What our customers are saying:
We have already recommended them. We put Ross in touch with our contractor for our contractor's other clients. We really had a great experience and everything went smoothly. The coordination of the project went really well and it was very smooth.
Interlock Roofing-Seattle provided professional service and the people are easy to work with. If there are any issues on your side, they'll take care of it, and also answer your questions. It is a little difficult to interface with the Ukrainian workers, but it worked out using a translation app to communicate. They'll get better as they go, so it's not an issue; everybody needs to work! They have great workers and there were no problems. For composition type roofing, they do need a better magnet to pick up the nails. They could have improved the communication and clean-up pertaining to picking up nails. It was a great experience! They have great crews!
Communication and definitions concerning scope is work and how the product worked
We had ordered an opening skylight, when it came it did not fit. The roofers put in a non opening one and said they would try to find one that fit. To this date we have not heard from them, or the company regarding that skylight. It seems there should be a refund of the difference in the price between the non-opening one and the opening one. I am happy with the roof, I just want either a skylight that opens or a refund of the difference in the price.
I would like to go with them, but I haven't yet because of different things I found on the internet regarding the warranty and how other people's reviews state that the roofs leak and the company doesn't follow through with replacing the roof. The negative reviews shied me away. They were nice people. We set the appointment for Friday, and they came a day early because they were in the area. That was fine, but personally, I like to expect them on the day we set. I'd like to see more pictures and examples of the product, and where to go locally.
None
I would say that the price is the only thing, even my rich friends are worried about the cost. I would say the price is the only thing. I got it becasue I wanted it not because it was cheap. Thanks for the efficient installation and the skylight is very impressive.
More care during the tear-off process.
There were two salesman. I interfaced with both of them and it can apply to both of them.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Black Diamond
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Black Diamond, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Black Diamond.
How does a metal roof handle Black Diamond's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that traps moisture on asphalt shingles. Black Diamond receives about 194 cm of snow annually and endures roughly 58 freeze-thaw cycles per year, conditions that crack and curl traditional materials. Aluminum's oxide layer resists freeze-thaw damage without splitting or degrading, and optional snow guards can be installed on steeper pitches to manage discharge safely. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even with accumulated snow load.
With 1761 mm of annual rainfall, will a metal roof leak in Black Diamond's wet climate?
The four-way interlocking design creates multiple overlapping seams that channel water downward, and the tight panel-to-panel fit prevents water from entering gaps. Black Diamond averages 1761 mm of rain yearly, making reliable water shedding critical; Interlock panels are installed over a solid deck with underlayment, creating the same leak-resistant barrier as asphalt but without asphalt's degradation under constant moisture exposure. The aluminum itself never rots or swells—it maintains dimensional stability through thousands of rain cycles, keeping seams watertight for decades.
Why do freeze-thaw cycles in Washington hurt asphalt shingles but not aluminum roofing?
Asphalt absorbs moisture and becomes brittle in freezing temperatures, then expands and contracts as it thaws, eventually cracking and curling. Black Diamond's ~58 annual freeze-thaw days accelerate this cycle. Aluminum, by contrast, has a much lower coefficient of thermal expansion and does not absorb water, so it flexes without permanent deformation. Its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion initiation—a major concern in climates where freeze-thaw causes micro-damage that exposes underlying material to moisture.
Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Washington's damp climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; rusting is an iron-specific chemical process. Instead, aluminum naturally forms an extremely thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the base metal. Even if the surface is scratched—whether by weather, debris, or installation—the oxide instantly reforms, creating a permanent barrier. Black Diamond's wet climate (1761 mm rain annually) makes this self-healing property invaluable; the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking, provides an additional defense layer that steel roofing cannot match.
Does a metal roof stay secure during Black Diamond's wind gusts?
Black Diamond experiences typical gusts up to 128 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on individual fasteners. This engineering makes metal roofing safer in high-wind events than shingles, which begin lifting at much lower speeds. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with the International Building Code's wind load requirements for your region.
Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock panels carry the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the panels withstand impacts that severely damage or penetrate asphalt shingles. Many insurers offer premium discounts for roofs with Class 4 ratings because claims frequency drops significantly. Contact your agent with the product's UL 2218 certification; many carriers in Washington recognize this rating and apply discounts of 10–20%, offsetting installation costs over time.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof in Black Diamond?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is far lighter than the materials it visually replicates. This means the roof can be installed directly over most existing roofs without adding load-bearing costs. A 194 cm annual snowfall in Black Diamond requires careful design, but the lightweight aluminum distributes weight evenly and poses no structural risk, eliminating one of metal roofing's common misconceptions.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles degrade from UV exposure and lose granules annually, requiring inspection and eventual replacement. Wood shake or cedar shingle roofs in Black Diamond's wet climate develop algae, moss, and rot despite regular cleaning and retreatment. Aluminum never rots, splits, or curls, and the Alunar coating is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance requirements. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspections are sensible for any roof, but Interlock panels do not require sealing, painting, or the preventive treatments that wood and asphalt demand, cutting long-term ownership costs significantly.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of my home?
Yes, when you compare total cost of ownership. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years and require tear-off and disposal twice in a 40-year span; labor and landfill fees add 40–60% to replacement costs. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers for 50 years to the next owner, protecting your investment and increasing resale appeal. Add Black Diamond's heavy snow (194 cm) and high freeze-thaw cycling (58 days), which accelerate asphalt degradation, and a metal roof becomes the last roof you buy. Current financing (no payments, no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off) reduces initial financial barriers.
How long does metal roof installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?
Installation typically requires 1–3 days depending on roof size and complexity, and yes, Interlock panels install directly over existing asphalt shingles or wood shakes without removal. This approach eliminates tear-off labor and disposal costs. The four-way interlocking panels install quickly because each piece locks firmly to its neighbors, reducing fastening time compared to shingle-by-shingle application. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and handles all permitting and inspections to ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance. This faster timeline and labor efficiency, combined with the ability to avoid costly removal, deliver measurable savings versus traditional reroofing projects.
