Having spare parts on hand in case a mistake was made. Having an upper-level supervisor available at all times to be reached while the job was being done. Victor's crew completed the work on a Sunday and issues with the snow guards happened at this point. He said that he couldn't authorize or pick up additional snow guards and that Tony Lupton was away that weekend and could not be reached to resolve the problem (perhaps there should have been a backup contact instead). Victor also did not want to comeback on Monday to resolve the issue as this would have set his crew back and cost him money.

“I really liked the use of satellite imaging and computer software to calculate the square footage of the roof area. I thought this was a very fair and accurate way of giving an estimate. We had another large metal roofing company give us an estimate in which he did some simple calculations from the ground and it seemed less precise in terms of the cost estimate that we were given, so we really appreciated this. John also removed the roof area of a shed attached to the house that was accidentally included in the pricing. Pricing was fair and reasonable.”

“Victor's crew seemed to be very experienced working with the Interlock product. This being said, there were a few tiles that were scratched. Though not visible from the street level, it is noticeable upclose. Also, one of the edge covering tiles as well as a regular roof tile underneath it above the garage appeared to be dented.”

“Many screws and nails were left in the gutter of the lower level roof (I was unable to inspect the upper level gutters, so I cannot comment on that). There was even a tool left in the gutter and one that was left in the flower garden. I picked up many nails and metal scraps and a couple of half/full panel pieces from around our house. There were also pieces of underlayment in and around our property. It rained heavily and snowed on the day prior to the final day of completion, but I still think a better job could have been done in terms of clean up. I also pulled a few cut tile pieces from our evergreen trees.”

“Towards the end of the project, there was an issue with the placement of snow guards above our front entrance roof. The crew installed the snow guards on the upper level rather than the lower portion (directly above the entrance) as indicated on the installation plan. There were also no more additional snow guards available to be able to remedy this problem. I had to problem solve this situation with Victor for about an hour or so and I felt pressured to come up with a solution or agree to one by the end of the day so that his crew would not have to come back to fix the issue. This was a very stressful situation for me and while I did understand the reasons (lack of additional guards) and potential remedy (moving the upper guards to the lower area) I wasn't pleased with having to deal with these problems. I was especially unhappy that our final solution required the removal of already installed snow guards from one spot of the roof to the other. I felt as if there should have been the availability for spare parts on hand for such incidents (especially given the premium price that I was paying for the roof and the fact that the mistake that was made was that of the crew's). Also, I don't feel like Victor's crew should have been so pressured to have to complete the work and not have the time to be able to come back the next day to fix such problems. After the completion of the job and payment, I emailed Tony Lupton about a few concerns that I had about the roof that I wasn't able to fully look at given the issue of the snow guards. It took him 2 business days and a second email sent to him to get back to me and he didn't address all the issues that I had mentioned (in particular, scratches on some of the tiles). One of the other issues about a tile that seemed to be dented he only addressed through email from the picture that I had sent and said it was how the pieces looked. Again, given the premium price I paid, I would have appreciated a more personal touch. Sending someone on site to speak to me in person to address my concerns is what I would expect from a big company such as Interlock.”

They worked hard and efficiently and were very professional on-site. Victor's crew was able to finish the entire upper roof area in one day and worked late to make sure it was fully complete prior to leaving and prior to the rain storm that was forecasted for the following day.”
