Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.

Review: September 27, 2023Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: July 27, 2023Completion: May 22, 2023

The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Review: May 9, 2023Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cold Spring Prairie

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cold Spring Prairie, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cold Spring Prairie.

How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin snow and ice in Cold Spring Prairie?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents water from refreezing at the eaves. Cold Spring Prairie averages about 84 cm of snow annually with roughly 83 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that create ice-dam risk on asphalt. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels (UL 2218 Class 4 rated) stay rigid through repeated thawing and refreezing. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding. The lightweight construction at 0.41 lb/sq ft means no roof load concerns even after heavy wet snow.

Why does aluminum outperform other roofing materials through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum expands and contracts minimally across temperature swings, so it flexes through the 83 annual freeze-thaw days without cracking, curling, or splitting like asphalt, wood, or clay. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) was engineered for thermal cycling; its oxide layer self-heals microscopic scratches, blocking corrosion pathways that plague steel. Interlock's Alunar coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, remains flexible at -20°C and above, so seals stay intact through Wisconsin's seasonal extremes.

Can a metal roof withstand Cold Spring Prairie's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Cold Spring Prairie's typical gusts reach about 100 km/h, well within that safety margin. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners; panels bite into one another, multiplying the holding power. Ice and snow add weight, which further anchors the roof. Installation over solid decking (with no gaps) means wind cannot find purchase underneath—a structural advantage asphalt shingles cannot match.

Does metal roofing help with hail damage or insurance costs in Wisconsin?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts (typically 10-20%) for Class 4 metal roofs because they resist hail damage far better than asphalt. While Cold Spring Prairie's climate data doesn't flag hail as dominant, the region's severe weather potential makes a non-denting, non-cracking roof valuable. Unlike asphalt, which crazes and loses granules in impacts, aluminum's hardness and flexibility deflect blows. Check with your insurer for local premium reductions.

Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal tile roof?

No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. A concrete tile roof weighs 10-15 lb/sq ft, which often requires expensive structural upgrades. Interlock's aluminum tile delivers authentic texture at a fraction of the weight, so it installs directly over most existing roofs and structures without reinforcement. This saves thousands in framing costs and lets you upgrade from asphalt without contractor anxiety. The Guardian lifetime warranty begins immediately, with no hidden structural conditions to negotiate.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or shake?

Aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance. There is no rust to treat, no granules to replace, no splits to caulk, and no algae growth in Wisconsin's climate. Asphalt loses granules steadily; shake and cedar require regular treatment to prevent rot and splitting. Cold Spring Prairie receives about 3084 sunshine hours per year and about 838 mm of rain—enough that asphalt degrades visibly every 15-20 years. Interlock's Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Gutters stay clear because water sheds fast. A 50-year roof saves you from roof-replacement projects while your home stands.

Can metal roofing lower my cooling bills in summer?

Yes, if you choose energy-efficient colors. Interlock offers reflective finishes with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These finishes bounce summer heat rather than absorbing it like dark asphalt does, reducing air-conditioning load. Cold Spring Prairie's about 3084 annual sunshine hours make reflectivity valuable, especially as summers warm. energy-efficiency colors carry no premium over standard finishes. Winter heating is unaffected because the insulation value comes from the deck and cavity, not the roof material.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than replacing shingles?

Dramatically. Interlock roofing is roughly 95% recyclable aluminum; at end of life, it has genuine scrap value and returns to the aluminum supply chain. Asphalt shingles are not recyclable and end up in landfills by the millions of tons. Each roof replacement generates a 1-3 ton tear-off. Over 50 years, a single home avoids up to three landfill-destined tear-offs by choosing metal once. Cold Spring Prairie's ~83 freeze-thaw cycles per year accelerate asphalt failure, making the sustainability gap even wider. Interlock's lifetime warranty—non-prorated for the original owner—means you install once and recycle responsibly decades later.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can you install over my existing shingles?

Interlock installs in 2-5 days on a typical single-family home, depending on roof size and complexity. Installation over existing asphalt shingles is standard and saves the tear-off cost; the new roof's lightweight construction (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no framing upgrades. Installers snap panels together four-way interlocking while fastening to the solid deck, creating a weathertight seal as they work. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 installation standards (reissued 2025). The process is cleaner and faster than asphalt replacement, with minimal waste and no tar odor.

What makes Interlock's lifetime warranty different from asphalt warranty claims?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductible or percentage payout. Asphalt warranties are prorated steeply (often worthless after year 10) and exclude common failures like granule loss and curling. Interlock's guarantee is transferable once; the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. Cold Spring Prairie's combination of 838 mm rain, 84 cm snow, and 83 freeze-thaw cycles stresses materials continuously. A truly non-prorated warranty reflects confidence in aluminum's durability through genuine Wisconsin conditions.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Cold Spring Prairie’s climate?

Yes. Cold Spring Prairie averages about 84 cm of snow, 838 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
