Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Millbrook, Ontario
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Dear Dave, Wow, what a roof... it is everything you said it would be and more. I just returned from vacation to find the roof finished on time and within budget. In addition, our tenants Cogeco Cable are very pleased also. As you know, I was looking for a long-term solution, and your product fit the bill perfectly. Thank you again for taking the time to explain the various differences between all the roofing products available. Your experience in the industry sure made the decision-making process much more straightforward. The aluminum solution was not inexpensive; however, the quality and longevity of your product more than makeup for the additional cost. Dave, we have a number of commercial properties that we manage, and you will be my first call when we have to replace the roof on any of those properties.
We wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. The initial information session, the quality of the product and workmanship and the follow-up have been excellent. In the low-key introductory session, we received sufficient Information to make an informed decision. With the range of colours and styles, we had several options that would have worked for our house. We were convinced that this product would have long-lasting benefits to the appearance of our house. The men who worked on our house, as well as being friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the product, worked quickly. It was really appreciated how they tidied as they went along. They kept us informed about the progress of their work and, in the end, did a walkthrough of the whole job. They explained how to go on the roof safely to do any future chimney work, for example. The Interlocking roof really has added to the attractiveness of the house. It looks smart and has drawn interest from neighbours and passers-by. We like the way the interlocking roof has become an integral part of the eaves troughing and protects the fascia boards, which will provide extra strength and protection. Already we notice that the autumn leaves are sliding away – and the squirrels too! We anticipate that snow and ice will act in the same way. We look forward to a roof that will continue to look good over time and provide Increased protection and insulation from the elements. We would have no hesitation in recommending your roof to others.
Had a service call today by Brad, on time professional with a very friendly manner. Treated me as a valued customer explaining things in an understandable manner. Thank You
We bought our home three years ago. It has an interlocking metal roof installed which we think is great. However we noticed that given the profile of the roof near the entry something needed to be done to stop snow from falling onto the entry porch. We contacted Interlock and they recommended a pair of snow bars. Their crew installed the two bars in short order at a very reasonable price. Since then, we have not had any further issue with snow falling onto the entry porch even with the recent several snowfalls. It was a great solution to our problem.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Millbrook
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Millbrook, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Millbrook.
How does a metal roof handle Millbrook's 107 cm of annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofing sheds snow faster than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface doesn't hold moisture the way porous shingles do. Millbrook experiences about 76 freeze-thaw days per year, which causes asphalt to crack and curl as it expands and contracts; aluminum's oxide layer remains stable through those cycles without degradation. The four-way interlocking panels prevent water infiltration when ice forms at the eaves, eliminating the hidden rot damage common under traditional roofing in freeze-thaw climates.
Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel does?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to form. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible oxide layer that protects the metal underneath; when that layer is scratched, it self-heals in minutes. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a second barrier and is warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading. This two-layer protection matters in Millbrook's 834 mm annual rainfall, where water exposure is constant and sustained.
Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing, or will I need expensive reinforcement?
Metal roofing is so light that almost no existing structure needs reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile—which visually matches heavy clay or concrete tile—installs at only 0.59 lb per square foot, making it roughly 96% lighter than real tile. Because Interlock panels install directly over your existing roof decking, you avoid the tear-off labor and landfill costs entirely. Most Millbrook homes built to standard codes can accommodate this weight without any structural modification, saving thousands compared to slate or tile.
Will freeze-thaw cycles degrade my metal roof over time?
No. Freeze-thaw degradation happens because water enters porous materials (wood, asphalt, concrete), freezes, expands, and cracks them from inside. Aluminum is non-porous and non-absorbent; water cannot enter the metal itself, so expansion damage cannot occur. With about 76 freeze-thaw days annually in Millbrook, asphalt shingles experience hundreds of damaging cycles over their 15-20 year lifespan. Interlock's aluminum panels, rated under ICC-ES ESR-1790, remain dimensionally stable through the entire span, maintaining their seal and integrity indefinitely.
How will my roof stand up to Millbrook's wind gusts, which reach 118 km/h?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panel design locks each sheet to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than placing stress on individual fasteners. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—exceeding Millbrook's recorded gust speeds. The rigid aluminum frame and mechanical interlock create a unified structure that doesn't flutter, leak, or lift even under sustained gusting, unlike shingles or loose-fit panels that can peel away.
What hail protection does metal roofing offer in Ontario?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-prorated warranty protection may qualify you for insurance discounts because the roof resists the hail damage that typically triggers claims. Many Ontario insurers recognize this durability and offer reduced premiums; contact your agent with the UL 2218 specification. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent easily and degrade from impact, aluminum's hardness means a single hailstorm won't necessitate a full replacement.
How do metal roofing costs compare to asphalt over the life of my roof?
Metal roofing costs more upfront but eliminates the replacement cycle. Asphalt roofs last 15-20 years and require complete tear-off and landfill disposal; you'll buy three asphalt roofs in 45-60 years. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime non-prorated limited warranty for the original owner, and transferable for 50 years to the next owner—you genuinely buy this roof once. The current regional promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and saves at least $2,499 on installation, reducing the cash-flow gap. Factor in avoided tear-off labor, disposal fees, and recurring contractor visits, and metal becomes the lower-cost choice over 50 years.
What exactly does the metal roofing warranty cover and for how long?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited non-prorated warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects asphalt roofs develop regularly. It's transferable to one subsequent owner for a 50-year term from completion date, which often covers the next homeowner's entire tenure. Unlike prorated warranties that decline in value each year, this coverage doesn't weaken. Combined with aluminum's chemically stable oxide layer and 30-year Alunar coating warranty, you're protected against the material failures that plague traditional roofing in Millbrook's 107 cm annual snowfall and 76 freeze-thaw days.
Do energy-efficiency metal roofs really reduce cooling costs?
Yes, when you choose energy-efficient colors. These finishes have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Millbrook receives about 3,112 sunshine hours annually, so summer heat gain is significant. Cool Roof Rating Council data shows reflective metal roofs keep attic temperatures 20-30°F lower than asphalt on sunny days, reducing air-conditioning load. While Millbrook's mean temperature is 9°C, summer peaks drive cooling costs; reflective metal also slows winter heat loss less than many assume because the coating's performance is symmetric.
Does Interlock Metal Roofing serve Millbrook with local installation?
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd. has served Central Ontario since 1998 and is the authorized local installer for Millbrook. The same company manufactures its panels in Delta, BC, and has installed roofing on homes in every climate from coastal salt-air regions to Antarctic research stations, bringing that breadth of experience to your project. Local service means faster response times, familiarity with Millbrook's building department, and direct accountability. Current regional promotion includes interest-free payments for 3 months and a minimum savings of $2,499 on installation, available through your local installer.
