Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Frederick

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Frederick, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Frederick.

How does a metal roof handle Frederick's snow load and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock's aluminum panels shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because their smooth, slick surface resists ice dam formation—critical when Frederick receives about 101 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 77 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking design (ESR-1790 rated) locks panels together under thermal stress; aluminum expands and contracts without cracking, splitting, or curling like asphalt, wood, or ceramic tile. Over decades of thaw-refreeze cycling, that material stability matters.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust even with Frederick's 557 mm of annual rainfall?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that rusts. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal underneath indefinitely. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade alloy (ASTM B209) is paired with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-layer defense is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998.

Are metal roofs at risk in Frederick's wind gusts?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well beyond Frederick's typical gusts of about 103 km/h. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—a mechanical interlock, not adhesive—so wind pressure forces are distributed across the entire roof system rather than concentrated on fasteners. When ice, snow, or wind loads shift, the panels flex slightly but stay locked, maintaining the seal that keeps water out.

How is a metal roof rated for hail damage, and does it save on insurance?

Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and its Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That non-combustible aluminum and proven durability often qualify homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your carrier with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL listing. In Sherburne County's climate with variable weather, the combination of impact resistance and transferable 50-year warranty (next owner benefit) can lower your total cost of ownership versus materials that degrade faster under storm stress.

Does an aluminum metal roof actually cool my house in Frederick's climate?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny)—meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like dark asphalt. Even in a cold climate, this reduces cooling load on air-conditioning days and lowers utility bills year-round. With about 3,098 sunshine hours annually in Frederick, that reflectivity compounds. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating demonstrates measurable energy performance, so you're not paying for efficiency claims—you're buying documented thermal behavior.

What makes Interlock's warranty different, and does it really last a lifetime?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Non-prorated means full coverage year one through year 50+, not declining percentages. Combined with aluminum's inability to rust and the Alunar coating's 30-year fade warranty, this is the only roof you'll likely buy. Over Frederick's 77 annual freeze-thaw cycles, that durability pledge reflects genuine confidence in the material.

How does a metal roof's cost compare to asphalt over 30 or 50 years?

Metal costs more upfront but requires almost no replacement maintenance, while asphalt typically needs reroofing every 15–20 years, generating landfill waste and labor costs each cycle. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty and proven durability in harsh climates (101 cm of snow, 77 freeze-thaw days) mean you avoid multiple tear-offs. The transferable 50-year coverage also increases home resale appeal. When you factor in avoided labor, disposal fees, and the certainty of keeping your original roof through decades of Frederick winters, the lifetime cost favors aluminum.

Is aluminum roofing really more sustainable than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt cycle: tear off, landfill, repeat every 15–20 years. Aluminum can be melted and reused infinitely without degrading; asphalt cannot. Over a 50-year ownership period in Frederick's climate—with its 557 mm annual rainfall and aggressive freeze-thaw cycling—one Interlock roof replaces multiple asphalt roofs, eliminating three to four tear-offs and their waste, emissions, and labor impact. That's genuine environmental benefit, not marketing.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need in Frederick?

Minimal. Unlike wood shingles that split and curl under freeze-thaw stress, or asphalt that oxidizes in 3,098 annual sunshine hours, aluminum simply doesn't degrade from weather exposure. You won't patch rotting spots, replace curled shingles, or clear moss—aluminum resists all three. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection after severe weather are sufficient. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements. Interlock's lightweight design and smooth surface also shed the 101 cm of annual snow without ice dam buildup, eliminating the ice-removal costs and leak repairs that plague other materials in this climate.

Is a metal roof fire-resistant, and does that matter in Frederick?

Interlock aluminum qualifies as non-combustible and can achieve Class A fire classification—the highest rating available. While wildfire risk is lower in Sherburne County than in western regions, Class A rating reduces insurance premiums and meets strict building codes (ESR-1790, IBC/IRC reissued 2025). It also means the roof won't contribute fuel to any fire, protecting both your home and your neighborhood. Non-combustible status is a permanent benefit that strengthens your home's resilience and underwriting profile.
