I never really thought I could be thrilled about a roof, but I have to tell you; our new Interlock roof is beautiful! It adds true elegance to our home. We know it adds value as well, and the fact that we will never need to re-roof again is a definite advantage. Everyone within our organization, from the initial phone contact to the installation crew, was courteous and pleasant to work with. The install went smoothly and the crew kept the site clean from beginning to end. Everybody we have shown our Interlock roof to has seemed quite impressed also. We would (and in fact have already done so) recommend Interlock Roofing to others.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: April 10, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Dover Center

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Dover Center, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Dover Center.

Will a metal roof handle Dover Center's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or failing?

Yes—aluminum's crystal structure simply expands and contracts with temperature swings without developing the stress fractures that crack asphalt or ceramic tile. Dover Center experiences about 86 freeze-thaw days per year, and roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) moves freely without permanent damage. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate this movement, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking) remains flexible through thousands of cycles. Asphalt becomes brittle in cold; aluminum gets tougher.

How does an Interlock metal roof perform under Dover Center's average 103 cm of annual snow?

Snow slides off a smooth metal surface far more readily than asphalt, reducing ice-dam risk and the weight burden on your framing. Your roof sheds the seasonal 103 cm without holding it—critical when mean annual wind gusts reach 102 km/h, which can destabilize heavy snow piles. The lightweight panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean no structural reinforcement is required, even if you add snow guards for safety. The interlocking design channels meltwater reliably, preventing the freeze-thaw trapping that leads to leaks in traditional roofs.

Is a metal roof secure in Dover Center's typical gusts and storms?

Completely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above Dover Center's recorded gust speeds around 102 km/h. The interlocking system means each panel locks to its neighbors in four directions, so wind pressure cannot separate them from the deck. Unlike shingles, which lift and peel under stress, these panels form a unified system. Installation over a solid deck with proper fastening per ESR-1790 (the ICC-ES evaluation reissued 2025) creates a wind-tight envelope that protects your home through the region's gusty springs and fall transitions.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can it lower my insurance costs?

No—Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Most homeowners see insurance premium reductions because metal roofs resist impact damage that would require costly asphalt replacement. Ask your agent about discounts when you install a Class 4-rated roof. Dover Center's climate means spring and summer hail is a real risk; aluminum's hardness and the interlocking system's rigidity absorb impact energy better than any shingle. File your roofing upgrade with your insurer—many offer immediate relief.

Do I need to reinforce my home's framing for a metal roof?

No reinforcement needed. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than traditional concrete or clay tile—so your existing roof structure handles the installation without costly upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is a fraction of slate's weight. This matters in Dover Center because it means faster installation, lower labor costs, and the ability to install over your existing asphalt roof without removal. Many roofs are candidates for direct overlay, shortening the project timeline and keeping tear-off debris out of landfills.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Almost none. Asphalt requires regular inspections, algae treatment, and shingle replacement every 15–20 years; wood shake roofs need periodic sealing and repair from splitting and rot. Interlock metal roofing, once installed, is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Rain and Dover Center's 3110 annual sunshine hours clean the surface naturally. The Alunar finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) means no recoating. Over the roof's lifetime, you'll spend far less on repairs than traditional materials demand, freeing you from the cycle of seasonal work and worry.

What's the warranty, and how long will my roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Transfer it once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, adding measurable value to your home's sale. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed them from salt-air coastal homes to an Antarctic research station, proving durability across extreme climates far harsher than Dover Center's 86 freeze-thaw days. This is the last roof you'll buy.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes—aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, so at end of life, your roof enters the recycling stream rather than a landfill. Asphalt roofing generates millions of tons of waste annually; Interlock aluminum breaks that cycle. Manufacturing uses far less energy than producing new tile or slate. Over Dover Center's 746 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw seasons, a single asphalt roof may fail twice in a home's lifespan, each time creating tear-off debris. One Interlock metal roof, lasting generations and fully recyclable, eliminates those repeat cycles. Choose a roof that works with the earth, not against it.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation speed depends on roof size and complexity, but most Dover Center homes are completed within days rather than weeks. The lightweight aluminum panels (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) speed the process compared to slate or tile. In many cases, you can install directly over your existing asphalt roof, eliminating tear-off labor and cost—critical when Dover Center's weather windows compress the work season. Our local installer, serving the region since 2001, assesses your specific roof for direct overlay eligibility and handles all fastening per ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards. You get a finished, weathertight roof quickly, with minimal disruption.

Do you have a local installer in Dover Center, Racine County?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Dover Center region and Racine County since 2001, with deep knowledge of local weather, building codes, and homeowner needs. Our installer is familiar with the area's architectural styles, HOA requirements, and seasonal challenges—103 cm of snow, 102 km/h gusts, and the region's 86 annual freeze-thaw cycles. We handle site inspections, engineering for direct overlay where possible, color selection, permitting, and full warranty registration. Contact us for a consultation and transparent estimate; we're your neighbors, invested in your roof's performance and your peace of mind.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Dover Center’s climate?

Yes. Dover Center averages about 103 cm of snow, 746 mm of rain, roughly 86 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 102 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
