Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026 Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Review: May 17, 2017

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Palmyra Prairie

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Palmyra Prairie, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Palmyra Prairie.

Will a metal roof hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. With about 79 freeze-thaw days per year in Palmyra Prairie, material durability matters. Unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl as they expand and contract, aluminum's 3105-H24 alloy flexes without permanent deformation. The Alunar coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) protects the oxide layer, which self-heals when micro-scratched. The four-way interlocking panels move as one system, shedding water before it can refreeze beneath the surface. Your roof survives the cycle intact.

How does an Interlock metal roof handle Palmyra Prairie's snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Palmyra Prairie receives about 88 cm of snow yearly, and the smooth aluminum surface (especially Standing Seam and Slate profiles) prevents ice dams by allowing meltwater to flow freely. Snow guards can be installed at eaves to manage avalanche risk on steeper slopes. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together so snow weight distributes evenly without panel movement or separation. Aluminum's extraordinary lightness—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your home's structure isn't strained, even when snow accumulates during the region's typical 22 km/h winds with gusts to 96 km/h.

Will an aluminum metal roof rust in Palmyra Prairie's rainy climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Steel roofs corrode; Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself when scratched. With 822 mm of annual rainfall in Palmyra Prairie, water exposure is constant, but aluminum's oxide film regenerates automatically—there's no rust cycle to initiate. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) adds a second barrier, especially valuable in freeze-thaw regions where moisture gets driven into seams. This is why Interlock panels install from salt-air coasts to Antarctic research stations without corrosion failure.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The four-way interlocking panels distribute impact energy across the system rather than concentrating it on a single shingle. Many homeowners see insurance premium reductions because Class 4 ratings mean fewer claims. Wisconsin's hail risk is real, and metal's proven track record beats asphalt hands down. Ask your insurer about discounts; your policy may recognize metal's durability advantage. A single large hail event can destroy an asphalt roof; Interlock's engineering absorbs that punishment and keeps working.

Is Interlock metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you calculate the full lifecycle cost. Asphalt roofs last 15–20 years in Wisconsin's freeze-thaw environment (about 79 freeze-thaw days annually) and fail faster under UV and moisture. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—meaning it covers material failure from day one through your ownership, no degradation schedule. A typical home buys asphalt roofs 2–3 times over a 50-year span; Interlock is your final roof purchase. Add in zero maintenance (no moss treatment, no algae cleaning), no major repairs, transferable warranty value at resale, and avoided landfill costs, and the math shifts decisively in metal's favor over the roof's entire service life.

Can Interlock metal roofing handle Palmyra Prairie's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Palmyra Prairie's typical wind gusts reach 96 km/h, well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together on all four sides so wind cannot peel or separate individual panels—a common failure mode in asphalt and standing-seam systems that use fasteners only along one edge. This engineering redundancy matters during severe weather. Every panel movement is distributed across the entire roof network, not concentrated at fastener points. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms installation compliance for your region.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Very little. Asphalt roofs need algae treatment, moss removal, gutter clearing, and regular fastener checks—ongoing costs that add up. Interlock metal requires no chemical maintenance or preventive repairs. Rinse debris twice yearly with a garden hose if you wish; that's optional in most cases. The four-way interlocking panels won't split, curl, or lose granules the way asphalt does in freeze-thaw climates experiencing 79 annual cycles. Ice won't build up because the smooth aluminum surface sheds water before it refreezes. No fasteners loosen over time. Over a 50-year ownership horizon, the maintenance savings alone justify the material choice, especially when combined with the Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage and zero repair triggers.

What architectural styles does Interlock offer in Wisconsin?

Five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates a traditional aesthetic at a fraction of the weight and maintenance burden. Slate suits contemporary and colonial homes; Cedar Shingle and Shake echo farmhouse and cottage character; Mediterranean Tile complements Spanish and transitional designs; Standing Seam works for modern or industrial aesthetics. All profiles use the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum and Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading). The Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile, so you avoid structural reinforcement costs while keeping the authentic look. Choose the style that matches your home's character without compromise on durability.

Does an Interlock metal roof help with cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), Cool Roof Rating Council certified. Metal reflects heat that asphalt absorbs; dark asphalt can reach 180°F on sunny days while reflective metal stays much cooler, reducing air conditioning load. Palmyra Prairie averages about 3128 sunshine hours yearly, so heat gain is cumulative. Aluminum's high reflectivity and emissivity work together—the roof sheds incoming solar energy rather than storing it in your attic. Combined with proper ventilation, this translates to measurable utility savings during warm months and reduced HVAC strain. Over 50 years of ownership, energy savings compound.

Can Interlock install over my existing roof, or does it need a tear-off?

Installation typically occurs over the existing roof—no tear-off required. The extraordinary lightness of aluminum (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, Tile at 0.59) means most existing structural framing handles the load without reinforcement. A solid roof deck and proper underlayment ensure weather-tight installation and keep interior noise at asphalt-quiet levels despite metal's reputation. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and handles all local permitting and installation coordination. The process typically completes within 2–3 weeks depending on roof complexity. Avoiding a tear-off saves money, disposal costs, and project disruption. Your installer will assess your existing deck to confirm overlay suitability during the site visit.
