Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Rowley, Massachusetts
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
This letter is written to inform you of my recent installation experience with your company. As a former Regional Sales Manager for 22 years in the Northeast US, I believe I can speak from experience when it pertains to customer service, customer relations and more importantly, customer satisfaction. That being said, I offer the following comments for your review: Interlock Industries employee, Vitale Sukhovtsev, was my main contact and installer throughout the entire roofing process. Although Mr. Sukhovtsev is deaf, we established an immediate rapport. Communication between us was never an issue. I found Mr. Sukhovtsev’s work ethic, professionalism and craftsmanship to be exemplary. He was prompt, courteous and meticulous in his craft. It was impressive to see someone who took such pride in his vocation. He is a great ambassador for your company and he has made my experience with Interlock Industries a very positive one. In closing, based upon the installation process, I look forward to a high performing and maintenance free roof. Should you have any questions regarding the aforementioned, please feel free to contact me directly at home (978) xxx-xxxx.
We have a tight, lovely, looking roof. We believe Interlock Industries, Inc. has a superior product. Only time will tell how well it will hold its beauty and durability. Installation of this product requires a lot of labor. Your professional installation crew worked well together. They were respectful, polite, and neat. Every work day, our grounds were left clean and presentable. Once our new roof was installed, we approved of its appearance.
Roof installed in late October of 2015. Start to finish a good experience. We knew going it what to expect for costing and everyone looking at a metal roof should expect high costs, but still gave it a small ding on overall costs :). The lead time to do the work was long but that expectation was clearly set during the contract negotiations and they were within 2 weeks of that date. Jennifer was a big help keeping me informed of scheduling and always responded within a day of any message left, if I didn't get her live on the phone. The crew was really good (Sergi, Dimitry and the guys) and worked 9-5 without missing a beat after a long daily commute to get to our house.. Considering all the nails, shingles and small metal pieces associated with this installation my yard was spotless. Even after they completed my walk around yielded about a dozen small pieces buried under leaves and to be expected.. Very pleased with that.. So far we're very happy with the experience. The roof looks amazing and we cannot wait for the snow to arrive. Description of work: removed 2 layers of shingles, replaced some damaged plywood after removal, complete roof coverage with ice & water barrier along with a 2nd protective layer then the metal roofing. We had a good sized roof, about 2800 sq. feet with alot of angles and dormers.
Dear Sirs, To quote from T. S. Eliot, “Home is where one starts from.” And our home needed a kick to start it again! We built our home 12 years ago, but our roof was already showing real signs that we needed to replace it, as the shingles where curling, slipping out of place and although not causing leaks at the time it surely would have. The way our home is situated on our lot, it gets total New England weather. There is also “a lot” of roof in the front, so we needed it to look incredible as well. We had looked into Interlock a year prior, but with children and careers, sometimes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But a year later we knew that our roof was the first project on our list to get attention. We got in touch with Interlock, and that is the best decision we have made! Our initial visit with Dan was pleasant, not pressure packed to purchase on the spot, as we had done our research. The cost to re-roof with asphalt shingles at this time, plus the possibility of having to do another 12-15 years versus the price presented to us go with Interlock AND NEVER ROOF AGAIN was well within our budget! We decided that meeting to go with Interlock. We received updates on our order process at each step, from the order being received to when the order was being shipped. The kept us informed and provided excellent customer service. Our roofing system went on ahead of schedule and the installers were excellent! Nick and Serge were pleasant, extremely hard workers and cleaned up the site each night! They were a pleasure to have around! Our home is beautiful, again! We have a company to back up our roofing system and feel that going with Interlock was the best decision we have made! Thank you so much for having such quality employees, for your communication and for brining peace of mind to us!
We have not had one minute of rest since the installation of our Interlock Roof System was finished. Our home is on a busy main road. Friends and people have not stopped complimenting and questioning us about it. The roof is beautiful and eye-popping. On a more practical level, we felt we needed more than what a regular asphalt roof could offer. The back of our house does not get much sun in the winter. This can and does cause snow and ice accumulation problems when the conditions are right. The results are " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams and leaking. The rest of the year, it causes moss and lichen to grow. These issues, combined with the fact that it was time for a new roof, led us to the Interlock system. While it is springtime, we feel confident that our Interlock roof will perform as expected. It is a premium roof that offers much more than good looks.
