Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Ravensdale, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Ravensdale
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Ravensdale, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Ravensdale.
How does a metal roof handle Ravensdale's heavy snow load and ice dams?
Aluminum's smooth, low-friction surface naturally sheds snow and ice before dams form, unlike asphalt shingles that trap moisture. Ravensdale averages about 194 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 58 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt but leave aluminum unaffected. The four-way interlocking panels lock together to prevent water infiltration even under heavy snow melt, and optional snow guards are available if you want to control snow release. The material's thermal properties mean less heat loss through the roof, further reducing ice buildup.
Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum roof in a climate like Ravensdale's?
Aluminum is immune to freeze-thaw damage because it contains no iron and cannot rust or rot. In your region's approximately 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles, asphalt and wood shingles crack and split from repeated expansion and contraction, while aluminum flexes with temperature swings (from about -5°C winter lows to summer highs) without structural harm. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists salt-air corrosion and weathering through these cycles, backed by a 30-year coating warranty. Your roof stays watertight and intact for decades while competitors fail.
With 1761 mm of annual rainfall, how well does metal roofing protect against leaks?
Ravensdale receives about 1761 mm of rain annually, and the four-way interlocking panel design prevents water from entering at seams—each panel locks into its neighbors on all four edges, creating a continuous barrier. The profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) all channel water downward and outward, away from fasteners. Unlike asphalt shingles, which deteriorate under constant moisture and develop leaks within 15–20 years, aluminum's non-porous surface and self-healing oxide layer mean no water absorption. Proper installation over solid deck with underlayment delivers asphalt-level leak protection with a lifetime warranty.
Does a metal roof stay secure in Ravensdale's wind and storm gusts?
Yes. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Ravensdale's typical gusts reach about 128 km/h—well within that margin. Each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors, creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This interlocking design plus the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) ensures code compliance for your region. Even in PNW windstorms, the panels stay seated and sealed.
Can a metal roof withstand hail, and will my insurance company notice?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the material resists damage that would destroy asphalt or wood shingles. Stone, wind, and impact damage are significant claim drivers in Washington; a non-combustible, impact-resistant metal roof reduces your insurer's risk. Contact your agent with the UL listing number (33876) to confirm your discount eligibility.
What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer if I sell?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation over time. If you sell, the warranty transfers to the next owner for a full 50 years from completion, adding significant resale appeal. In a climate with 194 cm of annual snow, 1761 mm of rain, and 58 freeze-thaw days, this warranty protects you from the material failures (rot, rust, cracking) that plague asphalt and wood within 15–20 years. This is your last roof.
Why can't aluminum rust, and does that matter for Ravensdale?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—only the surface forms a thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. If that layer is scratched, it self-heals automatically. For Ravensdale, this is critical: your region's 1761 mm of annual rainfall and occasional salt-air influence (typical for Puget Sound proximity) would corrode steel roofing and accelerate decay in wood or asphalt. Aluminum's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of each panel, adding a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. You get corrosion immunity plus marine-grade coating protection.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires minimal maintenance: occasional debris removal and perhaps an inspection every few years. Asphalt shingles deteriorate continuously in Ravensdale's 1761 mm annual rainfall and 194 cm of snow, requiring spot repairs, moss treatment, and eventual replacement within 15–20 years. Wood shakes split and rot from moisture and the region's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles, demanding expensive repairs. Interlock's CALGreen-verified design reduces maintenance obligations and keeps your roof sound through decades of wet, freezing weather. No granule loss, no curling, no moss substrate—just durability.
Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?
Yes. The Interlock Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—while the Shingle is just 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most existing roof structures can support this load without reinforcement, so installation typically happens over your current roof, eliminating the costly and disruptive tear-off. This also means no asphalt shingles hauled to the landfill. The lightweight design is a major cost and timeline advantage, and it's one reason the aluminum panels install so quickly, even in Ravensdale's roughly 194 cm annual snowfall conditions where tear-off would be impractical.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock's panels are manufactured from recycled content where possible. When your metal roof eventually reaches end-of-life (decades from now), it returns to recycling streams. Asphalt shingles tear off every 15–20 years and end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually—a cycle repeated every generation in your home's life. Over 60+ years, you'll replace asphalt four times and discard roughly 40 tons of waste per 100 roofs. Metal eliminates that cycle entirely. Plus, energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat (up to 0.55 reflectance), reducing cooling loads and your carbon footprint.
