I am more hesitant because of the amount of the price drops within 24 hours of the sales pitch. It was almost $20,000 less. Just kinda set me back and really made me think about the practices of the company. It made me a little uncomfortable.

They could have improved with communication on behalf of the start date. The roof looks great and we have lots of neighbors asking us where we got it. We passed along the sales contact information.

Review: May 6, 2021Completion: March 23, 2021

This installation was a replacement of our original Interlock roof due to weather damage. Improved installation techniques and higher quality material were apparent. Although the original roof was still quite serviceable, the new roof is a definite upgrade. Unanticipated delays were encountered between delivery of material and installation which were out of Interlock’s control. Attempts to communicate with Interlock, however, were challenging. It was not clear who to contact and at least one customer service phone # was apparently out of service.

Areas where flashing needs to extend beyond a vertical surface i.e. chimney's, second story corners, you need a method to provide a more professional look when making cuts in aluminum siding. Happy with my decision to purchase a roof from Interlock. It looks great. Time will tell if it will perform as promised.

Review: June 2, 2017

After researching the various metal roof manufacturers and metal roofs in general, we chose Interlock. In addition to offering a great selection of styles, Interlock was the only company that installed their own product. I liked being able to deal with one company regardless of the issue. My wife and I are very happy with our choice and results. The curb appeal has been enhanced, and we have gotten the thumbs up from our neighbors for the great look. I am happy with the performance of the roof, and I have found everything touted about this roof to be true. We had a tremendous thunderstorm come through and a downpour that was second to none. The noise from the rain hitting the roof was quieter than on the old shingle roof. I am eagerly anticipating the summer for the cooling benefit I expect to receive. Installation of the roof was flawless. The crew was very courteous and hard-working. It was obvious they were very skilled and knew what they were doing. They took the time to do it right. I believe they treated my property as if it was their very own. Communication was exceptional, and I was kept abreast of what had been done and what was going to be done each day. I even received a call from the salesperson following up which was totally unexpected. I would not hesitate to recommend Interlock to anyone who is looking for a metal roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sugar Grove Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sugar Grove Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sugar Grove Township.

Will a metal roof hold up to Illinois winters with all the freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum metal roofing actually thrives through freeze-thaw stress because the material itself doesn't absorb water or expand when frozen. Sugar Grove Township experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year, but aluminum's non-porous structure and self-healing oxide layer eliminate the cracking, splitting, and curling that plague asphalt and wood shakes under these conditions. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty) remain stable across temperature swings, making repeated freezing cycles a non-issue rather than a material weakness.

How does an Interlock metal roof handle heavy snow loads and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard metal surface prevents ice dams from forming as readily as porous asphalt. With about 77 cm of snow annually in Sugar Grove Township, the panels' extremely light weight (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means your structure bears far less load than it would under slate or clay tile, yet the four-way interlock maintains a secure seal even during temperature swings. Optional snow guards can be installed to manage avalanche conditions on steeper pitches—a choice asphalt cannot safely support without structural reinforcement.

With 920 mm of annual rainfall in the Chicago area, does a metal roof leak?

No; the four-way interlocking panel system is engineered to shed water faster than it can accumulate, and the solid deck plus underlayment combination prevents any water that finds a seam from reaching the interior. Kane County's 920 mm annual rainfall and typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h mean gutters and drainage matter, but the roof itself is inherently leak-proof when installed to spec per ICC-ES ESR-1790. Thousands of installations from coastal salt-air environments to an Antarctic research station confirm that water simply runs off the overlapping panels—the interlock design is the protection.

Can an Interlock metal roof survive Illinois wind gusts and storms?

Yes; Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and Sugar Grove Township's typical gusts reach 105 km/h—well within the system's capacity. The four-way interlock creates a unified, locked structure that transfers wind load across the entire roof plane rather than lifting individual shingles. This design earns Class 4 UL 2218 impact rating and passes ICC-ES ESR-1790 wind evaluation, so insurance companies and building officials recognize the engineering. The lightweight aluminum (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) also reduces the flexing that can loosen fasteners in heavier materials over time.

Why choose aluminum over steel for a metal roof in a freeze-thaw climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion. This is why Interlock installs everything from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations—the material itself is immune to rust, whereas steel roofing requires paint or coatings to prevent oxidation. Sugar Grove Township's freeze-thaw cycling (81 days annually) and 920 mm rainfall expose roofing to moisture year-round, but aluminum's inherent corrosion resistance means no maintenance painting, no rust stains, and no structural weakening. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides adds 30-year chalking and fading protection for aesthetic durability, but rusting is physically impossible.

Does hail damage affect metal roofs, and can it lower my insurance cost?

Interlock panels are rated UL 2218 Class 4 impact—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, a feature standard asphalt cannot match. Class 4 rating typically qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof's documented impact resistance reduces claim likelihood. Sugar Grove Township's 3037 annual sunshine hours and variable spring storms make hail a real consideration, but aluminum's hardness and the warranty's explicit perforation coverage give insurers confidence. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ESR-1790 code compliance to explore discounts—many carriers recognize this as lower-risk roofing.

Can my home's frame support a metal tile roof without reinforcement?

Yes; Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is required and the roof often installs directly over existing shingles. Traditional tile weighs 750–1000+ lb per 100 sq ft, but Interlock Tile delivers the aesthetic at a fraction of that load. Sugar Grove Township's 77 cm annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycling (81 days per year) place stress on older structures, making this weight advantage especially valuable: you gain authentic tile appearance without the costly foundation or rafter upgrades that real tile demands. ICC-ES ESR-1790 confirms this light-weight installation across the model range.

What warranty does an Interlock metal roof carry, and can I transfer it?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that plague asphalt and wood over time. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of warranty coverage from installation completion. This means a roof purchased today at age 35 could still carry 50 years of protection when you sell your Sugar Grove home decades from now. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty and the freeze-thaw durability proven across 81 annual cycles, this warranty reflects the engineering difference: aluminum doesn't weaken with age the way organic materials do.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock requires no coating, resealing, or algae treatments—just basic gutter cleaning, the same as any roof. Asphalt shingles need periodic sealant reapplication; wood shakes require fungicide and re-staining to survive freeze-thaw cycling (81 days annually in Sugar Grove Township); tile must be sealed and repointed. Aluminum's non-porous surface and Alunar 70% PVDF finish shed algae and UV damage without intervention. Annual rainfall of 920 mm means debris accumulates everywhere, but leaves rinse off metal in the next rainstorm rather than sitting in asphalt's porous surface. CALGreen verification certifies reduced maintenance, and the four-way interlock seals stay tight through 3037 sunshine hours and repeated temperature swings, eliminating the maintenance spiral that drives long-term costs.

Will an energy-efficiency metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors feature thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile)—meaning the roof reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms measurable cooling benefit, and the reflective advantage compounds over Sugar Grove Township's 3037 annual sunshine hours. Summer cooling loads decrease noticeably with light-colored profiles, reducing air-conditioner runtime during warm months. Combined with aluminum's thermal conductivity (heat moves through it rather than storing), the energy benefit is real enough that energy-efficiency certification applies. For a lifetime roof that also saves energy, the initial cost difference versus asphalt narrows significantly when you factor cooling savings across 30+ years.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Sugar Grove Township’s climate?

Yes. Sugar Grove Township averages about 77 cm of snow, 920 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 105 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