The experience with the entire Interlock team was a pleasure. First having Mike come out to give an estimate and his patience with making a decision, to scheduling and other matters with Jennifer in the office and finally, Igor and his crew. Igor and his crew worked really hard; their workmanship was more like craftsmanship. They were very respectful and treated our home and property like it was their own. When they completed the job, you did not know they were even there, except for the beautiful new roof. The new roof started earning its keep the day after it was finished due to a bad rainstorm. Throughout this winter, we were amazed that once the snow had fallen off the roof, we were the only home in the neighborhood to have no snow or ice. Our advice to any homeowner is to take the leap and get an Interlock roof, you will not regret it.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rowley
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rowley, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rowley.
Will a metal roof hold up to Massachusetts winters with all the freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens when exposed to freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl after about 76 annual freeze-thaw days like Rowley experiences. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) expands and contracts predictably without degradation, and the two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating remains flexible through temperature swings. You're protected by the Guardian Warranty, which covers splitting and cracking over the original owner's lifetime.
Can an aluminum roof rust in New England's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that causes rust. Instead, a microscopic oxide layer forms on aluminum and self-heals when scratched, so even after Rowley's typical 1065 mm of annual rainfall, the metal stays protected. Interlock applies its Alunar fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel (extra insurance in humid air), warranted 30 years against fading. Steel roofs rust; aluminum simply doesn't.
How does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams in Rowley?
Metal's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice far more efficiently than asphalt, preventing the ice dams that form when melted snow refreezes at the eave. Rowley averages about 84 cm of snow yearly; the four-way interlocking panels and optional snow guards keep accumulation from sliding dangerously while allowing melt to drain cleanly. The lightweight design means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in deep-snow years, and the system is warrantied to 120 mph wind gusts—more than enough for typical New England storms.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Slate and Shingle profiles weigh just 0.41–0.58 lb/sq ft, making them about 96% lighter than traditional slate or clay tile. Even the Mediterranean Tile profile, at 0.59 lb/sq ft, installs directly over most existing roofs without additional support, saving thousands on structural work. This lightweight advantage is particularly valuable in Massachusetts, where annual snow loads and the stress of 76 freeze-thaw cycles can strain older home framing.
Is a metal roof secure in New England windstorms?
The four-way interlocking panel design and the system's warranty to resist 120 mph winds far exceed Rowley's typical gust speeds of about 130 km/h (81 mph). Wind uplift is the primary failure mode for asphalt shingles; Interlock's mechanical interlock prevents the panel separation that gutting winds cause. Every installation must meet ICC-ES ESR-1790 code (reissued 2025), which accounts for regional wind loads, and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers wind-related failures—giving you documented protection.
Does a metal roof reduce insurance claims after hailstorms?
Interlock metal roofing earns the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—meaning it resists hailstones up to 1.5 inches without perforation. The Guardian Warranty covers any perforation from hail, and many insurers offer premium discounts for impact-rated roofs (check with your agent). With Rowley's 3109 annual sunshine hours and occasional severe weather, a non-combustible, hail-resistant metal roof often qualifies for lower homeowner's insurance rates than asphalt, offsetting some installation cost over time.
Can metal roofing help lower cooling costs in summer?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they bounce heat back into the atmosphere rather than absorbing it into your attic like dark asphalt. Over Rowley's 3109 annual sunshine hours, this reflectivity reduces cooling load year-round and especially during warm months. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable performance; pairing a metal roof with proper attic ventilation can noticeably lower air-conditioning bills.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Metal roofs need minimal maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. There's no annual debris removal, no moss or algae treatment, no granule loss to replace, and no wood-rot inspections—just occasional debris clearing if you're near trees. The Alunar coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, stays color-stable through Rowley's 1065 mm annual rainfall and variable humidity. The CALGreen verified low-maintenance profile means you're buying a roof that becomes quieter with age, never deteriorates like shingles.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt shingles?
A metal roof is the last roof you buy. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in New England's freeze-thaw climate; Interlock is warranted for the original owner's lifetime—often 40–50+ years. The Guardian Warranty transfers once (giving the next owner 50 years from completion), protecting your home's most expensive surface far longer than multiple asphalt replacements. Factor in minimal maintenance, potential insurance discounts, energy savings over decades, and the fact that ~95% of aluminum is recyclable (versus asphalt's landfill fate), and the lifetime cost per year is significantly lower than repeated tear-offs.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Rowley?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999, understanding exactly how Essex County winters and coastal moisture affect metal roofs. They're authorized to certify installations against ICC-ES ESR-1790 code, ensure proper four-way interlocking and underlayment (which keeps rain noise as quiet as asphalt), and handle the full Guardian Warranty process. Right now, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—making this the ideal time to schedule a consultation for your Rowley home.
