Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

Kathy and I would like to express our thanks to you and the installation men from INTERLOCK for installing a very attractive roof that has already elicited praise and accolades from our neighbors. We have already seen the benefits of the INTERLOCK system with all of the snow that has fallen in recent weeks. As described in your marketing materials: it just slides right off. This new roof has put our concerns about water damage to rest since we invested a considerable amount to have five rooms of our home renovated in August-September 2002. We like to think of this new roof as the "icing on the cake." We hope to direct our neighbors in your direction in the near future when they decide they, too, would like to add the same impressive roofing structure to their home's value. Finally, we would like to give a special thank you to the installation team for installing our roof under less than perfect weather conditions. February 2003 had its share of record amounts of snow and cold weather, and your team was unfazed by these extremes. They completed the task in two weeks and never rushed the job. It is truly a testament that you have dedicated staff that strives to deliver on Interlock’s mission statement. BRAVO!
I had an Interlock roof put on my house recently. I am pleased with it. The color of the roof matches my house nicely. Your employees did a good job of cleaning up the debris, especially considering the fact that one-half of my existing roof had to be stripped of its existing two layers of asphalt shingles. I would recommend this roof to others for these reasons and also for the following reasons: When I bought my house over four years ago, it was ten years old and had an asphalt roof; the home inspector who looked at the house noticed that a few of the shingles were lifting and that there were some gaps in the chimney flashing that he said were consistent with normal wear and tear over the years. When I hired a contractor to make repairs, I was surprised to learn from him that many of the asphalt shingles were cracked and that one-half of the roof would need to be re-shingled; my mother and I have since heard from several sources that during the 1930s there were problems with bad batches of asphalt roofing shingles being manufactured. Earlier this year, I had a minor roof leak in the half of the roof that was not re-shingled. The contractor who repaired it said that this half of the roof would probably last 3 or 4 more years, I’ve heard that an asphalt roof could last for 20 years, but this was not the case with my house. I clearly wanted a roof that would last a good long time and wanted an alternative to asphalt shingles. I chose Interlock primarily because it is guaranteed for the life of the house. I also like Interlock for other reasons as well. The aluminum shingles interlock with each other on all sides. This prevents the shingles from lifting over time, a problem that I had with the previous asphalt roof on my house. I’ve heard that Interlock roofs are more energy efficient than other roofs. Energy efficiency is important to me and should be to everyone in this day and age and the future to come. Finally, another reason that I like Interlock roofing is for safety reasons. While installing any roof on the house involves unavoidable safety risks to the roofing installers because of Interlock's lifetime guarantee, no one should have to go up on the roof again once it is installed. During the life of a house, this reduces the amount of time that the safety of individuals who work on the roof of the house is at risk. With asphalt roofing on a house that requires replacing every year of the house’s life, there is an increased risk of a roofing installer working on the roof of that house getting hurt.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Attleboro Falls
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Attleboro Falls.
Will a metal roof hold up through Massachusetts winters with all those freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when exposed to freeze-thaw stress, so it won't crack or split the way asphalt, wood, or concrete tile does. Attleboro Falls experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, which is exactly where roofing materials prove themselves. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't absorb moisture into a substrate, so ice formation and expansion don't compromise the panel. This is why the Guardian Warranty covers cracking and splitting for the original owner's lifetime—aluminum simply doesn't degrade that way.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads in our area?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface reduces adhesion; you can add snow guards if needed. Attleboro Falls averages about 76 centimeters of snow annually, and the Interlock Shake or Slate profile—installed at just 0.58 and 0.41 pounds per square foot respectively—weighs almost nothing, so your home never needs structural reinforcement. Traditional slate or concrete tile at the same visual profile would demand expensive framing upgrades; aluminum delivers the aesthetic without the load. The four-way interlocking system also means no water seeps into seams as ice expands.
Does metal roofing leak in heavy rain, especially with all the moisture we get here?
