roof leak with Lynnwood's heavy rainfall?
No. Lynnwood receives roughly 1148 mm of rain annually, and metal roofing's four-way interlocking panel design is engineered specifically to channel water downward without pooling or seeping into joints. When installed over solid decking with underlayment to code (ESR-1790 compliance), the system performs as a unified barrier. The panels themselves have no seams that water can penetrate—each locks into its neighbor. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, deteriorate under repeated wet cycles and lose their sealant integrity, which is why metal becomes the more reliable choice in climates like this.
Why won't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and does that matter in the Pacific Northwest?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to form chemically. Instead, aluminum develops a paper-thin, self-healing oxide layer that seals itself when scratched or abraded. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) adds another protective barrier applied to both sides of the panel. In a region like Lynnwood where humidity, salt spray from coastal systems, and constant moisture cycles are common concerns, this non-corrosive core material means your roof won't develop the orange streaking, holes, or structural degradation that steel roofing eventually faces.
How does a metal roof stand up to Lynnwood's wind and storm gusts?
Lynnwood experiences typical daily winds around 17 km/h with gusts reaching 112 km/h—the four-way interlocking panels are engineered and warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Each panel locks to all four neighbors, creating a unified structure that distributes force across the entire roof rather than allowing individual shingles to lift or peel. This mechanical interlocking means fasteners stay in place and panels don't flutter or gap during rough weather. The system's proven track record in coastal salt-air environments confirms that this locking method works reliably through decades of seasonal wind stress.
Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?
Yes, in most cases. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—while the Cedar Shingle version is even lighter at around 0.41 lb/sq ft. This extraordinary weight difference means you can install over existing asphalt without engineering new roof trusses or reinforcing beams. Traditional tile roofing requires expensive structural upgrades; aluminum doesn't. A structural engineer can confirm your specific home's capacity in minutes, but the majority of Lynnwood homes can accept this roofing as a direct replacement, saving thousands in framing costs and installation complexity.
Can a metal roof reduce heating and cooling costs?
energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on cooler tones like Aged Copper Penny. While Lynnwood averages about 2898 sunshine hours yearly—not a desert climate—reflective coatings still reduce attic temperatures and lower cooling loads during warmer months. The aluminum itself conducts heat differently than asphalt, which absorbs and radiates it back into living space. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings from reflectivity compound, and energy-efficiency verification means utility companies and some jurisdictions recognize the efficiency gain for tax credits or rebates.
How does a metal roof perform in hail, and can it lower insurance premiums?
Interlock Metal Roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Lynnwood's climate doesn't typically feature severe hail, the durability and non-dent rating of aluminum panels is recognized by insurers as superior to asphalt. Many homeowners report premium reductions or discounts when switching to rated metal roofing. The Class 4 impact rating isn't just about hail; it also protects against branch strike, foot traffic damage, and impact from debris—risks that compound over Lynnwood's 31 annual freeze-thaw cycles when ice and branches accumulate.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more initially, but it's the last roof you buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15-20 years and ends in a landfill tear-off; Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, then 50 years transferable to the next owner) and proven 25+ year track record mean you'll never reroof again. Over a 50-year homeownership span in Lynnwood, you'd replace asphalt 2-3 times, paying for labor and disposal repeatedly. Metal's single installation, zero maintenance compared to asphalt's moss-cleaning and seasonal repairs, plus energy savings and insurance discounts, close the gap. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027—removes the upfront barrier many homeowners face.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?
Virtually none. Asphalt shingles accumulate moss and algae in Lynnwood's wet climate, requiring annual pressure washing or chemical treatment to prevent deterioration. Wood shakes split and cup, demanding replacement and regular staining. Tile cracks when freeze-thaw cycles expand and contract the substrate. Metal panels shed debris, rainwater drains freely, and the aluminum's non-porous surface prevents moss growth and organic decay. The Alunar coating resists fading (30-year warranty, ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), so cleaning is optional, not mandatory for performance. With roughly 1148 mm of annual rainfall, that water does the work for you—no ladder work, no chemical costs, no preventive repairs to extend the roof's life.
