Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Indianford

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Indianford, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Indianford.

Will metal roofing hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates. Indianford experiences roughly 87 freeze-thaw days per year, where wood swells and contracts, asphalt becomes brittle, and concrete tile cracks. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without warping, splitting, or losing integrity. The material has no water absorption, so ice cannot penetrate and cause internal damage. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy and four-way interlocking design flex together as a unified system, distributing thermal stress evenly. Your roof won't develop the seasonal leaks common with traditional materials in this climate.

How does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Rock County?

Metal roofing sheds snow safely while supporting it fully. Indianford averages about 86 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to support the full snow load when it sits on the roof—no shedding required. The lightweight design (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means your existing structure carries the snow with ease; no reinforcement needed. When conditions do warm slightly, the smooth aluminum surface and standing-seam options encourage efficient melting and drainage without the ice-damming problems that plague asphalt. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled release.

Can a metal roof rust in Wisconsin's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Unlike steel roofing, which oxidizes and corrodes, aluminum develops a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal. When the surface is scratched, this oxide reforms automatically, sealing the damage. Interlock panels ship with a 30-year Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides—extra insurance in any climate. With Indianford's average annual rainfall of 788 mm and seasonal moisture cycling, aluminum's inherent non-corrosive nature gives you genuine peace of mind that your roof will not rust through, no matter how many freeze-thaw days or weather swings occur.

Does a metal roof shaped like Mediterranean tile need structural reinforcement?

No—metal tile requires no structural work at all. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than authentic concrete or clay tile. A conventional clay tile roof can weigh 15+ pounds per square foot; aluminum tile weighs almost nothing by comparison. Your existing framing easily supports the load, and you can install directly over your current roof in most cases, avoiding expensive tear-off and disposal costs. This advantage is especially valuable in Indianford, where 86 cm of annual snow adds seasonal weight—lighter roofing means your structure handles winter loading safely without upgrades.

Will Interlock metal roofing blow off in Wisconsin windstorms?

Four-way interlocking panels hold firm in severe wind. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above Indianford's typical gusts, which average around 20 km/h with occasional peaks near 95 km/h. The interlocking seams work like puzzle pieces; each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering means your roof won't lift, flutter, or separate during the spring and fall wind events common to Rock County. The warranty backs this confidence with explicit wind-speed coverage.

Is metal roofing a good choice for hail protection in this region?

Absolutely. Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available for any roofing material—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent, tear, and fail under impact, or wood shakes, which split, aluminum's inherent strength and resilience absorb hail without permanent damage or water entry. Many insurance underwriters recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for impact-rated metal roofs. Rock County's severe weather patterns make this protection valuable; a Class 4 rating gives you both physical durability and potential policy savings over the life of your roof.

Do cool metal roof colors really save money on air conditioning?

Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors measurably reduce cooling loads. Select finishes offer initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce sunlight away rather than absorbing and re-radiating heat into your attic like asphalt does. Indianford receives about 3,093 sunshine hours annually—enough to make reflectance meaningful through spring, summer, and early fall. energy-efficiency and Cool Roof Rating Council certification document these savings; your HVAC system runs less frequently, lowering utility costs. For a climate with 788 mm annual rainfall and moderate cooling seasons, the choice of color matters—light finishes will reduce peak attic temperatures and extend the life of ventilation systems.

What does a lifetime metal roof warranty actually cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Non-prorated means there are no deductibles or coverage reductions as the roof ages—if a defect occurs, it's covered in full. The warranty is also one-time transferable, granting the next owner 50 years of coverage from the completion date. This is far longer than asphalt's 15-25 year lifespan and removes the uncertainty of future roof replacement. Combined with the 30-year coating finish warranty, your Indianford home has protection that lasts generations, and that transferability enhances resale appeal.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Metal roofing is the last roof you will buy, which reframes the cost conversation. Asphalt typically costs less initially but requires replacement every 15-25 years; over a 50-year homeownership span, you replace asphalt two to three times. Interlock, with Guardian Warranty coverage and aluminum's proven durability across 27 years of manufacturing, comes with no planned obsolescence. Factor in Indianford's 87 annual freeze-thaw days—a major driver of asphalt failure—and metal's superior resistance to expansion-contraction stress, plus potential insurance discounts for impact rating (UL 2218 Class 4), and the lifetime cost favors metal decisively. You avoid multiple tear-offs, landfill fees, and recurring roof anxiety.

Is aluminum roofing really better for the environment?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock roofing breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Every asphalt replacement in Indianford generates waste that sits in landfills for decades; metal roofing, by contrast, can be reclaimed and reused indefinitely when your home is eventually renovated or demolished. Aluminum's light weight (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) also means lower transportation emissions during installation. The manufacturing process is energy-intensive, but the 50-year or longer service life, combined with full recyclability and the elimination of repeat replacements, yields a substantially lower environmental footprint over time. Choosing a roof that lasts one lifetime instead of three is the single most sustainable roofing decision a homeowner can make.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Indianford’s climate?

Yes. Indianford averages about 86 cm of snow, 788 mm of rain, roughly 87 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