Properly installed metal roofing is leak-proof in rain because the four-way interlocking panels create a continuous barrier with no exposed fasteners on the roof surface. Attleboro Falls receives approximately 1198 millimeters of rain per year—substantial enough that a weak design would fail regularly, yet metal roofing's mechanically locked system outperforms it. The panels overlap in all directions, so water runs down and off rather than finding a path inward. Many homeowners worry noise accompanies this protection, but a solid deck plus underlayment keeps rain sound identical to asphalt, not the hollow drum sound of old thin-metal roofs.
Isn't metal roofing prone to rust? What's different about aluminum?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that forms instantly and heals itself when scratched, creating a self-protecting barrier. This is why Interlock panels are finished with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and why installations from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations survive decades unchanged. In Attleboro Falls, where annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling stress roofing materials relentlessly, aluminum's inability to rust means no maintenance painting, no rust staining, and no structural decay over time.
Will a metal roof stay on in the wind gusts we get during nor'easters?
Yes—the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Attleboro Falls' typical wind gusts reach about 118 kilometers per hour, well within that capacity. The mechanical lock between panels—each one gripped on all four sides by its neighbors—distributes force across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) doesn't just measure hail resistance; it confirms the panel's structural integrity under extreme stress. Nor'easter conditions that might lift or tear asphalt won't find purchase on a mechanically locked metal surface.
Does hail damage metal roofing, and can it help with my insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating demonstrates the panel won't dent, dimple, or lose impact resistance in typical hail events. Many homeowners in Attleboro Falls' Bristol County find that insurers offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated roofing because claims are extremely rare. The non-combustible aluminum also qualifies for Class A fire rating, which can further reduce premiums. Check with your insurer about available discounts—a metal roof's durability record often translates directly to lower rates.
Is metal roofing expensive compared to asphalt shingles over the long term?
Metal roofing costs more upfront, but it's genuinely the last roof you'll buy—the Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transferable for 50 years to the next owner. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years and require complete tear-off-to-landfill replacement, a recurring expense and waste cycle. Over 40–50 years, asphalt replacement costs often exceed the single metal installation. Current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, which bridges the upfront gap. For Attleboro Falls homeowners staying long-term, the math heavily favors metal; the transferable warranty also boosts resale appeal.
Will my house need expensive structural work to support a metal roof?
No—Interlock metal roofing is so light that it requires no structural reinforcement on virtually any home. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 pounds per square foot; even the heaviest, the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 pounds per square foot, is approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, which do require reinforcement. Most installations happen directly over existing asphalt roofing, saving thousands in tear-off labor and disposal costs. An engineer might need to review wood-frame homes with unusual designs, but standard construction easily handles this weight. Attleboro Falls contractors appreciate this—faster installation, fewer surprises, and the ability to preserve existing roofing layers.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?
Metal roofing requires essentially no maintenance—no cleaning, painting, sealing, or treatment. Asphalt shingles need inspection every few years and often algae cleaning; wood shakes require annual treatment or they split and rot; tile needs mortar repointing and can crack in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum, by contrast, is inert and self-protecting; the 30-year PVDF coating is verified CALGreen-compliant for reduced maintenance and warrants against chalking and fading. After 30 years, the panel still functions perfectly—the coating simply weathers normally. In Attleboro Falls, where about 83 freeze-thaw days per year stress traditional materials, the simplicity of metal roofing saves time, money, and stress compared to wood, asphalt, or tile.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Attleboro Falls, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999—25 years of New England experience with the product itself, which has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998. They understand Attleboro Falls' specific climate challenges: 1198 millimeters of annual rainfall, about 120 centimeters of snow, and the aggressive freeze-thaw cycling that disqualifies weaker materials. Local installers ensure follow-up warranty service is quick and convenient, and they know which profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, or Standing Seam—look right on homes in your neighborhood. Current regional promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, bringing the total cost of ownership even lower.
