They could have improved with communication on behalf of the start date. The roof looks great and we have lots of neighbors asking us where we got it. We passed along the sales contact information.

Review: May 6, 2021Completion: March 23, 2021

This installation was a replacement of our original Interlock roof due to weather damage. Improved installation techniques and higher quality material were apparent. Although the original roof was still quite serviceable, the new roof is a definite upgrade. Unanticipated delays were encountered between delivery of material and installation which were out of Interlock’s control. Attempts to communicate with Interlock, however, were challenging. It was not clear who to contact and at least one customer service phone # was apparently out of service.

Areas where flashing needs to extend beyond a vertical surface i.e. chimney's, second story corners, you need a method to provide a more professional look when making cuts in aluminum siding. Happy with my decision to purchase a roof from Interlock. It looks great. Time will tell if it will perform as promised.

Review: June 2, 2017

After researching the various metal roof manufacturers and metal roofs in general, we chose Interlock. In addition to offering a great selection of styles, Interlock was the only company that installed their own product. I liked being able to deal with one company regardless of the issue. My wife and I are very happy with our choice and results. The curb appeal has been enhanced, and we have gotten the thumbs up from our neighbors for the great look. I am happy with the performance of the roof, and I have found everything touted about this roof to be true. We had a tremendous thunderstorm come through and a downpour that was second to none. The noise from the rain hitting the roof was quieter than on the old shingle roof. I am eagerly anticipating the summer for the cooling benefit I expect to receive. Installation of the roof was flawless. The crew was very courteous and hard-working. It was obvious they were very skilled and knew what they were doing. They took the time to do it right. I believe they treated my property as if it was their very own. Communication was exceptional, and I was kept abreast of what had been done and what was going to be done each day. I even received a call from the salesperson following up which was totally unexpected. I would not hesitate to recommend Interlock to anyone who is looking for a metal roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Campton Hills

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Campton Hills, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Campton Hills.

Will a metal roof handle Campton Hills' freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or splitting?

Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure and flexibility mean it won't crack or split through the roughly 81 freeze-thaw days you experience annually. Unlike brittle asphalt or wood shakes, which absorb moisture and degrade as water expands and contracts, aluminum simply flexes. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) seals the surface so moisture stays out. Your roof stays intact through decades of winter and spring cycling that would damage other materials.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing handle heavy snow loads in northern Illinois?

Absolutely. Campton Hills receives about 77 centimeters of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow safely while preventing ice dams. The lightweight design—Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—eliminates the structural weight burden of traditional roofing, yet the panels lock together so firmly that snow won't shift or slide unexpectedly. You can add snow guards if desired, but the real advantage is that ice dams form less readily on metal because heat loss is minimal and surface tension works against ice adhesion.

Why doesn't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and does that matter in Illinois?

Metal roofs aren't all the same—steel rusts, but aluminum cannot. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (no iron), which forms a self-healing oxide layer that instantly repairs itself when scratched. In Campton Hills, where you average about 920 millimeters of rain per year, traditional steel metal roofs would begin oxidizing; aluminum won't. Even our two-sided Alunar coating (applied to both surfaces for salt-air protection) is backed by a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, giving you corrosion confidence for life.

Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts Campton Hills experiences?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above the typical gusts of about 105 km/h (65 mph) that occur in Kane County. The interlocking geometry distributes wind load across multiple panel edges rather than stressing fasteners alone, so the roof stays secure during severe storms. This design earned ICC-ES ESR-1790 code approval (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), meaning your installation meets or exceeds Illinois building standards for wind resistance.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and could it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize metal roofing's impact resistance and durability, sometimes offering premium reductions that offset part of your installation cost. Given Illinois hail risk, the combination of proof-tested impact performance and a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner means hail damage becomes a covered non-issue rather than a financial threat.

Do I need to reinforce my house before installing a metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock's Slate weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is typically required. You can install Interlock directly over most existing roofing, saving thousands in tear-off and structural work. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable in Campton Hills, where older homes may have wood framing not designed for heavy slate or tile—metal gives you that aesthetic without the structural expense or complexity.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal requires far less. Asphalt shingles need algae treatment and granule inspection every few years; wood shakes demand annual pressure washing, staining, and fungicide. Interlock's aluminum with two-sided Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance—occasional leaf removal and gutter cleaning are usually all you'll do. The coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years (measured to ASTM D4214/D2244 standards), and aluminum won't rot, split, or curl. In Campton Hills' ~3,037 annual sunshine hours and humid freeze-thaw climate, that low-maintenance durability saves you time and money for decades.

Will a metal roof really reduce my cooling costs?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective finishes achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce summer heat back into the atmosphere rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable cooling benefit. In Campton Hills, with about 3,037 sunshine hours annually and a mean temperature of 10.1°C, energy-efficiency colors reduce the heat gain that drives air-conditioning costs, especially during spring and fall when you'd otherwise run longer cycles.

What happens if I sell my house—does the roof warranty transfer?

Yes, and that's a major selling point. The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner and transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. This one-time transfer means your buyers inherit decades of protection against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling—something no asphalt roof can offer. Transferable long-term coverage like this often strengthens buyer confidence and can add perceived value, especially when competing homes in Campton Hills have traditional roofs approaching replacement.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, so your roof won't spend decades in a landfill the way asphalt shingles do. Asphalt tear-offs are routine maintenance costs that generate tons of waste annually across Kane County; metal roofing breaks that cycle. Over a 50+ year lifespan, one Interlock roof replaces multiple asphalt installations, eliminating repeated tear-off, hauling, and landfill impact. The aluminum itself comes from a mature recycling stream, so choosing metal means lower lifecycle environmental cost from day one.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Campton Hills’s climate?

Yes. Campton Hills averages about 77 cm of snow, 920 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 105 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
