They could have improved their sales process. It was too aggressive. The salesman wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. He sounded like a carnival barker. I finally got aggravated and told him that I like product—I just needed to know if I could afford it. He finally gave up in frustration and started going over the prices. I guess he thought he had to sell me on the product, but I was already sold in it.

Review: September 30, 2003 Completion: September 9, 2003

I am so satisfied with my new Interlock Roof! Your regional manager, Mr. Patrick O’Riordan, was very polite and informative. He answered all my questions and clearly explained the Interlock Roofing System. The installer was extremely hard-working. And I can’t believe how clean he left the job site! I am truly impressed. Many people have stopped by, as this is a very busy street, and I have expressed my satisfaction with your company to those with whom I have spoken. I was interested in your roofing system due to our New England winters, snow and ice dams on my roof. I can hardly wait for a snowstorm (well-almost) to see how the roof performs. Thanks for such a great job! Keep up the good work!

Review: July 18, 2025 Completion: June 16, 2003

The roof was installed over 20 years ago. I called this morning and someone came by within a couple of hours and spent a few hours here and didn't leave until it was fixed. Couldn't possibly ask for more.

Review: March 13, 2025 Completion: January 8, 2025

If they chose to come out and fix the one problem post-installation that we encountered, that would have gone a long way toward having an overall favorable opinion of the company. Having an installation crew that speaks fluent English would be an improvement. And as mentioned, communications from the office could have been better. Disappointing in some ways but we're hoping that the quality of the roof and its installation will prove to be good as time goes on.

Jonathan Brown was our sale agent that we was recommended by other homeowners. He was very understanding of our needs for a metal roof. He was willing to help us with everything we need. Thank you to Jonathan and the team at Interlock Metal Roof for all the help.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Centralville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Centralville, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Centralville.

Does a metal roof handle Centralville's heavy snow load, or will ice dams form?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dam formation that traps meltwater behind shingles. Centralville receives about 120 cm of snow annually, and the aluminum panels' lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrades are needed even when snow accumulates. Interlock panels can be fitted with snow guards to control sliding in steep-pitch installations, giving you both safety and protection from the freeze-thaw cycling—roughly 93 days per year here—that degrades traditional roofing materials.

Will repeated freezing and thawing in Massachusetts damage an aluminum metal roof?

No—aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched or exposed to moisture, making it inherently resistant to the damage that freeze-thaw cycling inflicts on asphalt and wood shingles. With about 93 freeze-thaw days annually in Centralville and mean temperatures around 10°C, traditional materials expand and contract, crack, and curl. Aluminum does not rot, split, or curl because it contains no iron and cannot rust. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) paired with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years against fading—stays structurally sound through decades of this cycle.

Why is aluminum better than steel roofing in a wet New England climate?

Steel roofs develop rust because iron oxidizes; aluminum roofs cannot rust because aluminum contains no iron. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. In humid climates and near salt air, this matters enormously. Interlock applies the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel—an extra safeguard—and backs it with a 30-year warranty against corrosion. Centralville's roughly 1058 mm of annual rainfall and coastal-influenced moisture mean your roof needs material that won't degrade chemically; aluminum simply does not corrode the way steel does, regardless of how much water or salt-laden air it encounters.

Can a metal roof in Centralville withstand nor'easter winds and spring gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Centralville experiences typical gusts around 104 km/h (about 65 mph), well within this warranty range. The interlocking design—where each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges—distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on nails or fasteners alone. This redundancy is why the panels maintain their structural integrity through the spring storm season and the occasional higher-velocity gust that New England weather can bring.

Does a metal roof help with insurance, and how does it handle hail?

Interlock metal roofs carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because aluminum panels do not dent, crack, or lose integrity the way asphalt shingles do. Many insurers recognize that a Class 4-rated roof reduces claim frequency and severity. While Centralville's climate data does not highlight extreme hail, the impact rating demonstrates the material's toughness against any projectile impact, giving you and your insurer confidence that your roof will perform when weather turns severe.

Do reflective metal roofs really lower cooling costs in New England?

Yes, when you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council-rated panels achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 in certain finishes (like Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and holds. Centralville receives about 3054 sunshine hours per year, so even a New England summer benefits from reduced solar heat gain. On a 95°F day, a reflective metal roof can run 10–15°F cooler than asphalt, lowering your AC load. The lightweight aluminum also means no added thermal mass to burden your HVAC system—you get the cooling benefit without the structural penalty.

What does 'lifetime warranty' mean, and is it really transferable?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated, lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that can plague asphalt and wood roofs. It is also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This means if you sell your Centralville home, you pass along decades of protection to the buyer, which dramatically increases the roof's resale value and your home's market appeal. For a homeowner planning to stay long-term, this is effectively the last roof you will ever buy; for one planning to sell within 20–30 years, you are still transferring a substantial warranty cushion.

Do I need to reinforce my house frame before installing a metal roof in Centralville?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This allows installation directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs without adding load to rafters or walls. In Centralville, where homes vary in age and framing strength, this advantage is significant: you avoid expensive structural upgrades that would be required with real slate or tile. The lightweight design also simplifies installation and reduces labor time, further lowering your total project cost.

How does a metal roof prevent leaks during Centralville's heavy rainy seasons?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a weather-tight seal where each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, preventing water from flowing horizontally into gaps. Centralville averages about 1058 mm of rainfall per year, requiring a robust shedding system. The panels are installed over a solid deck and underlayment (just like asphalt roofing), so water drains immediately down the slope rather than pooling. The overlapping interlocks—combined with proper flashing at penetrations and edges—handle intense downpours and wind-driven rain. Many homeowners worry metal roofs are loud in rain; the solid deck and underlayment make Interlock roofs acoustically equivalent to asphalt, eliminating that concern.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels eliminate the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that saddles Centralville with waste every 15–20 years. When a traditional asphalt roof reaches end-of-life, all of it goes to the dump; an aluminum roof can be recycled at any point. Because metal roofs last 50+ years (versus 15–20 for asphalt), you also avoid the embodied energy cost of multiple replacements over the same time span. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance design, meaning fewer trucks rolling through your neighborhood for repairs. From a lifecycle perspective, choosing aluminum is a direct answer to reducing your home's environmental footprint over the decades you own it.
