Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026 Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Review: May 17, 2017

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Whitewater Highlands

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Whitewater Highlands, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Whitewater Highlands.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its flexibility and non-corrosive nature mean freeze-thaw cycling won't degrade the material itself. Whitewater Highlands experiences about 81 freeze-thaw days per year, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—protects the aluminum's oxide layer, which self-heals when scratched. The four-way interlocking panel design accommodates movement without compromising weathertightness, unlike slate or concrete tile that crack under repeated freezing stress.

How does a metal roof perform under heavy snow loads?

Snow sheds rapidly off smooth metal surfaces, reducing ice dam formation—a major advantage in regions averaging about 120 cm of annual snow like Whitewater Highlands. The Shake and Slate profiles' textured finish grips light snow slightly longer than Standing Seam, but all profiles remain substantially lighter than slate or concrete tile (the Tile profile weighs ~96% less), eliminating the structural strain that causes ice backup. Snow guards can be installed at the eave if you prefer slower shedding to prevent neighbor-yard snowfall, but the material itself prevents the ice-dam cycle that asphalt shingles enable.

Are metal roofs safe in Whitewater Highlands' wind gusts?

The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above the regional mean wind gusts near 100 km/h. The four-way interlocking panel system—each edge locked to its neighbor—distributes uplift forces across the entire roof rather than concentrating them on fasteners. This distributed grip is why Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC code compliance) approves the system for high-wind regions. Local wind patterns in Jefferson County rarely exceed sustained 50 km/h, so the 120 mph warranty provides a substantial safety margin.

Do metal roofs perform well in hail, and can I save on insurance?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on comprehensive or homeowner policies, though your agent's discount eligibility depends on your carrier's underwriting. With Wisconsin's variable spring storm patterns, the combination of impact resistance and potential premium reduction makes metal roofing financially attractive over asphalt shingles, which require replacement after major hail events.

Why does aluminum resist rust better than steel roofing?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in steel. Instead, a thin oxide layer forms on the surface and self-heals when scratched, providing permanent corrosion resistance without ongoing maintenance. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloys (ASTM B209 certified) were chosen specifically for durability in salt-air and freeze-thaw environments. Even in inland Whitewater Highlands' ~775 mm annual rainfall and variable humidity, this self-protecting chemistry outperforms steel roofing, which requires paint or coating maintenance and eventually rusts through.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof really last?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance without deductibles or declining benefits. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale appeal. The aluminum substrate and Alunar 70% PVDF coating warrant separately against chalking and fading over 30 years. Combined with manufacturing since 1998 and installations from coastal salt-air to an Antarctic research station, this warranty structure reflects genuine confidence in durability under Whitewater Highlands' 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles and ~88 cm of snow.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot, while the Tile profile—which replicates heavy concrete or clay tile—weighs approximately 96% less than its traditional counterpart. This allows Interlock to install directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs without adding load that would require truss reinforcement or expensive structural upgrades. Since Whitewater Highlands receives about 120 cm of snow annually, the weight savings means your existing framing handles snow accumulation more safely than if you'd replaced asphalt with authentic tile or slate.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially than asphalt but costs less over the roof's life because you buy it only once. Asphalt typically requires replacement every 15–20 years, while Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty, non-rusting aluminum, and proven 26-year track record mean no major replacement during your ownership or your buyer's first 50 years. In Whitewater Highlands' climate—81 freeze-thaw days and ~775 mm rain annually—asphalt degrades faster due to thermal cycling and moisture infiltration. When you account for labor, disposal, and multiple re-roofing cycles, metal roofing's initial premium vanishes against asphalt's recurring cost.

Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Most asphalt shingles are landfilled after 15–20 years; metal roofs installed over existing shingles avoid demolition waste entirely, and the aluminum substrate retains value for recycling decades later. The manufacturing process in Delta, BC uses established industrial aluminum supply chains, and the lightweight panels (0.41 lb/sq ft for Slate) require less fuel to transport than slate, tile, or even multiple asphalt shipments over the roof's life. Whitewater Highlands' approximately 3,074 annual sunshine hours support cool-roof color options (energy-efficient, up to 0.55 solar reflectance) that reduce cooling demand.

Are metal roofs fire-safe, and do they meet Wisconsin building codes?

Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and meets Class A fire classification, the highest rating available. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) certifies compliance with IBC and IRC codes that govern Wisconsin construction. This matters because metal roofing eliminates the combustible substrate risk present in asphalt or wood shake roofs—aluminum will not ignite or spread flame. The CALGreen verification also confirms reduced maintenance needs, so you won't accumulate leaf debris that increases fire risk. For a region with about 3,074 annual sunshine hours and typical dry periods, the non-combustible material provides peace of mind without compromising durability under Whitewater Highlands' variable precipitation.
