Review: May 10, 2019

We are extremely grateful for the reimbursement and cancellation of our roof however I deeply regret having to do this as the peace of mind from an Interlock Roof would have been wonderful! We are facing an uncertain time headband that money is critical now to be able to remain in our home, again we are most appreciative. God bless you and your business...

Review: May 1, 2020Completion: March 13, 2020

Preventing phone tag by having the office staff leave more detailed project status messages rather than just "call me back" would have been very helpful. While our project was understandably delayed due to weather and material availability, it was difficult for us to get updates and specific information on what was happening. That made scheduling the plumbers and solar installers much more difficult for us. We were pleased that the installation crew was able to install the aluminum roofing materials in a manner allowing us to keep our gutter helmets on the eavestroughs. The crew was also helpful in assisting and coordinating with the relocation of the plumbing vent stack by the plumber so that additional solar panels could be installed.

My only concern is getting repeated phone calls regarding surveys.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Belleville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Belleville, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Belleville.

Will metal roofing hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Belleville sees about 84 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum won't crack, split, or curl the way asphalt and wood do when water penetrates and expands. The material is homogeneous; it expands and contracts uniformly without stress points. The Alunar coating stays intact through these cycles (warranted 30 years against degradation), and the self-healing oxide layer beneath means microscopic scratches seal themselves. You're looking at a roof that gets stronger with age in this climate, not weaker.

How does a metal roof handle Belleville's snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt. The smooth, hard surface and steep angle encourage slides rather than accumulation. Belleville averages about 89 centimeters of snow annually, and because Interlock panels are four-way interlocking, water and melt drain cleanly through the seams without pooling that feeds ice dams. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow load stress is minimal, and you can add snow guards above windows or walkways if you want to control shedding. Asphalt absorbs melt water; metal sheds it.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Wisconsin?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—iron is what oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the bare metal beneath. When scratched, that oxide heals itself. The Alunar coating (70% PVDF fluorocarbon, applied both sides) adds a second armor layer, especially valuable in humid climates. Belleville's 781 mm of annual rain and freeze-thaw cycles won't corrode your roof. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant vigilance against rust breakthrough. Aluminum gives you decades without that worry.

Is a metal roof strong enough for Belleville's wind gusts?

Completely. Belleville sees typical gusts around 104 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to move as one locked system. The warranty covers wind resistance up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above your region's recorded extremes. Each panel hooks to its neighbors at four points; wind tries to peel them, but interlocking resists that force. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms the system for IBC/IRC high-wind zones. Over 25 years installed across North America, from coastal storms to mountain passes, the interlocking design has proven itself.

Does metal roofing hold up in hail, and can it lower my insurance?

Metal roofing rates UL 2218 Class 4 impact—the highest rating available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Belleville's hail risk is moderate, but when it does strike, asphalt shingles dent and crack instantly; aluminum panels flex and spring back undamaged. Many insurers offer discounts (5–15%) for Class 4 impact roofing because it reduces claim frequency and severity. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 rating; they'll see lower risk. The durability record speaks: Interlock panels have been installed since 1998 in regions with far more hail than southern Wisconsin sees.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none—that's the point. Asphalt requires annual inspection, moss/algae treatment, gutter cleaning, and shingle replacement every 15–20 years. Wood shake needs chemical treatment and frequent repairs. Interlock metal roofing requires only occasional gutter cleaning and a rinse if debris sits (leaves, pollen). Belleville's 3,089 sunshine hours yearly mean your roof self-cleans in sun and rain; the Alunar coating prevents chalking and algae growth (CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance). No sealing, no patches, no premature replacement. One homeowner in a similar climate reported zero service calls in 20 years.

Can metal roofing actually lower my cooling costs?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers reflective options with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity 0.84—meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it the way asphalt does. In Belleville's climate (about 9.1°C mean temperature, but warm summers), this matters most June through August. Cool Roof Rating Council certification means independent testing confirms the reflectance. You won't see savings during Wisconsin winters, but the lighter interior temperatures in summer reduce AC runtime. Over a 50-year roof life, reflective coatings add measurable utility savings, especially if you're coming off dark asphalt.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

Almost never. The Shake and Tile profiles weigh about 96% less than real slate or clay tile—0.58 and 0.59 lb/sq ft respectively. Your existing rafters are already built to support asphalt shingles (heavier than metal), so structural reinforcement is almost always unnecessary. This also means Interlock installs over most existing roofs without tear-off, saving thousands in labor and landfill fees. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms this across standard framing. Belleville contractors appreciate the speed: no structural engineering delays, no temporary bracing, no surprise foundation surprises. It's one reason metal roofing is becoming the smart retrofit choice for older homes.

Is metal roofing worth the higher upfront cost?

Metal roofing costs more upfront—typically 2–3× asphalt—but it's the last roof you'll ever buy. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times in 50 years, each time paying labor, hauling, and new materials. Interlock carries a non-prorated lifetime limited warranty for the original owner (transferable, with 50 years for the next owner), covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. Add zero maintenance, no algae treatments, no emergency repairs, and no ice-dam damage. Over 50 years in Belleville's 781 mm rain and 89 cm snow climate, the total cost of ownership—material plus labor plus maintenance plus replacements—favors metal by thousands. You're buying stability and predictability.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Belleville?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001—over two decades of experience installing in Dane County weather. The company manufactures in Delta, BC, and handles direct installation and service, so you're not relying on third-party contractors unfamiliar with the system. Local experience matters: they know Belleville's snow loads, wind patterns, and freeze-thaw rhythm. They'll walk you through profile choices (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, Standing Seam), handle permitting, and ensure installation meets ICC-ES standards. Contact them directly for a site assessment and warranty terms; they can answer questions specific to your home's orientation and existing structure.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Belleville’s climate?

Yes. Belleville averages about 89 cm of snow, 781 mm of rain, roughly 84 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 104 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
